If all the articles you're referring to are over a month old, then they're just reporting a promise that wasn't fulfilled (end legal last night).

Posts: 347What is the current status of Marijuana in Thailand?
My friend and I are about to pack for our annual trip to Bangkok. Despite his advanced age (early 70's), he enjoys a joint or two before sex. He used to smuggle marijuana into the country, but of course this has been unnecessary in the last few years. He is now talking about smuggling some type of weed because he thinks marijuana has been criminalized again. Personally, I think anyone who smuggles drugs into Thailand at his age is showing signs of dementia!
In all seriousness, we cannot figure out if this is true. Google is no help, as there are numerous links to stories about how the status of marijuana will change in 2025 (ie, today). But, there is nothing to indicate that this change in the law has actually happened.
Can someone who is actually in Thailand help him? Is marijuana still legal in the Land of Smiles?

Posts: 2884I used to love Adelitas in Tijuana, and the Lengua tacos on the street corner near there.

Bangkok will blow the dudes mind if he hasnt ever been there, and it still blows my mind after 35 ish years.
6 days on the ground is just a taste. Especially with jet lag and the squirts from traveling etc. But hey, if he wants to spend the time after dreaming.
I'm not going to tell the dude not to come, but I have never come over for less than 2 weeks. Its a long road.
My advice to the dude is to avoind Fiw Fans and TF the net and get out there on the streets and hunt.

Posts: 497 days IN bkk is definitely enough assuming:
You have a solid plan for all activities including back ups before you arrive including lining up TF types.
Personally I don't even mind the jet lag phase as I get outcall "massages" between naps till I'm 100%. It's pricier than going out but personally worth the convenience.
Also, once you have a rough plan, see if it justifies the trip in your head again before deciding.

Posts: 49Surely above market rates, but sometimes justified
Anyone who's on limited time and not pressed for money would understand. Worth it just in terms of time saved and the drama of negotiations avoided.

Posts: 18757The only reason to go to Tijuana is if you are already in San Diego. I would never make a special trip just to go there and I have been going there for almost 35 years.

And as for jet lag -- everybody deals with that differently, but I sleep on the plane and force myself into the local time zone the next day. Never takes more than 24 hours. Get lots of sunshine.

It is 5 to 7 days better than going anywhere else in the world for 5-7 days. Especially Tijuana, which is a sewer.

There are slums and dirty messes in Bangkok, but the lower Sukhumvit area has been radically cleaned up in the last decade or so. The transit system is outstanding.

Posts: 1358LOL I do appreciate home after visiting Tijuana. It was my first international experience with this hobby and it will always have some weird nostalgia to me. But your point is well received. I'll be honest, Asia in general is very foreign to me. So that is a bit intimidating, yet simulataneously alluring. The food, the language, the customs. All unknowns to me. But I'm adaptable and always uber respectful and aware I'm a guest.

Posts: 1358Yeah, I would feel much better about a week trip with a 12-15 direct flight. But from homebase, the shortest route is at 25 hours. Brutal.

That said, I think back (many years ago) to my first visit to HK in Tijuana. Or my first visit to Medellin, or other locales. For whatever reason, I think it's almost impossible to recapture the magic of that first experience. And I'm debating with myself. Does that first BKK visit overcome the beatdown of the trip. The internal debate goes on. LOL. Thank you for your thoughts!

Posts: 1358Thanks for the comparison. It's valuable to me. I've probably logged over 100 nights in Tijuana, so I'm familiar with the game there. And I'm not sure how long it's been since your last visit, but your representation is accurate. (Though $80 in today's environment would be rare. Typically, I'm happy at $100.) And you are right about those massages, which is exactly why BKK is calling me.

Generally speaking, facial beauty is most important to me. And a girl can be too skinny, IMO. But, ai do find Asian women attractive and I'm certain there are more than a few fish out there that I'll find more than acceptable.
Thanks for the input.

Posts: 1358Thanks, that's exactly the type of opinion I'm interested in. I have thought about spending two weeks and I might still do that. If I go the 6 day route, I'm counting an additional day to allow for the extreme jet lag. Personally, 2025 will be a transition year for me. Not sure what my mongering future holds, but getting to Thailand is a priority, even if it's a grind to get it done in a week. It just seems like something I can't miss.

Posts: 1134It can, but most pharmacies on Suhkumvit did not have it last I checked. The one that did have it was a large pharmacy near Nana, on the side closest to Asoke, and same side of the road as Terminal 21. The pharmacy is called South-East Asia pharmacy, or something like that, if I remember correctly.

The reduced price of PrEP there, if you buy two extra bottles, means the included std and kidney tests will be more or less free.

At the risk of being trolled (despite warnings from our admin), does anyone know if Truvada or similar PrEP can be purchased at a pharmacy in BKK without a doctor's prescription?
I would prefer a location in Sukhumvit. Thanks.
