When in 2024 the U.S. exported $150 bn in dirty fossil fuels, that still makes it a petrostate and one of the biggest producers and exportors of CO2/ GHG pollution on the plant. Just because the USA, Russia the Saudis, UAE and others, all export or outsource fossil fuels, to be burnt elsewhere in the world, just means they have a more complicated CO2/ GHG pollution accounting ledger, for burning fossil fuels.

The USA is a net importer of crude oil. If you look at crude oil and products refined from crude oil, the trade balance is roughly equal. Exports are about equal to imports.

So if you remove oil from the equation, natural gas accounts for most of net exports. And as I've already told you several times, combustion of gas releases A LOT less SO2, NOx, particulates and harmful metals into the environment than the coal that accounts for the majority of China's energy production.
