I got fed up with mediocre girls asking for 3000 Baht in Sukhumvit. It took a few days to work out a strategy that would work for me. These problems with Line occurred with multiple girls (about 10) and when the girl gave me a QR code, there was no problem. I have not tried asking for line numbers.

I am not alone with this type of problem, but the fix is to remove Line from my cell phone, come up with a new LineID name and reinstall the app. By doing that, I would lose all of my contacts that are currently in Line. That seems to be my only option to fix the problem. It is a shame the Thai girls haven't learned about WhatsApp, as that app is much more intuitive and reliable.

My response to Ksalter123's experience being price gouged is that he made very typical newbie mistakes. He is not just new to Bangkok, but new to mongering. Yes, he should have read the forum more carefully, but I remember some of the dumb shit I did when I was a newbie, including leaving $1000 USD out on a table when I left my Airbnb in Sto Domingo to go work out at a nearby gym. She was so GFE in bed, that I forgot that she wasn't actually my girlfriend. LINE have a possible answer in their faq for this: "To prevent the search feature from being abused, the feature will temporarily be suspended if an ID or phone number is searched for (or the wrong one is entered) too many times. For security reasons, we cannot provide details such as how long suspensions are for. ".

There's also an option in line that needs to be set to allow others to add you by ID. Default setting is yes, but perhaps some girls have mistakenly turned it off. Same for add by phone number, but there I think the default setting is off.

My guess it's one of these two things causing the problem, and the solution is to ask for their qr code instead.

Other than that I disagree about line being inferior to whatsapp. I've been using line for 15+ years I think, much longer than whatsapp, and have always considered it superior to whatsapp, or any other chat app I've tried. It also has all those cute bells and whistles that asian girls typically like easily available, and which seem to only now be coming to other big chat apps, in a much more limited and difficult to use form.

Where are they now? I have memories of some Soi Cowboy bar personalities from decades ago. Just wondering if anybody knows their current station in life and what they might be doing these days. In no particular order:

Every night, Hans would be sitting at the end of the bar along with "patrons" enjoying their customary seats that had their names fixed with small brass / bronze plates that noted that those four seats were "reserved".

Cactus John. The papasan / manager of Cactus Bar; an affable and interesting dude who, in my opinion, had the worst taste in music imaginable (LOL). He was a righteously degenerate and fun-loving guy who might've had the biggest drink tab every night if he didn't enjoy his position. 20-baht table dances were probably introduced by John, that featured bottomless dancers moving table-to-table and offering up "tacos" for those who were hungry. LOL (Even if you didn't eat them, you were able to inspect them from inches away from your nose.).

In fact, one just left. Her photo looked really good. Asked her to send a selfie no filter. Selfie looked not really good, but still good. Showed up wearing a mask, which is a pretty big red flag these days, but thought maybe the gal was shy. Asked her to take off the mask while going up in the elevator, after the other passengers had exited. Didn't look like anyone I'd like to fuck. Showed her the photo and said she did not look like photo. She blah-blah-blah and demanded 1000 to go. Told her to fuck off and took her down in the elevator.

Based on another experience that fortunately did not go further than my phone, I'm thinking this is, at least in some cases, a bit more organized than just a random women photoshopping their photos, which is what I thought at first.

I think what's happening, at least in some cases, is that there are some scumbags that advertises photos of some decent looking women (nothing spectacular, just an average 7 or at best a weak 8), and then sends some random hag off to meet you at the agreed on place (your hotel / condo). At that time, depending on how sex-starved you are, you might, I assume, bang her anyway, or if you reject her, she will demand a hefty sum to leave. In my case, I had offered my usual 1500, which was accepted immediately or almost so (I'm not going to spend time more than 2-3 the messages to discuss the price. If they don't like my offer, better just move to the next one), and she demanded 1000 to leave.
I imagine the idea is that many guys will pay her the 1000 to leave rather than risk some spectacle, and then the scumbags organizing this will send her off to the next sucker.

In my one experience where I met her I would not say she was a complete leper, but rather than the expected 7, it was something I'd rate as 3. I was not even 100% sure it was not a ladyboy before she took of her mask, and when I asked for her ID, she mumbled something about being from Vietnam, and therefore did not have ID. She also insisted it was her photo that I showed her on the phone, "but maybe photoshop. I don't know". I'd not say conclusively it was not her, as I guess some of these annoying filters could make me look like a young Cindy Crawford, but as far I'm concerned it might as well have been a completely different person.

Probably the only way to avoid this, if you are vary of the confrontation, is to insist on a video call, though who knows how long it will be till the filters are good enough to fake that too (if not already).

I've had two similar experiences during my two weeks so far actually. One was the night I arrived, where it was indeed the same person, but via some filter her weight had been reduced by at least 30 kg. I hired tour guides for cultural and food tourism. FYI it's not possible to get the smell of curry crab off your fingers with anything less caustic than sulfuric acid. Lemon juice kinda works. The Ramen near Snow White massage was mediocre. Also, muy Thai fights are a lot of fun. Put that on your dance card.

When I was there a couple of years ago, it was 2500 baht for MSOG for the hour. DATY, FS, DFK, etc. I did see a Filipina named Cristina from Massage Republic for 4 k. She had natural DDs. There are also some massage places on the other side of Sukhumvit Road near Emporium, though their names escape me. You should be able to have a good time for no more than 4 k baht per hour.
