Posts: 7970BLS officials trying very hard not to get fired by Trump
Hey, there's more "worst since the previous Repub economic disaster" data in the news today!
U.S. payrolls rose by 178,000 in March, more than expected; unemployment at 4.3%
https://www.cnbc.com/2026/04/03/jobs...ndroidappshare
I think many people missed that the February jobs numbers that started out at a terrible MINUS 92,000 got revised down even further to a MINUS 133,000.Nonfarm payrolls rose a seasonally adjusted 178,000 in March, a reversal from the 133,000 decline in February and better than the Dow Jones consensus estimate for 59,000.
The unemployment rate edged lower to 4.3%, though that was largely from a sharp reduction in the labor force.
Wages also rose less than expected, with average hourly earnings up just 0.2% for the month and 3.5% from a year ago. The annual increase was the lowest since May 2021.
As has been the case, health care was responsible for much of the growth, with the sector adding 76,000 jobs.
I think BLS officials trying desperately to keep their jobs put out some number that approximates the reality that is bound to come out eventually but at least won't throw failed so-called president Trump into more of a blithering, blathering tizzy than he is usually in until he falls asleep through a couple of dozen Dear Leader Cabinet meetings, forgets about it, and then they come out with a downward revision to the real number.
God only knows how far that initial 178,000 jobs number will be revised down to in the end.
Ballpark estimate, it is possible that as it stands now Trump's second horrific term is racking up an average of about 6,000 jobs per month as we approach the halfway point with little reason on the horizon to expect it to improve. Improving upon what they inherit from outgoing Dems, no matter how good the conditions are, just isn't what Repubs do for a living. And least so for Trump. At best, a Dem Majority in the House can at least prevent him and his fellow Repubs in Congress from producing as horrible crap results as they could and definitely would otherwise.
Oh well.
We tried.

This ought to be good.
Certainly nothing as bad or worse than Trump did to America in his first term and doing now in his second term.
BTW, are you sure you're from Canada and not China or Russia Russia Russia? Just asking, considering how much you're cheerleading for Trump vs somebody like Biden who actually produced historically positive results for the USA and not much good for China and Russia Russia Russia, the exact opposite of what Trump has done in his first and second term.

Given 1-2 more Repub presidencies or perhaps by the end of the current one, USA minus California will likely have dropped off the top three list altogether and California will move into the 2nd or 3rd place position. Hard to say which position considering what a bang-up job Trump is doing to make China's economy "great, the likes of which no one has ever seen. " Then again, that winning trajectory for California could be reversed if once again a few Californians make the huge mistake of electing a Repub governor.
California overtakes Japan to become the worlds fourth-largest economy
https://www.cnn.com/2025/04/25/busin...riffs-intl-hnk
Now I see why my California rental property neighborhood rent rolls keep going up and up no matter how disastrous the Repub national economy.California has surpassed Japan to become the worlds fourth-largest economy, Gov. Gavin Newsom said, as he warned of the threat posed by President Donald Trumps tariffs to the tech powerhouses fast-growing wealth.
The Golden States nominal gross domestic product (GDP) reached $4.1 trillion in 2024, according to preliminary data from the US Bureau of Economic Analysis, edging past Japans $4.02 trillion nominal GDP in the same period as recorded by the International Monetary Fund.
That means only the United States, China and Germany have larger economies than California, which outpaced all three countries with growth of 6% last year, according to the release.
Of course, anyone who can't cut it in the single greatest state economy in the USA is always welcome and in fact encouraged to move your deadbeat butt to a deadbeat Red state like Texas, get the hell off our crowded freeways, stop cluttering up our housing market and wait for the next disproportional bail-out by the Dems for your new Red state home after the next inevitable Repub economic disaster. You know, because Hootervile, Pixley or whatever Red town Granny got dropped off in her rocker needs it so much more.
Despite Republican opposition, red states fare well in Biden's COVID-19 bill
https://www.reuters.com/article/worl...idUSKBN2B22IZ/
Red states are big winners of Bidens landmark lawsWASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Joe Biden's $1.9 trillion coronavirus aid bill was crafted without Republican input and passed Congress without a single Republican vote. Nevertheless, Republican-leaning states are due to get a disproportionate share of many of its benefits.
https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/14/busin...ing-jobs-biden
Good jobs created by Dem Presidents and Dem Congresses in Red states that can't otherwise create them on their own are as valid a reason as any for Americans who can't cut it in Blue states to move to those Red states I suppose.Last month, battery recycling company Redwood Materials broke ground on a $3.5 billion battery plant in South Carolina that is expected to create 1,500 new jobs.
The plant aims to eventually make enough battery components to power more than a million electric vehicles a year. Redwood Materials specifically cited the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act, Americas biggest-ever climate investment, as a reason why it decided to build the facility.
This is just one example of a Republican state benefiting from the private investment boom set off by the IRA, a signature legislative achievement for President Joe Biden that every Republican in Congress voted against.
Its part of a broader trend where red states have emerged as big winners from both the IRA and the CHIPS and Science Act, another signature Biden law that passed with some Republican support in 2022.
Most (51%) of the investments directly tied to incentives from the IRA and the CHIPS Act are flowing to Republican states, compared with 20% to blue states, according to a Fitch Ratings analysis shared exclusively with CNN. Fitch defined red states as those that voted for former President Donald Trump in 2020 by more than three percentage points.
California, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and the Dems offer a heartfelt, "You're welcome, Aunt Bea, Jethro, Gomer, Tiny, Elvis and Granny. "

Trump isn't doing everything correctly but still doing $300% better than Biden. Hopefully when he is done in USA he will come to Canada and fix this country. Unfortunately we have another Trudeau or Biden destroying Canada.

Trump's second term is already worse than the first one (which was bad enough that he didn't deserve a second chance), and it has nowhere else to go but even further all the way down the drain due to his stupidity and being surrounded by a bunch of shameless, inept, kiss up lackeys. He basically has only his hardcore, cultish base left. This is ugly, like his Big Ugly (Bullshit) Bill. But, methinks we ain't seen nothing yet. So, buckle up! We still have a long way to go with this clown. Hopefully the midterms will offer up the first major turning point in another direction.

Posts: 2560Then get rid of the federal funds flowing to the states. Let them stand on their own. And decide what their taxpayers' money will be spent on. Move power to the states and cities too. Would you have a problem with that? I bet the end result would be the same as what you see now, migration from places like California to Texas. Comparing those two states, Texans pay 40% less for electricity and gasoline, 60% less for housing, and per capita 65% less for state taxes (source: ChatGPT). Many people will continue to move out of blue states and cities.

" According to ChatGPT, these states have the highest per capita surpluses: North Dakota, Alaska, Wyoming, Utah, Tennessee. These have the highest deficits: New Jersey, Illinois, Connecticut, Massachusetts and California.
And take this, which you quoted, "However, blue states would do well to remember that it is they who are picking up the bill for red states. Before Republicans start criticizing Democrats about their dependence on federal dollars, a quick review of the facts may be warranted. For instance, while federal dollars to New York represented 38% of its state budget in 2022, Texas received the same proportion, and Florida received even more (40%)"
Wow, Texas received the same proportion of its state budget from the Feds as New York! And Florida got 2% more! Well, duh, if your budget is sky high, like New Jersey, and you get the same percentage of your budget from the federal government as more frugal states, then you're benefitting more from the federal dollars.
Also, the article says that both blue and red states get more from the federal government than they pay the feds. If true, then why is it fair to characterize these gaps as flows of money from blue states to red states? Wouldn't it be better to say federal disbursements to blue states run up the federal deficit less than disbursements to red states? That though wouldn't provide the sense of outrage that the article seeks to convey, "Blue States are the Ones Bailing Out Red States."
Adjusted for purchasing power, California's total GDP is now only 24% higher than Texas'. And Texas' GDP per capita, adjusted for purchasing power, is higher than California's. Expect the trend to continue, Texas will gain on California.

A lot more people have cars and motorcycles, electric lighting, good heating and air conditioning, etc. Their well being has improved dramatically, thanks to China's carbon economy. That's right, China's a carbon state, not an electrostate. 81% of its energy comes from fossil fuels. 15% is from renewables, and 3% from nuclear.

And a final comment about "to China's chagrin, some years later. Huge smog and high CO2 levels engulfed parts of the country. " The majority of Chinese don't give a rats ass about high CO2 levels engulfing parts of their country. (The CO2 rapidly disperses all over the world BTW.) CO2 is colorless, odorless, and non toxic.
What Chinese do care about are levels of particulates, SO2, NOx compounds, and toxic metals, which are harmful to humans and shorten lifespans. I've pointed out to you more than once that the USA, by substituting natural gas for coal, made our air much cleaner. And improved our water too.

While I'm not disputing your ChatGOP "cut-and-paste" factoid hockey assist (although I would like to see for myself, the links associated with the facts and data), allow me to provide a little context of my own, with regards to China's rise in emissions, circa 2000.

Your historical account of China overtaking the U.S. in emissions circa 2000, is correct. However, it does deserves just a little context, I'm sure you'll appreciate.
So while you (or is it ChatGOP?) like to post, pontificating and waxing lyrical about the carbon economy's "what-ifs" and "magic wands", although entertaining (courtesy of ChatGOP?) you should do well to remember, it was about the same time, circa 2000, when China also became "The World's Manufacturer", as American, European and the rest of the industrial and manufacturing world, often sought the lowest cost of labor, production and manufacturing, which more often than not, was China.
So as the rest of the world, was outsourcing large portions of their industry and manufacturing to China (and Asia), they were also outsourcing a rather large portion their factories CO2 emissions, as well. Somewhat I would imagine, to China's chagrin, some years later, when huge smog and high CO2 levels, engulfed parts of the country.
Charted: Chinas Rise to Manufacturing Dominance Over 30 Years, December 9, 2024 https://www.visualcapitalist.com/cha...over-30-years/.
Bottom Line w/r to China Circa 2000: So when you're a country that started at 6% (circa 2000) and now produces, close to 30% of the world's manufacturing (with market share projected to rise to 45% by 2030), as the rest of the world's manufacturing falls (and America is projected to fall from 25% (circa 2000) to 11%), then it should be obvious to anyone, YOU'RE going to BURN LIKE 2.8x to 3.5x TIMES MORE COAL (which was the country's most available fuel source), than the next guy, to produce 30-45% the world's goods.

Your history lesson on China vs. USA Emissions is hilarious, but lets stick to the emissions FACTS, shall we!

As of November 13,2025, Our World in Data, reports that the country with the largest cumulative emissions (CO2 and GHG) in history, since the first year of recording, is the USA (America) in first place, with 434.87 billion tons of CO2/GHG, Europe at 300.9 bn tons and third place China at 285.09 bn tons.
No "what-ifs", "no magic wand" and no MAGA voodoo spin. Just the FACTS, since they began recording emissions data. Period!
The Emissions Bottom Line:
While fossil fuels aren't exactly in favor and by some accounts are plateauing or trending down, many emerging markets / countries, such as Africa, Asia, Indonesia, the Middle-East and Latin America, are siting on huge coal reserves, gas reserves, oil reserves and are looking around at the two (2) biggest cumulative CO2 emissions polluters over the last 125+ years, in America and Europe, that have industrialized and driven their economies burning fossil fuels and are wondering, why can't we do the same, at our discretion?
I'm pretty sure China, asked that very same question, as they began in earnest, industrializing their economies, as they do today with regards to transitioning to greener and cleaner energy.
P.S: Hey, I'm sure your MAGA Fuhrer would be proud, that America is still #1 and the biggest C02/ GHG emissions polluter in history!

What Republicans Dont Want To Say: Blue States Are the Ones Bailing Out Red States
https://time.com/7222411/blue-states...ut-red-states/
Tell Aunt Bea, Jethro, Gomer and yourself, "You're welcome" from me and my fellow tax-payers in California, the fourth biggest economy on the planet. The red state denial of fiscal responsibility is manifest today as misguided voices champion the economic virtues of red states. For instance, President Donald Trump and the GOP have threatened to block disaster relief for Californian wildfires, to obstruct the return of federal relief for state and local tax payments, and to roll back the massive industrial investments from Biden-era legislation. Now, as GOP leaders in both chambers advance their budget proposals, Republicans are pursuing other politically punitive budget measures before the March 14 debt funding deadline.
However, blue states would do well to remember that it is they who are picking up the bill for red states. Before Republicans start criticizing Democrats about their dependence on federal dollars, a quick review of the facts may be warranted. For instance, while federal dollars to New York represented 38% of its state budget in 2022, Texas received the same proportion, and Florida received even more (40%). Similarly, much attention from the GOP is given to Medicaid funding in blue states such as Illinois, but they conveniently ignore the fact that Texas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and West Virginia, among other red states, see a greater share of the cost of their traditional Medicaid programs covered by the federal government.
