Spent 3 nights in Phuket (patong) so far and its honesty been a bit disappointing. I agree with the sentiment that the islands become more of a family destination instead of a mongering hole.

My schtick is mostly hitting the girly bars, spending some time with the girls blowing some cash on lady drinks and taking one home. Some rapport and chemistry is important to me before getting to business. Patong (as far as I know) has 3 larger beer complexes sans bangla which I hunt at. OTOP, the ones down prachanukro road (google Dolphin bar) and a smaller one at the first intersection north of Bangla (google Tony Sports Bar). In the past few years my luck has been quite good at these (esp the former two) getting excellent repeat GFE sessions at pretty good prices. They almost always stayed overnight as well.

This time around however things have taken a dip. The girls are drink hungry and good pickings are super slim. Came back to the hotel alone first two nights. The third night picked up a 6/7 from a bar in OTOP (it's called Ozzy something) - she seemed a bit fun but my spidey sense let me down because she was very restrictive in bed. Did her for sometime but being too shy to give me a CBJ was enough of a downer that I couldn't blow my load. 1 k BF and 2 k for the girl..

Phuket has always been more of a family destination than a mongering centre, all Thai island destinations are that.

But, Phuket is way more than Patong, as Patong is more akin to Pattaya and Sukhumvit, where the drink crazy mantra is taking over everywhere.

Especially as it is turning into a very poor low season already.

You mentioned a 1 k bar fine at OTOP. WTF!

Clearly Patong and it's bars are best avoided if you are a lower spend punter, except for maybe a single night visit in.

Thankfully there are lots of options outside Patong, Rawai, Kata, Karon, Kamala.

Next morning I headed to the beach and omw back I stopped at a massage down Sawatidark road. I get at least one massage a day but hardly ever opt in for any extras as its not my thing. Turned out to be a solid decision because it was an excellent session. Stellar BBBJ, full on GFE and had a tight kitty (I'm a small dude and junior follows suit so that's saying something). Looks would be a 6 but 10/10 service would repeat. I do not recall the name of the place but will report back later today.

One more night to go here in patong but so far I don't think Ill be back here again for mongering. That said, if boom boom massages and soapies are your thing, patongs still pretty great. The selection is numerous and there's a metric tonne of stunners that I saw.

Here in Patong for a few days. First two nights (July 10 & 11) there appeared to be a total shutdown of bar fining on Bangla Road. At first I thought it was just an escalation of the fleecing at Suzy Wong's. But I checked at several other gogo and beer bars and got the same response. The police are down from Bangkok watching. The girls at Suzy Wong's were forced to add skirts to their outfits and no nudity.

Ended up getting a table at Iluzion and working the FLs there. Some Thai Friendly, Massage Republic and Christin's massage to compensate.

Not sure how long this will keep up. If anyone else is here and want to grab a club table, hit me up.

I will be in Phuket July 8-11 and was looking for recommendations for a dive shop that's more boutique and not a giant boat. The reviews systems look to be heavily astroturfed so I would appreciate if anyone has a personal recommendation. I haven't dived in a long time so I don't want to just jump on a boat with 30 other people. I will be staying in the rawai area haven't booked a hotel yet since there seems to be so many options.

At this time of year, low season, pretty much the only options available are bigger, giant? Boats.

As the smaller boats can't get out safely to the dive sites.

But they are generally only 30-50% full, which is 20-40 people.

Also, small boats owned by dive centers is not the model of most diving in Phuket, unless you're willing to pay larger $'s for private charters.

I will admit upfront that I own a small boutique dive center in Phuket with my Thai wife, and would be very happy to help you with any questions about diving here.

I'm not surprised about Kimono massage as from their photos with their girls dressed in kimonos, it looks too much like just a Japanese version of traditional massage shops for general tourists.

Consider the kimono dressed photos as purely advertising.

I've never seen the girls working there dressed in them.

As to it being for general tourists, definitely not.

It's definitely for sexual services, but, on my visits there I've always had trouble getting any pussy access there, be it even fingers, with tongue and cock fully rejected.

I don't know of any hotels in Rawai at all that charge joiner fees.

Nuru shops in Phuket often leave people who have experienced them in Bangkok disappointed.

The Phuket shops do not include FS in their pricing, it is merely nuru massage, handjob, blowjob, sometimes no pussy touching at all.

Some notes for both ZipHead and Exotic.

The diving on a two dive day trip is excellent, but not the best possible, most of the Similans dive sites are least busy and at their best start of day and late afternoon / twilight, and that is only possible from the liveaboard boats. As to occupancy of cabins, yes, a single cabin is expensive, pretty much twice the rate, but I don't recall the request asking for a private solo cabin, so if sharing is OK, then all the short stay liveaboards are only dual occupancy, so not such an issue. As to cost, the comparative liveaboard cost per day staying overnight is highly competitive with a day trip cost plus accommodation plus meals, and it gives 3-4 dives a day being possible rather than just 2 dives, with those extra dives being at the best times of day, and without day boat divers being around.

As to Khao Lak mongering opportunities, everything is available there, in smaller numbers, massage, bar and FL, but don't expect it to be top shelf quality if that's what you want.

The challenge for you is that the mongers with good game will find the better options quicker than you do, and so it's quite possible you will find nothing you want in high season.

That is why Phuket is such a better option for your mongering, and as the base to travel to Khao Lak for your punting.

Lastly to diving in Phuket, at peak times the big boats, which the industry is based on, get fuller, busier, add that to diving with the big companies that put you in a dive group with others, strangers, less experienced than you, air hogs even, and your dives can be quite less than optimal, even at times not enjoyable at all. The diving around Phuket is great, not quite Similans, but it has sites to dive that the Similans doesn't offer, KingCruiser deep wreck, Koh Doc Mai wall dive, Koh Bida Nok blacktip sharks, Turtle Rock, aka turtles, Koh Racha Yai bay of wrecks. To enjoy these sites properly, dive one on one, just you and a fully competent experienced and committed dive guide, not just some disinterested freelancer working for a big company, or many of them, day in day out. We own our boutique dive business, myself and my wife are the only dive guides, or course instructors, we focus solely on one on one, or small known to each other groups. And there are many other small dive businesses in Phuket just like ours if you seek them out based on value, not lowest price.

Just some thoughts. I would highly recommend diving the Similans out of Khao Lak. You can do day trips from that area that are excellent. I took high speed boats three days in a row and the diving out there was world class. The liveaboards can be ok but realize if you are a solo traveler you will pay nearly DOUBLE the price the liveaboards are advertising, as most of them offer a price based on double occupancy of your cabin. Very expensive! And although Khao Lak is much quieter and laid back than Patong, there are still ladies available at the many massage shops there. I didn't see any bar girls or freelancers.

The diving near Phuket is ok, not fabulous, and the dive boats in high season are literally packed to the gills with as many as 60-70 divers every day. A zoo! Not much fun..
