Not going to happen. The club owners in Lleras are some of the most powerful people in Colombia, it's all window dressing.

One of my biggest hang ups about Colombia used to be the condiments. Every time I visited, the thing that bothered me most was that despite the wonderful food, I couldn't find the right flavors to go with it. The salad dressings and steak sauces tasted different, and they'd often offer honey instead of syrup. When you're accustomed to a specific taste, that's what you want.

​I vowed that for any extended stay, I'd ship everything to my home here in advance. I didn't want to be in this beautiful country with an excellent steak but no A1 sauceespecially since American brands are priced astronomically here. Having those familiar comforts makes the stay so much better. I love southern food and I love to cook, so I enjoy making meals for the people I'm with and sharing those authentic American flavors. By shipping my favorite products months ahead of time, I skip the store hunt entirely. Since the eggs, meat, and poultry are so affordable here, I can make hot wings, steaks, or pasta that taste exactly like home, all while enjoying life in one of the most beautiful places in the world."

Everyone has their non-negotiables. While some are comfortable boiling water for a bathnoting that much of the world lives this wayI have never been one of them. As a middle-aged man, I have no desire to bathe with a warm pot when I can install a showerhead for on-demand hot water. Similarly, while others can go months without specific foods or comforts, those details are essential for me. To stay away for six to eight months, I need to feel like I'm truly at home! Is it too much to have A1 Syrup Hoecakes &A ton of eggs daily for breakfast? PN.

When I go back to the states I bring an extra empty suitcase with me and load up on condiments etc. I've been in Colombia for over a year straight now but no way am I going to go without my southwest hot mustard etc. So I ship it in. I don't go without my favorite things whether it be spices, condiments or certain clothing items, I just order it online and ship it here, cost be damned. A lot of products in stores here not just food items are junk quality or "seconds" so if it is something that I want of quality I order it from the states and have it shipped. I have a box coming right now with eight items in it.

Honey is natural, most syrup is composed of high fructose corn syrup, artificial coloring, and artificial preservatives. You are complaining?

I remember some time in early 2000's a colleague of mine and I traveled to Japan together for a work meeting. It was his first time. At the airport he was trying to buy a sim card, and so he was very frustrated that the personnel working there did not speak good English.

Someone said he brings small containers of home brought ketchup, bbq bbq sauce and hot sauces like sriracha and tobasco in a fanny pack to the modest sit down restaurants. This turns a bandeja paisa plate into a gourmet meal.

This got a LOL from me. You know when Americans group Latinas together it is often a mistake. When heading for Mexican or Asian fare, I cannot even comment to my gal on how spicy a food is. What is a one or two for me in spiciness will have her face turning red.

You make a good point. It may be the lack of spices that makes so much of Colombian cuisine so lame.

When I first started traveling to Colombia, I decided on a major rule: I won't downgrade my lifestyle just to be with a woman. Regardless of how fun she is or how good the chemistry is, I have standards. If she doesn't have a bed, I'm not sleeping on the floor. If there's no hot water, I'll find a way to get it or we'll go our separate ways. It's simple. I'm honestly amazed at how much people will tolerate just to satisfy a sexual desire. I do not tolerate shit. If I am with a chick and will be staying at her place, then I make it comfortable for me. Thing is that it seems many guys think our comfort is their comfort, which it is not. That is an ethnocentric way of thinking.

The same girlfriend in Cali, when it was Christmas time I went to Brandsmart and bought a bunch of kitchen gadgets for $10 each. Electric can opener, hand mixer, and shit like that. Stuff that we see as making our lives easier. She never used any of that stuff. Her bed was literally a box spring with plywood on top. I had to sleep on top of pillows and folded up blankets trying to make it softer while she slept like a baby on that hard ass shit. She would not let me buy a mattress because she liked her bed that way.

I have bought several beds for girlfriends whose bed I did not find comfortable. My main girlfriend in Brazil, in addition to a new bed, I bought a fan for every room in the house, because carrying one fan from room to room does not work for me. I saw the tires on her car were bad so I insisted we immediately go buy a set. She would always want to use my phone to take pictures so one day I asked why she does not use her own phone to take pictures. She said it was really old and did not take good pictures. I saw it was an old ass IPhone, probably the one after the original. We immediately went to the store and I bought her a Samsung A55, which was the best they had to offer in the country part of Brazil. I spend money on girlfriends when I see they need something or when it will make me more comfortable. I do not spend money when chicks are telling me buy me this or that.

I have a nice young lady willing to travel from afar in Colombia to come to Medellin. I made it perfectly clear that I can only pay $100 for full day. I disagree as well. Whenever I shower with a chick from a place where hot water is this supposed "luxury", they say the water is too hot and want it to be cold. Same thing with drinks. In a lot if countries they do not fancy putting ice in drinks, so if you give them a drink with ice (how we like it where I come from) they will refuse it. It is their culture to take showers with cold water. They are not seeing the foreign way as a luxury they want. Case in point, when I had a girlfriend in Cali I could not stand the cold showers, so I had a heated shower head put in. The only use it ever got was when I was there using it.

According to my mathematical equation. You went from $50 2 to 4 hours to $110-$135 2 hrs. Man which one is it. You are under oath LOL. Now I am trying to get a girl to stay the full day for $100. She has gone as low as 600 k. Which I am still not willing to pay. Actually I am testing if she wants to fuck me slightly or very badly. Blakman you must not be reading my posts correctly, on March 8, 2026 I posted this: During my recent trip, I had an unexpected encounter with a contact from years ago. In the past, our arrangements typically ranged between 50,000 and 150,000 COP. However, she was quick to inform me that her professional standing had evolved; her current rates now start at 350,000 and can reach 600,000 COP.

​Curiosity and a bit of nostalgia led me to agree to the new terms. We settled on a total of 400,000 COP for the evening.
