Baseload is not so much a technical virtue as a business model the people who invest in coal generators, and nuclear in particular, count on those machines operating at or near full capacity most of the time.
Now Australia is the new shining star of what to be? LOL. You need to follow the news better.

    https://ieefa.org/resources/its-time...its-oil-demand

Australia has the largest trade deficit in refined oil products in the world, is the largest importer of diesel, and has the lowest oil stockpiles of all IEA members – all by a wide margin. Imports of Russian oil are currently banned in Australia; imports from the Middle East are disrupted; China recently banned exports of those three fuels; and its distance makes Europe unlikely to be a realistic supplier. The remaining candidates to provide fuel to Australia are the US, Singapore, South Korea and India.

    And now the next link:

Hundreds of petrol stations across Australia run out of fuel as Labor inks supply deal with Singapore.

Concerns are now broadening to supplies of fertilizer and other chemicals, heaping more pressure on the Albanese government's leveraging of overseas exports of coal and gas in a bid to handle of the crisis.

"It's the only way, that coal and gas, that we're going to be able to keep our fuel and fertilizer coming to our country," he told a press conference.

"We are in the very lucky position that the countries we do import a lot of our food and fertilizer from are also the countries that rely on our coal and gas. So we should be making that point. ".

The shadow resources spokesperson, Susan McDonald, reportedly told the Nine newspapers that "if we can't get the straits open quickly, then lifting sanctions on Russian-produced fertilizer would be required".

End of link. Australian energy policy has left it with two options: send money to Putin or starve to death. Meanwhile, a nation dripping with fossil fuels does not have a way for most of its vehicles to run. You cannot make this stuff up.

You have neglected to mention that China, your ideal electrostate, has masssive refining capacity, and several of the regions where you climate nuts are active like Australia and California have pushed their evil refineries towards "clean" China. Well, those chickens are coming home to roost big time now. Will you climate nuts accept responsibility for your disasterous "clean energy" policies? Of course not! Hell, you are still pushing for them.

Because unlike you, Tiny lives and works in the USA, and he knows how many jobs are mobile. Look at this stat: https://www.yankeeinstitute.org/2025...-out-of-state/

Yes, one in four pension dollars paid into the Connecticut pension system is distributed elsewhere.

According to google, Connecticut is generally more expensive than Florida, with overall cost of living estimates ranging from 12% to 17% higher depending on the data source and specific cities compared. Connecticut is generally 20.1% to 27.9% more expensive than Texas, with housing and childcare being the primary drivers of this difference.

California is 21.8% to 30% more expensive than Florida overall, driven primarily by significantly higher housing costs which are 16% to 18.9% higher in California. Texas is significantly more affordable than California, with overall cost of living indices averaging 91.5–93.9 compared to California's 140–150, making Texas roughly 40–50% cheaper to live in.

So let's be real what you mean when you say that the people who live in blue states are carrying the nation. That means they are living on less and doling out 2/3 of their tax dollars to people like yourself who no longer live in the state and are using their hard earned money to be paying for your hookers.

You can call those living in blue states patriots; I prefer the word suckers to describe them.

What is amazing that you keep claiming all the bad things Trump is doing but the majority of Americans voted Trump in because they knew that he couldn't and wouldn't be as bad as Biden was. And they knew Harris would be worse than Biden trainwreck. Regardless of what Trump does he is still better than Biden. Those are the facts and Americans were smart enough to vote for it. As for Canada we survived the Trudeau train wreck and Carney will probably be as bad. We are screwed. Thank your lucky stars you have Trump and not a Carney. Most of the people that hate Trump hate the USA also. Liberal news in USA is cheering for Iran. Hoping Trump plan fails. Iranians love what Trump is doing. He is their only hope for freedom.

Please show a little initiative instead of always expecting me to spoon feed you. Look up Simpson's Paradox and you'll see it's a phenomenon in probability and statistics in which a trend appears in several groups of data but disappears or reverses when the groups are combined. And it's very relevant to the matter at hand.

If you combine all the people in all the states and counties and cities, you see that historically, before Trump, Republicans paid a lot more of the federal income tax than Democrats did. Republicans have historically subsidized Democrats. And yeah you may have 7 Democrat deadbeats in New Jersey for every three hardworking Republicans who paid a lot of federal tax. That doesn't change the fact that the Democrats were screwing the Republicans, based on your logic after considering Simpson's Paradox. Actually, what I truly believe is that everyone is getting screwed, Democrat and Republican alike, by a wasteful, inefficient federal government.

Yep. Biden-Harris handed him a dramatically declined CPI Inflation Rate down from the peak due to Trump's Pandemic to a more manageable 2. 9% at the end of 2024. But from that moment on Trump has been determined to drive it right back up to and beyond what his disastrous economic and national security policy decisions produced in his first term. Again, after inheriting historically positive economic results and trajectories from Obama-Biden in 2017. As GW Bush did from Clinton-Gore in 2001, Reagan-Bush did from Carter-Mondale in 1981, Nixon-Agnew did from Johnson-Humpfrey in 1969 and on and on all the way back to the beginning of the Republican MAGA Party.[/QUOTE]Not that Trump owes anything to those MAGA suckers for squeaking out that razor-thin election win in 2024 anyway. He knows full well the sole reason for that happening was that relatively tiny handful of angry Muslims in the only three swing states that mattered that Netanyahu stirred up to vote against anyone from the Biden Administration by his crafty timing of not honoring thr May 2024 Biden-negotiated ceasefire agreement until after the election.

America shedding its blood, lives and money for Trump's Iran War of choice is his payback to Netanyahu and Muslims from a few Gulf States that might benefit from it. He knows there is no need to payback USA steel or other USA manufacturing suckers he conned into supporting him for anything having to do with him squeaking out that razor-thin election win.

From ChatGPT, here's South Australia's total energy consumption by source. I believe SA's share of consumption from renewables should be higher than other states based on what I recall you posting, but could be wrong. These numbers are adjusted for Victoria interconnects.

Liquid petroleum products 42% to 45%
    Natural Gas 30% to 34%
Renewables (wind, solar, bioenergy) 14% to 18%
    Coal 3% to 6%
    Other 3% to 5%

So in the USA, higher natural gas prices and the policy shift by the MAGA Fuhrer and his shit-show administration, which included issuing orders to keep open coal-fired plants slated for closure, led to the country posting an 8% to 13% increase in demand in 2025 and the largest absolute gains and approximately 37 million tons, leading to a 2.4% increase in carbon emissions in the United States.
Did Trump really issue orders to companies to keep coal fired power plants open? I doubt it.

According to ChatGPT, more of the increase in coal consumption was caused by higher natural gas prices than MAGA Fuhrer shit-show policies. The average price of natural gas (Henry Hub) was $2.41/MMBTU in 2024 and $3.62 in 2025. That's a 50% increase.

Something similar happened in 2021 during the Biden administration. The price of natural gas shot up from an average of $2.13 per MMBTU in 2020 to $3.72 in 2021, resulting in an increase from 477 million short tons annual coal consumption to 546 million tons. And you can't blame the increase mostly on the rebound from COVID. According to ChatGPT, electricity demand in 2021 rose 3% to 4%, while coal consumption rose 14.4%.

The Energy Information Administration projects coal consumption will fall from 452 million tons in 2025 to 417 million tons in 2026.

As to the increase in carbon emissions, blame data centers. Coal is a reliable, 24 hour a day power source, which is what data centers want.

Btw, coal consumption during the first Trump Administration went down. Here's production in short tons, from the EIA,

    2017 717 million tons
    2018 687 million tons
    2019 587 million tons
    2020 477 million tons

Consumption was down by a whopping 100 million tons per year in each of 2019 and 2020. Should we give Trump all the credit for 2020? Well, by Tooms logic, we sure should. He blames the COVID recession, huge COVID deficits, and COVID deaths on Trump. If you do that you have to give him credit for the coal too!

To some extent though I share your concerns. The way to address them IMHO is through a reasonable carbon tax, designed not to affect exports. Use the proceeds to reduce the deficit or the income tax. And perhaps an equivalent tax on particulates and SO2, that would be a function of the population density in the vicinity of the power plant. That would sure beat Biden's huge corporate welfare or Obama's mandates to promote renewables, which waste taxpayer money and make markets less efficient.

We agree that the Chinese are no dummies. And they're installing new coal fired capacity. That should tell us something. The USA is not only the Saudi Arabia of natural gas, it's also the Saudi Arabia of coal.

Yeah, how about that, just checkout China's smart (5 G technology) green, electrotech coal mining operations. EV mining trucks, autonomously hauling coal, to be used as electricity to power China and themselves, while saving millions in diesel fossil fuel, operation costs.

Chinese driverless, autonomous electric mining trucks ...the U.S. not so much!
You realize those big electric trucks involved in mining operations are mostly used to extract dirty, dirty coal? I wonder how much of the electricity used to charge those trucks comes from coal? I don't know the answer to the second question.

At most an employer kicked in 6.75% or so of income they could have paid me but paid into FICA instead while I was delivering far more value to them than I was getting back in compensation.

Similar to Blue states like California relative to America in general and Red states in particular.

But, yeah, in a sense you are absolutely right that Blue states are now and will in the future be paying you and other deadbeat Repub MAGAs in Red states a disproportionately high percentage of any Social Security income and Medicare reimbursement you Repub MAGA Red staters need and enjoy in your retirement years.

To continue an ongoing theme over the past several decades, we American tax-payers from Blue states like California offer a very heartfelt "You're welcome" to Aunt Bea, Jethro, Granny, Gomer, Goober, Barney Fife, Uncle Jed, Tony, you and Ellie-Mae, whose butt was too big for me to be interested in fucking her, 3-4 kilos bigger than the butts of the sweet young Asian girls I prefer to fuck and get royally blown by for my well-earned retirement income money.

There was no other reason for America to go to war- for the Uranium? The one they "obliterated" last year? Or the one that they were in active negotiations on with Iran? But wait, that's not the reason that he morphed into: it was regime change. But wait, it wasn't even that. It was liberating the Iranian people. In life when people throw out reasons like darts, the fact usually is that all of them are bullshit reasons and excuses. In life if you have a purpose for doing something, it's clear and lucid and doesn't need multiple other supposed reasons. And a cassus bellus needs to be just that.

Don't BS me with your "he's rational". That's crap as hell. He is capricious, naive beyond hell, has little ability to see beyond his nose let alone 2 steps ahead, and got roped into this by the Israelis who saw an opportunity to rid themselves of their biggest adversary in the region using America as their tool as they always do.
