I am looking at staying at the Aloft Hotel Sukhumvit 11. Does anybody have any experience with this hotel? It is part of Marriott. Is Suk 11 a convenient place to monger from?

Posts: 514Just an update to my own recommended short-stay condo, "Hyde" on Soi 11. I just bagged a deal on Agoda at €55 per night! It's a one-bed at 48 sq. Meter. So While I think it will be a studio apartment rather than a full 1-bed apartment it's still bigger than most hotel rooms. At that price (for the modern standards) I'd say it's a steal.

Posts: 514Another Short Stay Condo I stayed in
Another apartment I stayed at for 4 nights was the 6th Avenue on Soi 15, off Sukhumvit Road. Modern, nice decor, bed, shower etc.
The best thing is the location, it's literally minutes walk to Thermae or BTS and say 10 minutes to Soi Cowboy, or 15 minutes to Nana (briskly).
The negative for me was it's a low rise apartment block, so not much of a view and you do get a lot of road noise at night, but doesn't most places! My 1 bed apartment had a balcony too not that I ever used it!.
All mod con's provided and high-speed WIFI. No cleaning however but it can be arranged for extra fees.
I booked it at short notice last January and it worked out roughly €80 per night, I see on booking.com it's currently about €110 per night. I don't know but I guess it's all about supply & demand at any particular time.
I would stay there again for the location, just wish it had better sound proofing. Very interested to hear if other people have stayed in better around the heart of the action?

Posts: 514Serviced short-stay Apartment / Condo opposed to Hotel?
Just thought I'd start a thread to gauge people's experiences / views on Short stay apartment / condo's in BKK. In other words recommendations rather than the hotels.
Has anyone stayed in one within say the last 6 months that they'd highly recommend, book again or avoid?
Particularly interested in the areas we all call Monger Central I. E. Around Nana, Sukhumvit Road Soi say 3 - 20 , around Thermae, SOI Cowboy, Terminal 21 etc etc.
I'll start off with two I've stayed in:
Hyde Apartments down Soi 11.
About €100 per night for a 2 bed apartment in a modern high-rise (32 story building). Great views of the city skyline with floor to ceiling windows. It also had a balcony but it seemed to be locked / sealed probably to prevent Jumpers, LOL. Apartment was very clean but I'd say on the small side. You couldn't really walk around the bed without hitting the wall. It you got too physical in bed you could easily have sent her head through the wall or against the window. Also nice showers but you had to squeeze in the door of the bathroom, pin yourself against the wall, close the door just in order to be able to access the shower.
Also for a 2 bed apartment they were very scabby with the towels only two given the size of facecloths!! There was a washer / dryer in the apartment to be fair. I am not sure of the story with cleaning, I was only there a couple of days but I got the impression if you want a cleaner you have to book it separately. There was also signs all over the place about you'll be fined if caught smoking. I'd recommend check the bins and generally take photos of the apartment on arrival. I found Cigerette butts and tobacco in the bins, I wasn't going to get saddled with the fine!
Girl friendly, they give you a photo ID card on arrival but the 24 hour guards welcomed anyone I brought in with me, there is a log book for "guests" at the security desk but I got the impression the guards couldn't be arsed. At the same time I went down to the lobby to meet girls, I don't think they'd be let up on their own. You also need the key card for the lifts. Also one day the lifts went off for two hours for maintenance. I was on the 19th floor!
Very quiet at night, well sound proofed.
Possible big negative for short-stay guests, you are prohibited from using the pool or Gym onsite.
Location was good with loads of bars, food places and starbucks, 7-11 close by. Also Soi 11 has loads of FL's hanging around out the hotels and Condos as soon as it gets dark with was a pleasant surprise! I grabbed one, only charge 2,000 and she was damn hot and really nice girl too.
It is about a 10 minute brisk walk to ASOK BTS, so slightly less to say Thermae but that's walking faster than your average tourist hogging up the paths! So it is quite far down Soi11.
All in all I would repeat unless I can find anything better or equal at a better price. They do have 1 bed apartments too but they aren't much cheaper. They are on the usual booking engines.

I stayed at Ruamchitt 4 times over the last five months; always happy there, nice staff, nice pool, higher floor rooms, preferably 6th floor are fine.

Posts: 263Is the ruamchitt hotel guest friendly?
LOL, just joking.
Will be transiting thru BKK and staying 1 day outbound (20 hours) and 1 day inbound (17 hours).
Have already booked this hotel on both legs, as it's cheap and besides Thermae Cafe it's located easy walking distance from both Cowboy and Nana.
Has anyone stayed there recently?
Booked a Superior Double Room on Booking.Com for 49.00 USD per night.

Posts: 2201Bangla Road has a completely different feel from anything I've seen in Bangkok. Bangla is open and refreshing compared to the congested roads and sidewalks of lower Sukhumvit.

Posts: 2659Bangla Road is comparable with Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy, except that Bangla Road has much more open air bars.

I had seen some feedback on Bangla Road and just assume it was in Bangkok. It sounded like a great area. Is there any area in Bangkok like that or is it best to stay in the Thermae / Nana Plaza area?

Posts: 2659Not sure what you mean, because Bangla Road is in Patong, Phuket.

I stayed at Four Points Sheraton last time and location was great for Thermae and Nana Plaza. I am planning another trip and was thinking of staying near Bangla Road. I heard that it is about a 8 minute taxi ride from Sheraton to Bangla Road. Senior members can you tell me which is the better option for freelancers?

Maison hotel does permit people to walk through their driveway, but for a 100 B per person charge. Signs prohibiting walking through even note the 100 B walkthrough fee.

Having said that, even after I learned of this. I continued to just walk around the Marriott, rather than paying 200 B for the gal and I to use this short cut.

Did stay at the S15 Sukhumvit next to thermae for one night due to calendar mix up in Mid Feb 2026. The rooms were surprisingly clean and nice. But there is no pool, the gym was tiny, and the breakfast options were limited. But based on the quality of the room, thought place offered good value for the money if that is one's main concern. While I never took advantage of it, I did like the open area deck along Sukumvit, with the outdoor grilling dining option. If in a group, think it would be a good spot to eat, drink and people watch one evening before moving on to Thermae or the street scene.
