Hotels with mirrors and tall bed

    Fellow men of culture.

Can anyone kindly share hotels that have mirrors and tall beds around nana area. Its a weird preference of mine. LOL.

    2 Hotel Review

    Not your regular hotel reviews.

First, the Hilton on Soi Asoke. A 5 minute stroll to Soi Cowboy. Previously named the Millenium and Pullman. At the time, totally guest friendly, without any "transfer" or "joiner" fee. No idea about today. Comfortable bed, especially if shared by a damsel rescued from Lollipop in NEP. Though looking younger, this GF for the night was 28 years old. Began working in Nana at age 19; got knocked up and returned to her Issan village to have her son. Had just returned to BKK to resume her participation in the world's oldest profession.

Second, is at Nana Hotel, Soi 4. 3* Vietnam War era and perfectly located directly across from the NEP and surrounded by almost all mongering options. These days about the only thing good about it is location, price and being totally guest friendly. In fact, you might get a weird look if you don't come back at night with the girl of your dreams. In it's hay day, there was hardly a table in the large restaurant at breakfast time that didn't have a punter with his previous night's conquest. Apparently, my "conquest" thought we were going swimming. She found out later that she wouldn't need her Shark Bar-issued swimsuit for what was on my agenda. She was 19 years old; a former golf caddy who entered the profession at Clinton Plaza. Like many of the women there (and, notably, The Doll House) she migrated to Soi Cowboy.

Always book double occupancy. Saving a few dollars or euros isn't going to ruin your vacay but it would ruin your night if you find that guest you want to bring up to your room and the hotel says no guest or tries to get you to pay extra 1000 tbh.

However, a reservation for two isn't always possible: sometimes the room rate doubles, rendering any attempt to save money pointless. Even worse, choosing hotels that don't allow "temporary" guests under any circumstances.

When I book a hotel, I always check the price difference between single occupancy and double occupancy. If there is no difference, or if it is negligible, I will book double occupancy.
For the Dynasty Inn there is no price difference.

Breakfast is usually the cause of the price difference between single occupancy and double occupancy. Since I rarely have a lady accompanying me at breakfast (because I hardly ever do long time anymore), I don't want to pay for it.
Thanks too to PGREAL. I'd heard about this before, and I don't mind. But I'm also considering other places. For example, the Promenade Hotel. I noticed that you also set it to two guests during the booking process, just to be safe. So I won't risk it with just one occupancy.

Dynasty inn reservation for 1 occupancy? Or 2 occupancy?

Thanks much to Khun Real for his informative and helpful review.

I had never heard of the place, but I do like the serviced apartment concept. Plenty of room to stretch out. Separate bedroom. Kitchen for snacks and a washer.

Will definitely consider this place for my next visit to Bangkok.

Review of 6th Avenue Holiday Apartments. Soi 15

    Hi,

I have to give a shout out and big thumbs up to this place. You find them on Booking, Agoda etc there are usually a few available as far as I can see from private hosts. I paid €75 per day for a 1-bed apartment but there are studio style apartments available at the moment for only just over €50 per night (this time of year at least). The pictures of the small ones look fine.

My apartment was 50 sq m so not huge but fine for a short stay and in addition it had a huge balcony overlooking the street spanning the lounge and bedroom area.

Modern and well equipped for a short stay, washing machine, hob, microwave and large fridge with ice-box. Ok sofa area, kitchen table (3-4 seater) which was grand if you have to work on a laptop a lot like me. Two big TV's and the bed was comfortable, extra pillows etc, good wardrobe space.

Small en-suite bathroom but shower is walk-in and plenty of room for two. Wash pressure was ok, but could be a bit better, you also had to let the shower run for 3-4 minutes first to get hot water but once it was hot it didn't run out.

Check in is a breeze (the best I've seen in these type of places). You email them a picture of your passport in advance. On arrival there is a small little office right at the lobby entrance. They guy was expecting me (the block is small so don't have a lot of arrivals / departures), he literally handed me a sheet of paper to sign, that was it. He handed me the key, showed me to the apartment door (without saying a word), opened the door and that was it, never even looked for a tip.

So during my stay, there is one or two guys in that office during the day but they are working, they never even lift their heads or acknowledge you (unless you need them). So in other words they mind their own business and leave you alone. At night the office is unmanned. So from the point of view of bringing in girls, zero problem. Also as it's a small block I hardly met anyone else in the corridors and never waited long for the lift.

It's an 8 story (including roof block) but the lobby is on the 2nd floor and the 8th is a nice roof top pool and small Gym (modern treadmills and bikes etc), so there is really only 4-5 floors of apartments and I think there is only 4 or maybe 5 per floor.

The pool and gym are free to use for short stay guests as well which was great as most apartments only allow it if you are staying longer.

There is a carpark with free parking and also EV charging points, if you have rented a car.

There is vending machines outside and a restaurant with a bar and pool table.

The best thing by far however is the location. You are at the Sukhumvit Road end of the Soi. Paradox Hotel is next door and the Manhatten Hotel is opposite across the street. O'Leary's Irish bar is next door as well. You have a 7-eleven a bit further up the Soi as is the Night Hotel. A couple of doors down was "Louie's" restaurant, I ate one night, absolutely fine.

The Irish bar was pretty crap but there was another small bar across the street with a couple of girls, pool tables etc. Good for the football.

You are about 2 minute walk to Thermae, past a couple of currency exchanges and ATM's on the way. The other direction you have Tom's 24 hour coffee shop and McDonalds, Terminal 21, Coal's, Boots etc within 5 minutes walk.

You can easily walk to both Nana and Soi Cowboy but the Asoke and Nana BTS stations are super close.

If you read the reviews, some say it's noisy, with the street noise. Honestly it did not bother me and it's not as if you are on the main Sukhumvit Road. I mean as well, come on, you are in a big buzzing city, if you don't like any noise, choose another destination! Also the apartments themselves are sound proofed. I heard absolutely nothing from the neighbors during my time there.

I usually do hotels, so it was a nice change. Oh one final thing, they said cleaning is done every 5 days and there would be a charge if you wanted it more often. However they offered to clean for free on day 3, which was a nice touch. They came exactly when they said they would, changed the sheets, new towels etc. So that was nice.

I've stayed for example in the Pinnacle (Hyde) in Soi 11 which is a much bigger block and hands down given the choice, I'd pick 6th Avenue again ahead of it.

The Cmdr reviews the Ruamchitt Hotel

Something crazy was going on in Bangkok. Four hotels that I am familiar with were booked. Finally I got a room at the Ruamchitt

    Agreed. Just stayed there.

    Positives

Attentive staff. Nice rooms. Comfortable bed. Water pressure strong. Internet OK. Great Location. Allowed early check in. Add sitting area and a fan and it would be perfect.

    Negatives

Only negative I can point out is BTS noise. Constant but easy to get used to. The hotel provides ear plugs in the room or bring your own.

    "Old school" monger hotel

This time I'm thinking of the Manhattan or Ruamchitt. Which of these has more "old school" charm and vibes? I should say bed comfort and sleep are also somewhat important!

I really want to try the Nana Hotel, but thet only seem to have smoking rooms available.

    Anywhere else to consider?
You may wish to consider Majestic Suites. Small rooms but cheap, and excellent location. Miami hotel renovated a few years ago, as did Ruamchitt (we used to call it Room Sh*it Plaza LOL). I stayed at the Nana Hotel for a couple nights last month (for the nostalgia), and was disappointed they moved the breakfast buffet, when it was on the ground floor it was great fun to observe punters with their companions over runny eggs. I first stayed in these places in 2003, although they're not as much fun today IMHO.

JW Marriot for seven. Just too dam expensive to justify probably won't do again but I've earnt a few free night to use in the future.

They didn't blink an eyelid when I roll up at 4 am with 3 girls in a tuk tuk. Also find the internal food option too pricey to justify.

There is a great little sports bar on the same block with good food options.

Adelphi on SOI 8 for 10 days in the Premier Suite. Could live in this to be honest.

Like the washing machine and kitchen not that I used the later too much.

Will only stay here in future. Monsoon restaurant downstairs in great as is the sister venue Viva down the road is also awesome. There is a all night food option down the ally from Viva. Fantastic.

Its just such a great location. Escalator over to Soi 11 and easy work to Soi4 down the back lane and not that far from Soi Cowboy.

Yes there is building work behind but they are still working on foundation. My average go to sleep time was 6 am and overall wasn't too bothered by the noise. It is there though.
Adelphi has always been my go to hotel, but back in February they weren't offering the suites at the rear of the property because of construction noise. That appears to have changed, but I don't know how bad the noise will be.

When I enquired at the beginning of the year they said the building work would go into 2027, and considering how construction progresses elsewhere, I could well imagine 2028 might well be on the cards.
