Posts: 4Is there a street scene?
Is there a street scene in Barranquilla? I searched the forum but couldn't find anything. Casas / spas are okay, but I kinda prefer picking working girls up off of the street. I don't mind a rougher side of town or Centro, etc. I speak a pretty decent conversational level of Spanish (between B1 and B2) and have been studying for 3 years. I've been to a bunch of places already in North / South America as well as Asia. Maybe I prefer the street scene because I enjoy the negotiation LOL.

Posts: 47Day trip to Barranquilla from Medellin-
Into the casa / spa vibe vs strip clubs. Is a day trip worth it. Quality of the girls, service and price?

Posts: 2926According to Airbnb policy, hosts are not permitted to collect any fees related to reservations outside of their platform, unless they authorize it. Extra guest fees must be clearly stated before booking. So, if the doorman is taxing you for every guest after the first one and collecting it himself off platform, it may not be in line with the policy. You may want to ask the Airbnb help center. Otherwise, you can try tipping the doorman to not notice any guests after the first one. LOL!

Posts: 18757If you ever want to stay at an airbnb by these Caribbean Side mfs then don't. Doorman just told me that I have to pay an additional 80,000 pesos for every guest after the first one. They rent places here and Cartagena, and they are bringing that Cartagena bullshit here. Been coming here 21 years and no hotel or airbnb has tried to pull that shit before. Hell, I even stayed in this exact same apartment 2 years ago and it was not like that.

Posts: 478Most four star and above business hotels and newer Airbnbs have reliable hot water, many three star mid range hotels have lukewarm hot water, budget hotels have only room temperature hot water. Since Barranquilla has a hot tropical climate most year around, it's considered as essential as in Medellin, Bogota.

Posts: 478I spent most of my time at Bloom, Kraby Spa, El Oyito, Mariangel Spa, Casa del Prada, Perfect Time, and Zero Stress. Bloom was my favorite, I went there almost every day and even spent nearly six hours there one day trying 4 girls out of six that looked good that day.

Posts: 290So many to choose from. Anyone got a top 5 list? I will go either by end of year or in January for 4 nights.

Posts: 4496There are more units with no hot water in the warmer regions of the Pacific coast. I got caught out once in Monteria. Luckily it was just an overnight trip so I learned a cheap lesson. I always verify now.

Posts: 176Whenever I am in Bogota, I stay in a very nice apartment in a very nice part of town. However, it is an old building, so for hot water they have one of those electric heaters attached to shower head, which fucking suck. They only heat the water well if you run a trickle of water through them. Unfortunately, many hotels and older AirBnB use these too.

In my experience, with hotels in Bogota and Medellin it's usually a flip of the coin as to whether they will have good hot water or barely hot water. (But you can look for this info about the particular hotel beforehand.) In Cartagena, most of the hotels I have stayed at only have cold water, but it doesn't matter because the weather is hot as balls. Sounds like a similar situation for Barranquilla.

Posts: 1005They have a big water tank on the roof. It heats up during the day in the sun so showers between 3-5 pm can be very hot. But in the mornings will be deathly cold with the tanks in the cold night air all night long. I think only the high end hotels / apartments will have hot water.

I rented an orchard casa with a huge pool and there was no hot water. I've never run into that anywhere else in Latin America but I've had it happen twice in Col0mbia.
I took very short showers.

Posts: 18757I have never stayed at a place in Barranquilla that does not allow guest. That is more of a Medellin / Cartagena thing where there is a high volume of single guys bringing in hookers. Sometimes the host may want you to send a copy of the guest's ID ahead of time though. But even when I have not done that there has been no problem. If there is a front desk then they will request it as well.

Posts: 18757Many airbnbs that I have stayed in in Barranquilla do not have hot water because the city is so hot. And half the places I stayed that have hot water (hotels included), the hot water does not work worth a damn. If you must have hot water then look under the "what this place offers" heading to see if they have it. I always get a place with a washing machine (and hopefully dryer) as well.
