Posts: 5457I am in lovely San Jose, and have found that it is surprisingly downscale, especially in comparison with Medellíand, where I just came from.
I went shopping downtown, and ran into a neighborhood with some pretty ratty bars. There was a short time hotel with older ladies standing by out front.
Not a good place to walk around at night.

One final question. How are the girls these days when it comes to allowing photos? When I was going to Costa Rica way back when, I always described it as having a great "picture culture", meaning that most of the girls were down with allowing pics, as long as no face or identifying tattoos were shown (but I also got a lot with the face). How are things regarding allowing pics in current times?

Thanks for the info. And $250 for an hour in Jaco is way too much. Not going there! I think I will negotiate for $100 max per hour in San Jose and $150 max in Jaco.

ATMs are all similar, the exchange rate is based on your bank back home. Some, most, have ATM fees and the withdrawal limits can change without notice. Paydays they drop the withdrawal limits so they don't run out of money as quickly. BCR or Banco Nacional and one other, I forget which one, are government owned. Recently BN has had higher withdrawal limits, but your mileage may vary. But generally pulling $200 US in colones should be within their limits.

Somebody must have some answers for my few basic questions. The Costa Rica threads used to be so much more active! Not anymore.

Hi All,
Currently planning a trip to either Colombia or Costa Rica this coming January. I'll be traveling with friends and family and wanted to partake in some extra curricular activities. I've mongered in Mexico, Portugal / Spain, Thailand and the Caribbean. One thing I liked about all of these places is that they have short time rooms / casas and or actual brothels with rooms. Since I will be on time constraints with friends, unfortunately I won't be able to rizz up some chicas and take them back to my room for some tln fun. Because I will be sharing my airbnb with others.
Can anyone share any recent short time experiences in San Jose and Jaco areas? Basically, I'm looking for a casa type line up setup or something similar. Where I can either reserve something from a site / whatsapp or in person.
Are there any brothels in Jaco / San Jose that someone can share with me? I've searched endlessly on this thread and only seen older experiences from few years ago.
Best,
Jay.

My trip is coming up soon, and I was wondering if there are any updates regarding the following:
1. So, what's the current deal with the old Hotel del Rey? Is it open or not? I would love to stop by for a drink just for old time's sake!
2. What's the current starting hourly rate the girls are asking for at the Taormina Hotel in San Jose and at the Cocal in Jaco?
3. And finally, what currently is the best bank ATM to pull some local currency from? I probably will want to pull about $200 at the time.
That's it, and thanks for any info anybody can share regarding my questions.
TC.

Posts: 897CRT Web-site Blocked From Within Castillo
Hey is anyone else also on the CRT web-site?
Amazing but both my browsers are blocking CRT from within Castillo and using its internet.
I'll show Matt and/or Darren tomorrow if they are around but thought someone on here might know the secret squirrel code with this.
Real good first night. I let a needing 35 year old with fat tummy follow me down to Sportsmen's and caved in. Other than her tummy in overall good shape, very pleasing and energetic. 3 hours total 'date' for $120. At first she agreed to $100 until 5 AM but in the room changed to $200. I NOT not paying for that for $200, maybe a younger more flaca Tica. Anyways had nice time with her.

So I know CBD is legal, but it looks like in San Jose, they are at the beginning stages and don't have many options. I regularly use CBD vapes, (3%THC, since Texas won't legalize THC), but we have options here, flower, cartridges with all types like Delta 8/10, HHC, THC-P, THC-A, etc. Anyone know of any places in SJ that have these options or has this not made it to CR yet?

Posts: 1307If you can keep on the low end of Airbnb rates, say 100 US or less per night you can get business I think, assuming you are on or close to the water. But real estate prices don't allow that anywhere I have looked. So in my opinion there is no viable investment opportunity. If you are in the $1000 per night range of accommodation then looking at investments of multi millions of dollars. Good luck with that.

You did give some good nuggets here though Zeos. I would probably only look in established condo communities. I have someone plugged into where I live in the US that is a liason with a financial company I have done biz with here for years.

My favorite place is Santa Teresa but that might price out but in that area there may be a deal. However Guatascaste and Jaco seem to have the condo communities and I don't think I want to go south of Jaco. The southern pacific is still under developed and honestly I hope it stays that way.

Posts: 1307Ahh. Good. Then you know more about it than 99% of those on this forum, including myself. I personally have met 3 or 4 gringos that have had their properties stolen from them. Scams set up by lawyers, etc. Putting squatters on their land and then taking it away through the courts. One gringo I met that has been fighting his case for almost 20 years is convinced that almost all there are white collar criminal, courts, judges, all on the take, and set up to make the oligarchy wealthier. Anyway. My impression is that common types of places, such as condos, well developed properties, might be a bit safer to buy, but all I hear is enough to scare me away from buying anything there.
