I later moved to an Airbnb and walked to classic many times over the course of about 7 weeks and I saw that many people do stay there. Especially in the elevator going to T5 I would see other mongers get out on the 4th floor I think those guys were staying there.
From what I could tell it looks just like an average hotel but It would be convenient to stay there for access to T2 and T5 and has some restaurants attached too and is walking distance to a mall. But if you wanted to bring in civvies or street girls or girls you met from online, then I think Classic would not be good for that.

P.S.: I may stay there for first few days during my upcoming may trip but I haven't decided yet.

Posts: 183Tip for remembering to retrieve your card at an ATM
When I use an ATM, I put my wallet in my left hand after pulling the card out. I don't put it back in my pocket unless I can see the card replaced in it's slot.

Posts: 183NFC = Near Field Communication
This tech has been out for several years but has yet to become popular in the US. It has better traction in the UK, EU, and APAC.

It's considered safer than tap-and-pay because your card number is not transmitted to the merchant's POS device. The NFC chip on your phone sends a "token" (digital code) instead which is then sent to the payment processor, where it is mapped back to your card at your bank for the authorization.
ApplePay works in a similar manner, but is not very popular yet outside the US.
Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.

Posts: 1136This will vary from place to place I suspect. There are plenty of reports of people getting their lost card back after showing the passport e.g. In Thailand, so I think the advice of using an ATM inside / outside a bank office is good and I also prefer that. Of course, if you're actively thinking about that being the reason for using a particular ATM, you're also less likely to forget the card there.

Posts: 1136NFC works for paying in Indonesia indeed, if the terminal supports it. I just checked my google wallet and see I paid at several different places via tap-to-pay on my phone. I'm guessing what you quote above means is that cards issued by indonesian banks cannot yet be linked up to google pay (the google pay app functionality is what was merged into google wallet I think, not the Google pay system itself), but does not affect non-indo cards.

Dear All,
I will be I will be in Jakarta this weekend, and will share all my experiences as and how I come across them, have been following this forum for past 6 months, and most of the reports (80-90%) are about Classic, it almost feels like I will be visiting Classic and not Jakarta LOL.
Just wondering if there are any locations or setups for casual interactions (like not bang-bang) but some foreplay (DFK, casual touches, etc only), this is mainly to kill some time between the sessions or like a recharge / warm-up for the next session. I have read about Kotah-Indah bars but from what I have understood so far they are also about taking the girl to the room for a bang. Haven't read a lot about Blok M and if they provide such entertainment, Malio from what I have understood is a strip club with option to take girl to room (this is more in line with what I am looking for), however I understand that girls over here will try to rip you off with the shots scam (I will give it a try to see for myself). It will be helpful if anybody could shed some light on these setups and whether they or something similar is available in Jakarta.

Posts: 104The security personnel don't have access to the keys. ATMs are typically managed by third party agents responsible for loading and unloading the cash. If security staff had the keys, it would make it much easier for robbers to knock him down and steal the money.

The next day, during bank hours, I went to the branch and was informed that all ATM cards left behind / struck inside the machine are sent to the bank's head office, where they are later destroyed. This process is handled by a third-party service, not the branch itself. Unfortunately, they never return the cards. The only option is to apply for a replacement.

So my Christmas and new year Jakarta trip is over with not much to report. Visited blok m a few times but it's hit and miss. On Friday's it rocking with a lot of personnel but not so on Saturday.
However there are lots of SW around the area at all the back and front of Jl falethan. Some were not interesting but there were a few lookers early. When I passed by late most were gone.
There is one that sits on a motorcycle real looker but seriously bad attitude I have seen her around for years. In my bar the asking rate by some is over 1 M which I find a bit over priced for the quality but there were a few 8/9 on Friday but they were occupied very quickly. I did try massage from different places but the room condition were a bit off. Not a turn on atmosphere.

Posts: 166Have you also looked through the Jakarta Hotels thread? I stated a few times Classic is fine, though some like to spend more for a better hotel. For 450-500 k it's fine but you can also book others for 350-450 k which are newer but obviously not so convenient.

What I'the also add, not often mentioned:
- Nasi Goreng Bistik right opposite, top rated in Jakarta.
- q easy to get to airport.
- room is kinda old but pretty well kept.
- service was fine.
- I didn't have bfast but saw plenty of guests who did have it.
What else did you want to know? Because it's a 3-star hotel, don't expect it to have a ton of other facilities.

Posts: 2882Thanks a lot. I'm screwed though, as it seems Indonesia is the odd man out for Google Pay. This is dumb and a major flaw of the NFC wallets. Fancy a credit card you can only use in certain countries.

P.S. I'm still in doubt though, for ChatGPT tells me I should be able to do "NFC payments" in Indonesia with my already installed Google Wallet with its registered foreign visa debit card. Go figure. Maybe the non-availability of Google Wallet in Indonesia only means the Google Wallet app is not available on the Indonesian Google Play store.

Posts: 1136Yes, NFC via phone (i.e., tap-to-pay via phone) is safer than NFC via physical card. AFAIK Google wallet is the new name for Google pay.

Posts: 110I used the search looked through a few 100 posts but nothing about pros and cons about the classic hotel specifically like a normal hotel review and nothing on if they allow outside guests and why guys prefer to say at non mongering venue hotel and travel to this hotel if they travel to this hotel everyday anyways, there has to be some reason why they don't just stay at classic hotel and choose to travel to the hotel daily absorbing travel costs that would negate any savings. One reason might be that they don't want a mongering venue on record but if this is not an issue would they just stay at classic hotel. Hard to have any plausible deniability if you stay at classic hotel as well as the other venues I mentioned in the original post this much I understand is there any other reason why not to?

Posts: 2882Is NFC (through Google Pay I presume) safer than tap-to-pay with the credit card? By the way, is Google Pay the same as Google Wallet? I don't see any "Google Pay" app in Google Play any more. I find only "Google Wallet". Confused. Even my bank mixes the two apps in its FAQs. Can of worms. I think I'll stay with "tap-to-pay" my credit card if possible.
