Yes, it is all over Colombian news that Colombian Immigration is looking for people engaged in sexual tourism and trafficking.
https://www.elcolombiano.com/antioqu...eta-GC29813757
In this article, it highlights an 80 year old American (with no criminal history or negative information in various systems) was denied entry after his luggage was searched and he was interviewed but did not give information about his tourism plans. The article states: It turns out that this foreigner brought in his suitcase a whole arsenal of toys and sexual articles, from condoms, lubricants and gels, to whips, handcuffs, dildos and vibrators. "During the immigration interview, the foreigner did not provide clear answers about the purpose of his visit. After a baggage inspection, with the support of the Police, elements were found that allowed to determine that he intended to enter for the purpose of sexual exploitation," they added from the Migration social networks.
I then went to the X / Twitter account of Colombian Immigration which confirmed the story. I attached a screenshot from the X account.
Have tourism plans. Pack discretely. Plan for searches of luggage, electronics, etc.

Posts: 2018Yup. There's probably a bit of truth to the story, but the guy is likely leaving some key facts out.

Posts: 1732Decided to head downtown today, as I haven't been down there during the week in several months. Stopped in a couple of casas as well as went around the church. Saw a couple on the street that I would do. When checking out the casas, saw a really cute girl with a thick body so I decided to pull the trigger. Cost has gone up to 80,000 for a half half hour since my last visit. It was worth it as the girl had a sweet personality and the sex was good as well as an unexpected BBBJ. I didn't take any pics but I did capture a couple while I was getting dressed and she was in the shower. I got a bunch of cards but threw them away. I did find one in my pocket when I got home so I took a pic. No rain today. The weather is pretty nice.

Posts: 72It's not entirely clear whether the passengers who were denied were for associations with CP / SA along with the suspicious luggage or whether some were denied ONLY for suspicious luggage. I don't pack anything crazy, but that pic in the video the other day looked like mostly condoms & lube which doesn't seem outlandish -- I definitely pack a bunch of condoms at the very least and usually lube. (Pic is screenshot from the video, not my luggage).

Posts: 878Like I said, I know I am being a bit paranoid. That being said, I cancelled my trip. I don't feel like sweating that bullshit when its easy to just book a different spot. If Colombia was the only option, I would def still risk it, but too many other places to choose Colombia right now.

Sucks, feels like the day of the monger king mega weekend trips to Medellin may be coming to an end. I posted the same question in the Sosua forum, if Medellin dies down, where will the next hot spot be? I think Cuba needs to get with the free world and open up and turn Havana into the next Medellin.
I think for this trip I am going to follow the trail of TomJackin and check out El Salvador. Seems like a safe alternative.

Posts: 1702Hundreds refused is not true. This is how lies are spread and get people to believe it. I'm sure the name was intentionally cropped out of the picture for a reason.

Posts: 1732I posted this news story several days ago which indicates there is heightened scrutiny at MDE. Regarding phones specifically, I've only seen people talking about it on social media but I haven't seen anything specific from the government. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_C_qotp294.

Posts: 285Not true. This would be in the news if it was. Hundreds would overwhelm the capacity of airlines to fly back. Typical flights only have a handful of empty unsold seats. An individual was denied and is now trying to blow it up. Ignore and pass.

Posts: 5459The last time I arrived in MDE, there was only one guy at Immigration, trying to handle a planeload of incoming tourists. The line took 3 hours.

Posts: 18757That is because it is a BS story. If him and "hundreds of others" were refused entry on October 8, then you would have heard about it in more places than the one facebook post. The person mentioned someone coming into the room talking about pics on their phone, but never mentioned anything about them taking their phone or more importantly having them unlock the phone. Of course it would take more than 2 hours for them to get into the phone and also go through it. Especially if phones were taken from any of the "hundreds of others. " Who packs credit cards in their suitcase? Who looks for drugs going into Colombia? You also can not get anyone in a plane in the 15 minutes they claimed they were given.

Posts: 878Phone Check at Maria Cordova
So I have been following the reports from dcbornrob on youtube and here as well and it looks like many solo foreigners are having there phones checked once they land in Colombia. Agents are going through their phone and apparently looking for anything that could incriminate the phone owner with human trafficking or under age prostitution. I have a trip booked for the end of the year which is fully refundable. I am having second thoughts due to possibly having my phone run through, who knows who the Colombian government could due to your phone once it is unlocked. I know I am being paranoid, but it doesn't seem unreasonable to me you could be denied entry even if they find an older text message where you engaged in prostitution and they than ban you from entering due to bad current relations with USA. I heard they are also adding you to a travel list where every time you travel you will go through secondary searches. Or worse they put bogus shit on your phone which falsely incriminates when you try to leave. Again, I am totally aware of how stupid this all sounds, but it is so easy to cancel and pick a different location which doesn't have the "heat" on it at the moment.
So has any one here got info on how likely it is you will have your phone checked upon entering Colombia? If they are picking 1 out of 10 solo tourists, then to me, it wouldn't be worth it. I wouldn't want to be sweating the whole trip that they aren't following all the shit you do on your phone if they pick you. And no, I am not a burner phone guy. If that is the case, I would just pick a different local as well.

Posts: 18757I am American and that is like when chicks ask what time is it in your country now. I get that they do not know geography and that a few countries have more than one time zone though.
