There is nothing more the Dems can get out of allowing Trump and his Congressional Repubs to prolong their government shutdown.

Who in the world honestly thinks a newly won "written" agreement, legislation or law would prevent Trump, his fellow MAGAs in Congress and abetted by their 6 MAGAs in the Supreme Court would honor ANY law they passed even if it were written in the blood of their children?

They wouldn't. Jeffries and Schumer know they wouldn't. The 5 (not 8. Three had already sided with signing) Dems who flipped know they wouldn't. The GOP majority would just delay, delay, delay or outright overturn such a Dem-"won" agreement or law until it was rendered pointless.

No. The only way to stop Trump and his Congressional Repubs from continuing to do serious damage to America and its economy is with a very different election outcome. And everyone knows the Repub MAGAs will still fight tooth and nail, attack, maim and kill cops, try to assassinate numerous duly-elected officials, etc to reverse that as well!.

Upon reflection, I more or less, came to the same conclusion. IMHO, however, their timing to end the shutdown, could have been "planned/crafted" a little better, before deciding to cave.

Meaning, this close to the success of BIG WIN in the 2025 Elections and the "NO KINGS" rallies, did kind of sour those victories, somewhat IMHO. Although FWIW, I think that hardworking Americans, do have a clearer picture, of just how cruel and callous the MAGA Fuhrer and Repubs, can be and have been.

IMHO, it should have been dragged out, for just a few more weeks/days (it was already 36 days, so a few more days), taking it a little past Thanksgiving, which would have given Dems a chance to leave an incredible indelible imprint of Repub carnage and suffering, on the American people, and given Dems a magnificent campaign runway, into just how cruel, rotten and callous Repubs, were at Thanksgiving. Essentially, milking that shock and awe, all the way up to the 2026 Midterms...just before 2026 Thanksgiving, could have been a nice golden ticket.

Along the way, here is what the Dems' got and learned from their messaging and refusing to immediately sign the Repub CR:

The majority of the American people blame Trump and the Repubs for the shutdown. Polls show this.

The American people are riled up and emotionally opposed to Repubs in record numbers. The No Kings Demonstrations showed this.

That emotional investment translates into votes for Dems. Virtually every election since January shows this, especially last week.

Those 5 Dems that flipped did the right thing at the right time.

Personally, I thought it was a bit of a wasted opportunity, by Dems, I mean, just imagine it...

• A post Thanksgiving media blitz, showing the stark contrast of the MAGA Fuhrer, throwing more ostentatious parties with flowing food and drink, in true, Marie Antoinette style, "...let them eat cake", mid-eighteenth century draconian French revolution pageantry vs. most vulnerable Americans families and kids, unnecessarily starving and going hungry, out on the in the cold, mean streets and soup line kitchens of America.

• Plans to remake marble presidential bathrooms vs. gov't workers unpaid bills, as unpaid workers suffer racking up debt, during the shutdown.

• Ridiculous, wasteful and unnecessary purchase of 2 New Private Jets for Kristi Noem vs. unpaid TSA/FAA gov't workers, flight delays, shutdowns and curtailed schedules, as travelers suffer from the chaos.

• Egomaniac destruction of the WH East Wing to remake into $300 million palatial gold and marble presidential ballroom vs. while affordability is front of mind for most vulnerable, who are struggling to loose their homes, the rising cost of rent, inflation and lost SNAP benefits.

• $40 billion to Argentina vs. American farmers and ranchers who are struggling to meet their financial debt obligations.

All this suffrage around Thanksgiving, makes for a powerful an image, I don't think Americans would forget, at the 2026 Ballot-Box.

Sure, if the Biden-Harris Envy of the World Economy had not been reversed by Trump with his typically crap Repub economic policies and stewardship, failed tariffs and trade wars producing weak annualized GDP Growth, jobs creation numbers so bad anyone at the Bureau of Labor Statistics who dares to accurately report them gets fired by Trump, the unemployment rate climbing, the price of groceries, damn I'm glad Trump invented that word, higher this year under Trump than it was last year under Biden, the rate of inflation higher this year under Trump than it was last year under Biden, even the average price of a gallon of regular gas more often than not being higher this year under Trump than it was before the election and before Trump took office, layoffs skyrocketing, etc, then continuing the increased subsidies for the ACA / Obamacare would not be critical to rescuing America from the Trump economy and keeping Americans afloat.

But, alas, thanks to your vote but more specifically to the vote swing from Dem to Repub by a relatively tiny handful of angry Muslims spread across the only 3 swing states that mattered, America does need it now. Which is the same reason America needed it when the increases were enacted originally; Due to Trump's typically crap Repub economic policy, stewardship and results.

You know, pretty much the same reason Trump himself is proposing that emergency welfare checks be issued ASAP to a whopping $2000 for every American who has been victimized by and suffered severe pain from his economic policy and stewardship results just after a measly 9 months of him inflicting it on America.
