This year in July and August my regular hotels in the Asoke area were fully booked or very near full and prices were 25% higher vs last year. I usually don't book hotels more than a few days in advance, but I wouldn't recommend that any more regardless of the season. With high season approaching I would suggest booking BKK hotels a bit earlier. Pattaya wasn't any different than in years past.
