Cali was maybe my 4th quake, so I knew the magnitude before they called it. Yeah, the 17th floor won't be where I will be ever in a developing country! You guys may be traumatized. PTSD is real. Even my 5 year old building got some cosmetic damage, and my heart goes out to those that suffered loss of home and life. Its tragic to see entire complexes roped off from people getting their shit. I gave some money to some people that were buying staples and feeding locals. I hope you all here did the same.
But yes, the dollar went from a high of 5000 cop /$1 to 3200+ after bouncing of a 2900 bottom! That and the "UNWELCOME" mat at the door is very telling. Thailand here I come (back)!

Posts: 2655I was in my 17th floor apartment cooking breakfast here in Manizales. I've never been so fucking scared in all of my 69 years.

Posts: 1464Earthquake, crashing dollar, rising peso, and a tough talking new prez, the party may be over, or at least on hold. It will take many, many years to recover here. I'm scaling back operations.

Posts: 51If I like Cali and decide to drowns time there, I will definitely figure it out. There's a science to everything. Just like you said, you have to be there to understand it. This trip will be about knowing the areas where I might possibly want to stay and live. I might even fly in one of my regulars from medellin. My Spanish is decent but sometimes I prefer to have someone fluent depending on what I'm doing.

Posts: 1464The Cali Tinder secret is stay away from 25 and older cause they are looking for providers to clean up their lives. Actually younger are too but are not so desperate. Since about 2020 many more tranny and fatties taking up space there too. Cali Tinder is full of expensive want to-be-IG models with elevated prices: pics in the gym, standing next to Eiffel tower, Gucci bags, etc. Once your here long enough you get it figured out but you have to be here. Prolly not worth the time.

Posts: 51Ok thanks. I figured as much. I'm mainly going to see the city. I know I'm not going to retire in medellin so I'm looking at other places now. Pereira will be next to cost after I get the lay of the land.

Posts: 147Cali is not really like Medellin at all. So if that's the experience you want you might be disappointed. Even with online it's not really the same. I might be wrong on this but I don't believe there's a huge facebook scene. Tinder will probably be your best bet for online. There definitely are working girls but there seems to be more civilians (non working) on there. Happy hunting.

Posts: 652Try El Centro, there are some cheap hookers on the corners. Also some trannies. Be careful. You lose some safety when you go to the ghettos.

Ok. I went to Cali in November and it wasn't really a good trip. I lost a bet and had to take a chic to Colombia. We did Cali but had problems with lodging there for to the apartment being sold and never taken off the listing. Stayed 3 days and went to medellin where I mainly go. This trip I will be alone and I'll be there for a week. I'm looking to stay in el penon or granada. I've researched here but I just want to get the most current info because things curable a lot in Colombia. Been there over 60 x and things are definitely different now. I don't really care for casas. I will do them but I prefer networking online. That's the best way in medellin and I'm not talking about tinder. I use Facebook and it works wonders. I'm also not going to pay usa prices like some of these noobs do. So based on that, what are my options since I know Facebook isn't the way to do things in Cali. Also, if I have them in my place which hotels do you suggest that's guest friendly. Google gave me a listing of supposedly guest friendly hotels but. Thanks in advance.

In general it's always best to smash in a Casa in Colombia. All of the druggings you hear of happen when a monger insists on bringing her back to the Hotel.
Granted I always get home delivery but I live here.
Hope this helps.
Trip.
