As I get older, the flight over from the US East coast gets more challenging- both in terms of handling the 26-30 hour flight duration and the 11 hour jet lag time zone displacement.

My hotel manager friend says they had a great "extended season" but come June his bookings have dropped off a cliff and the prices will go down. I'm staying at a high-mid range hotel in the Buakhao area but will switch to one of my favored long term hotels in a week or so.

I start my trips from the same time zone and I've tangled with the same jet lag. Here's what works for me.

That gives me several hours of energy to get settled in, to lay in some supplies and to have a bite of lunch. Always at the J. Daeng, by the way. There's just something about being at ground zero in central Pattaya that screams HOLIDAY.

As the afternoon wears on it's the middle of the night on my body clock and it's easy to take a combat nap. The secret is to set the alarm for around sunset, lest my schedule shift into total vampire mode. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) The first night I'm tempted to go hard. But that's a rookie move. A few drinks and a few laughs with the usual suspects, then perhaps a quick snack and I'm back in bed.

I know I'll bolt awake around dawn, but that's fine. The key is to get outside and walk to breakfast - preferably staying outdoors while dining. For the next few days I still need an afternoon snooze. But usually after three or four days I'm on Pattaya time.

Good to see Mr. Sopheni posting again. I look forward to his take on the ground truth during the low season.

Do I have to buy lady drink first?

Or I can Straight proceed to do deed?

Think of GoGo Bars sort of like strip clubs. The only difference is there is a higher chance you might get to buy the girl out for short time versus at a strip club.

I think all your questions relate to beer bars on Soi 6 and not Gogo Bars. They're different from each other.

European / Aussie mongers will not experience this problem and think us American's soft but I assure you the struggle is real. I spent my "recovery" time in high energy trekking type stuff in other SEA countries which was probably not wise in some ways but turned out ok. I arrived in Pattaya more or less recovered from the circadian displacement. My plan for future trips is to break the flight up with a day or so in Doha or Dubai, or even 3 or 4 in Istanbul.

I'm not sure if much is all that changed from this time last year- if anything it does seem a bit more energized and populated, but in some ways it really doesn't. More investigation is warranted. On Thai Friendly, girls are now asking 1500-2000 as a start rather than 1000-1500. I'm happy letting most of the 2000 hang in the wind- many of these girls are not in touch with reality with other girls of similar caliber asking for 1500. When things get slow soon I'm sure their tune will change.

And that is why you just say that you pay max 1000, or 1500 for a younger and cuter one. Check the sideline webpages. See what thais are paying. As I have said time and time again, my rent has been the exact same for 14 years, which means these chicks' rent has also remained the same. There are not too many things that have increased price here besides gasoline, which may add only a few baht to some goods. However I am still paying the same 1000 baht for a taxi from the airport. Yesterday the driver stopped and filled up with natural gas for 180 baht. It has been at least 10 years since I have taken the bus from Ekamai to Pattaya. Back then I think I paid 118 baht. Today it is 131 baht, not 400 baht.

I also had a freelancer that I met on Thai Friendly come over all night for 1000. (She came at 1030 pm last night and went home at 7 am when I headed out to exercise.) I think the largest increase on anything over the years (besides pussy) has to be foreign brand cigarettes. They used to be 70 baht, but are now I think 120 baht due to increased government taxes in the name of trying to get people to stop smoking. There is actually no justification for the prices for chicks at gogo bars or whatever to have gone up 3 and 4 fold..

Well said. I'd also add that the issue with prices going up for ST / LT is that the quality seems to continually go down. Just walk around the Buakhow area and you'll see mostly avg to below avg looking women and most overweight. Having said that, Pattaya is still awesome and will remain my mongering destination of choice until another country pops up that can provide what Pattaya provides (safety, value, beach, convenience, endless food options for cheap, etc.).

I've been lurking this forum for years and I have read posts complaining about the pricing year after year in various different country threads. Of course things are not going to stay as cheap as they once were, the world experiences inflation and values always change, is the way I see it. Also, it's not like you're paying anywhere near the same amount of money you'd pay in the US (which I assume most of us on the forum are from) for the same caliber of woman. The going rate for 45 minutes with an Asian massage therapist in Central Florida costs $240 USD and you get at most 2 pops, I never do it because I got spoiled with my mongering trips out of the country. Think about what you can do with $240 mongering in other countries, not just Thailand. Indeed, $240 a day in a place like Pattaya has you living like you are in the top five percent. Realistically, one only needs to budget around $100 a day whilst in Pattaya.

Room: $20-$40, for a mid tier hotel.

Food and coffee: $10-$15.

Daily massage: $10.

ST: $40.

Of course you can make it as cheap or expensive as you want. There's days when I'm in Pattaya and I don't even session, almost like a break day and just eat good and get a Thai massage and a foot massage.

The most frequent complaint here is that prices are going up, and the ladies aren't as beautiful as before.

I first read such posts here in 2004, but I suspect that customers have been writing such posts since forever.

There are literally thousands of bars in the Jomtien area, and tens of thousands of ladies. If you are not happy with the selection, the ladies are not the problem.

Supply and demand dynamics usually means that the prices will go up and the young attractive girls will become harder to find because more guys are looking for them.

When that happens, and it is not what you like, that means it is time for you to move on to another place where there is less mongers. Clearly that place is not Pattaya, one of the most popular places for mongers in the world.
