Posts: 7973What was the online exchange with the girl about? Only sex for love? Or were there enough extenuating circumstances to support a case that your buddy, his friend and the 16 year old girl expected there to be some exchange of money or something else with monetary value for having sex with her? It could even be as much as previous online exchanges by those same guys on that same site with older girls where it was clear they were there to hook up with prostitutes and not to find a wife.

Posts: 7973Tea money, perhaps. Also, TIT in the sense that the authorities are willing to look the other way if the trade is not creating a public nuisance about the services they offer. Same with massage shops, Happy Ending shops and BJ Bars. But BJ Bars have been shut down because the girls were too demonstrative and vocal with passersby about what they offer inside.

But I would not expect the girls providing that service or the customers paying them for it to get arrested for that act of prostitution.
Keep it low key, the explicit description of it out of sight from general traffic flow, don't embarrass Thailand in the minds of casual tourists on the direct issue of paying money for sex, mask it behind the notion of merely providing entertainment, a massage or an assisted wash down bath and the authorities are likely to take a live and let live approach to it.
And tea money probably helps too.
After all, if there really is a law on the books making it a crime to exchange of sex for money between consenting adults who have not been coerced into it by a third party and with service providers who have a proper visa, why aren't soapies, massage shops, Happy Ending shops and BJ Bars shut down and the proprietors, girls and customers inside arrested for it every day?
Why aren't cops whose rent money is short by 1,000 - 2,000 baht this month riding up on their motorbikes next to farrang punters blatantly negotiating with street girls every hour to settle the penalty for their "crime" on the spot as quickly as they try to bust me on my motorbike for not wearing a helmet and not having a driver's license (it is an electric bicycle some cops mistake for a full size, regulation motorcycle. LOL) and what about the shakedowns where the cops are checking to see if you have contraband in your pocket or bag?
There is no effort by the cops to do that when an obvious act of prostitution is taking place in full view of them on Beach Road in Pattaya or on Soi 4 in Bangkok because there is no law on the books specifically criminalizing the act of prostitution.
Now, try negotiating such a thing in full view of a busload of tourists parked at the Grand Palace or a Temple and you and your street girl are probably going to find yourselves seized upon by every color uniformed officers and carted off to jail. The charge will be something like creating public nuisance related to the act of prostitution.

Personally prefer Bangkok over Pattaya. I will be in Thailand starting December 17th for 19 days, with 12 of those days in Bangkok. One week in Pattaya is just the right amount.

Posts: 2203A few months ago I stayed a bit north of your Marriot Courtyard and I took advantage of the frequent free shuttles to and from the action.

Bringing a girl from central Pattaya to my hotel was not practical, so I ended up renting dismal short term rooms. Next visit I'll stay somewhere between Soi 6 and Walking Street.

Posts: 18757Is this really true? I told a story before about a young US Marine meeting a 16 year old onlin a couple years ago and him and his colleague hooking up with her and her friend. Her father found out and the guys were in deep shit. My buddy was called in by the Marines to translate a negotiation in the middle of the night. The US government had to pay I think $75,000 to the father to get those guys off the hook.

Posts: 61Google translator works well. You may find few speaking well but most don't.
If you can walk a bit, you can catch tuktuk to soi lane.

Posts: 61I concur with what you said, that's why was taken back when people said they are paying 300 bhats. In my knowledge it's 1200 + 300 fine for ST upstairs.
Within a year I have seen fine raised from 500 bhats last year in one bar 11 pm to around 1250 bhats.
Bangkok still seems cheaper in terms of barfine but may catch up soon, though the city itself is damn expensive.

Posts: 6804Great location if you want to be away from it all. Not sure how much walking you like but it's not even convenient to walk from that hotel to catch a baht bus at Dolphin round. I assume you're trying to use Marriot points but in Pattaya you're kind of out of luck if you want to be near action. Any hotel along the main baht bus route is doable. In Pattaya there are 3 main action spots, Walking Street, LK Metro / Treetown, and Soi 6. All 3 are easily accessible from the main baht bus route. Can traffic be bad. Yes especially during high season. It is especially bad south of Central Festival heading towards Walking Street. It's bearable from Soi 6 north to Dolphin round on both 2nd Road and Beach Road.

Most girls speak English quite well in Pattaya. Conversation is extremely important to me too if I plan on spending more than an hour with a girl. If I need to use Google Translate she's out unless it's just a quick bang on Soi 6 or a G Club. Best English is likely among the gogo girls. Of course if you are seeking girls over 22 they've been around long enough to all speak English.

Posts: 271. No the English is not any better in general. Expect plenty of Google translate. I have met a couple girls in the GoGos that do have good English, usually have had a farang boyfriend.

2. Can call Bolt to get around, traffics can be pretty bad on the north end of Beach Road due to constant construction.

Thanks, Horse Trader.

My previous post about this that you quoted from was regarding P4 P girls working in bars. I think that would also apply to escort agencies, massage shops, soapies, so-called Happy Ending shops and the like. It seems that is why Smooci is trying put a distance between itself and escort agencies of late.
And I should also stipulate that This Is Thailand, I could have it wrong on some meaningful detail or the law has been changed as of last month or some edict has been issued that supercedes traditional penal code and enforcement procedures. My notes are based on what I have read in the Thai Penal Code on the issue and the way it has virtually always turned out in terms of arrests and charges regarding "prostitution crimes" here.
So, about those occasions where the cops round up dozens of street girls in a single night in a surprise sweep on, say, Beach Road in Pattaya or Soi 4 or Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok. Don't the cops say they did it to "Crack down on prostitution" or some such thing and doesn't the media report it as such too?
Yes. Because they are being lazy and / or intentionally imprecise about it.
What they are really arresting the girls for is being prostitutes who are creating a public nuisance of their line of work..
See, the illegal part is the italicized part of that statement. It is not illegal to be a prostitute in Thailand. But it is illegal to create a public nuisance about it.
Of course, all it takes for street girls to become a public nuisance is for a nearby hotel, restaurant, residence or I suppose competing bar to lodge a complaint that it is getting so crowded with hookers out there their business' patrons feel intimidated or literally must run the gauntlet of hookers just to reach the entrance to their business.
Or the girls are getting so loud and vocal that the wives and girlfriends of male tourists are annoyed by all this shouting about "boom boom" and "blowjobs".
Anyone remember when the BJ Bars off Soi 8 in Bangkok had to close because the girls sitting outside had gotten too vocal with passersby about what was on offer inside? Then when they were allowed to reopen their style changed from shouting, waving and flagging over potential customers to whispering, "psst. Come inside. Blowjob. " For a while anyway. I think most Bangkok BJ Bar girls sitting outside their bar are still fairly low key and subdued about how they tout their offering compared to the way it was before some of those shops got busted and closed down a long while. And that was pre Covid.
They had been creating a public nuisance out of their business model and got busted for it.
Yes, sometimes those sweeps are also about suspected visa violations or age-related issues, same as some of the raids in the bars, massage shops, etc.
But, again, the busts are not exactly of legal age and properly visa'd girls and their customers for the exchange of money for sex. They are for something else only tangentially related to it.

Hey mongers. Hope you are all boom booming well.
Have a short window (3-4 days) for a solo mongering trip. I have done BKK several times, was looking at Pattaya but wanted to see how a couple of points compare.
1. Conversation is important for me, during the pick up and after, have struggled a bit in places like Thermae, Fiwfans when the girl does not speak English but looks good and sexy. Have found spas and Nana plaza ones to be better at talking, but I am lazy and prefer to get to the job quick. Generally speaking, is English more widely spoken in Pattaya being a clubbing destination?
2. Going with my laziness, I prefer to be close to the action place. Was considering Marriott Courtyard (north pattaya), but looks a tad far from the Soi clubs I want to visit. Is traffic as bad or is it easy to get to the hotel?
3. Looking at the week of Nov 13 - first round drinks on me if anyone wants to hang out.
Safe mongering!!
