Posts: 298Upstairs Accommodation Options on Soi 6?
There are rooms-with-bath but none are listed on accommodation sites, apart from the dreary Queen Vic Pub.
Can anyone kindly point me towards some of the better options? I am not referring to short-time rooms with just a mattress.

Posts: 611Baht Bus Fare Now 15 Baht?
Rode the baht bus about 9:00 pm On April 12 down Second Road from the Runway night market to the Central Mall next door to the Hilton. The window separating the driver from the passengers had a sign saying the fare was 15 baht.

TRIGGER WARNING FOR ALL YOU CHEAP CHARLIES: My personal practice is to pay 20 baht when riding the bus. The extra 10 baht is meaningless to me, but it's double the traditional fare, and what the locals pay. The baht bus drivers work hard, especially when traffic is snarled by high season crowds or (currently) by Songkran water wars. They provide a valuable and reliable service worthy of our support.

Posts: 5459For many Soi 6 ladies, 02.00 in the morning is when they migrate to a host bar, so they can blow their earnings on a young Thai man.

Posts: 298Thanks, good to hear. The general drinks / barfine / upstairs room / ST pricing on the Six is deliberately confusing to extract the maximum from newbie punters, and doesn't do the plain girls any favours either. The tall and stunning can match their prices to Walking Street.

Posts: 298Traffic delays occur. Driver or passenger might need a rest stop. Could break down and need emergency back-up. Shame to waste an air ticket for the sake of an hour's buffer.

Posts: 280One bus driver explained to me that it is because of the increase in gasoline prices. With some luck this might be reversed once the US accept their defeat and oil returns to flow freely like before the war.

Posts: 187572 to 3 hours in a taxi from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi? Your driver must be going 20 km per hour because it is only 120 km. You can make it from Pattaya to the other side of Bangkok on the bus in less than that amount of time. It only takes 4 hours to get to Hua Hin from Pattaya which is twice as far as Bangkok and having to go through Bangkok. And a taxi from Pattaya to the airport is 1000 baht. I think they would charge much more than that for 3 hours.

Posts: 298Unless it's the middle of the night, that's cutting it fine for an international flight. My experience is 2 to 3 hours in the taxi, daytime. Suvarnabhumi is very efficient though and you will get through faster than most places in the West.

Posts: 1059I've heard that some are charging 15 THB, it's the baht bus to Jomtiem but not the central Pattaya buses yet.

A baht bus just charged me 15 instead of the usual 10. Has there been a raise?

Posts: 6804I'll tip the girl BEFORE I take care of the bill. That way there is ZERO chance the bar (or other wait staff / girls) takes the tip I intended for the girl and not the bar.
