One person is not going to affect the market. There are millions of market participants. Each transaction is done privately. It is impossible for any of us to know exactly what has been paid during these transactions. The closest thing to compare it to is the OTC market in securities where there is a Bid and a Ask price. If one single person decides to put in a market order that is above the Bid price, that order is executed immediately. But does not change the spread in anyway unless there is huge volume for purchases at that level.

A taxi in New York from JFK to White Plains is $200. It is the same distance as a taxi from Bangkok airport to Pattaya, which costs $30. If the taxi driver in Bangkok tells you he will take you to Pattaya for $100, you would go hmmm, I am used to paying $200 for that distance, so half the price in a much newer car is a bargain?
