- service is like a 4-star hotel, quick with any amenities, tuktuk takes you to the main road at any time which is really good.
- Location is decent for Nana, as you basically have to walk right up the soi with all the freelancers and NEP is just over 10 minutes walk.
So overall verdict is that I would get a room at the Annex building because there's zero walk of shame there, seems newer too than the main building. The rooms are very clean but I have to say, if I spend $60-100 I'the rather get a standard room at a better hotel rather than the biggest room at a 3-star hotel. There are better options at this price range.

Posts: 2662I estimate it's a 15 minute walk to Nana Entertainment Plaza. Of course you can use their tuk-tuk service, but it might not be operating when you need it.

Posts: 166I did walk past the other day thinking that looks like a nice hotel but motorbike noise is a no-go IMO. And I actually don't even know why the government doesn't do anything about this as it's not really a feature at many other Asian cities.

I got to my hotel Sunday afternoon (an American chain). It was clear that the chain had a copy of my passport from before and they only verified the passport number. No photocopying. The entry stamp page wasn't even looked at.

I had only one girl visiting me there, but I had no problems picking her up in the lobby, right in front of the reception, and taking her to my room. Nobody said anything, and I didn't ask her to leave her ID at the reception because she's a regular and I fully trust her.
Cons: rather small shower cubicle, no brown bread at the breakfast buffet, and too strong coffee. The Americano tasted like expresso. Hell, even the cappuccino tasted like expresso.
But the worst of all was the noise of the motor bikes and tuk-tuks driving by all fucking day and night long. So I won't be going back there.

Long time reader first time poster.
Hitting Bangkok for my second visit in September.
Without a doubt my favorite mid range hotel is the Adelhi Suites at 6 Soi Sukhumvit 8.
Great rooms and staff. If I had a guest visit they would just ring to check then send her up. Most late night entire they didn't even ask for a guest ID.
Great restaurant on bottom floor and an absolutely awesome location.
Close to most things you may wish to partake. I'm staying a Fri / Sat / Sun in a king suite for 70 USD a night early Sept.
I'm going to spend 7 nights after that at the JW Marriot which is fairly overpriced at 180 USD a night.
I'm planning a week of threesomes and this hotel doesn't blink an eyelid at 2 guests joining you and they don't collect ID's. Safety and Damage is your responsibility or well your credit card.

Posts: 1434Landmark has the best location, cannot say if it's worth or not, I've never stayed there.

Boss suites is not far from Parkroyal. I stayed there 1 night 10 years ago based on good reviews and was not happy with the place (very old looking room with loads of coackroaches). I've read a member a few months ago saying it's good now, they probably refurbished it.
Ibis soi 4 is clean and good, around 35 dollars.
Ibis style or Novotel is better with a better location too, but more expensive (40 to 70 dollars).

I am visiting Bangkok for the first time in mid September for about 2 weeks. Budget is flexible but always down to save money where I can conveniently. I was thinking about The Landmark, ParkRoyal, or Boss Suites (per a recommendation).
Is the Landmark worth potentially $110 a night?
Is ParkRoyal good enough to save that extra money per night at around $60?
Is Boss Suites too far from the action and too uncomfortable considering its around $30 a night and 10 minutes from nana?
Any other recommendations up to and around $100 per night or less?
Any perspective you can give to a first timer / novice visiting?

Posts: 1434I think they don't make a copy of the stamp page but I'm 100% sure they manually write down the data. Not sure about the entry stamp, but they write down the date you are supposed to leave the country.

Posts: 2203I'm about 90% certain that they only copy/scan the biodata page from your passport. The hotels have a requirement to report when you stay with them. Can't remember ever being asked to show my E-Visa at a hotel.

Don't need passport to check into short time hotel. Sometimes just silently hand the attendant 300 baht and get the room key.

Posts: 166Thermae is livable in the $30-40 range but for something in the $80-90 range I'd go for Park Royal hotel which is a newish place which has suites which don't break the bank, very comfortable with living room, fairly big balcony (altho sparse apart from chairs / table). It's in an alley behind soi Nana, means it's 3-5 minutes walk to the action but still very quiet.

Posts: 247Short term Hotel ID requirements
All,
I will be in Bangkok after a very long time. I am planning to stay near Phrom Phong or Asoke BTS stations. There are a couple of questions I have:
1. The hotels I understand require passports for foreigners. Do they take the pictures of visas or entry stamps too?
2. How does this work in short term hotels? If I were to take a Thermae girl for ST to the hotel right above it, would I be asked for my passport or I can get by with any other ID like my DL from North America?
Thanks,
EC.

Can you please recommend a hotel / condo / serviced apartment near Thermae for about $50-100 per day for a couple of weeks, the only requirement being that I need fast consistent wifi.
I have looked at the S15 and the Ambassador and a couple of AirBNBs, but would appreciate some recommendations.
Thanks,
BNM.
