Weed actually has been Re-criminalized. You can no longer buy it other than super low dose THC which won't get you high.

The only way to obtain legally now is with a medical permit. I plan to apply online for the permit before I arrive. The penalty now for being caught with weed with out medical permit is severe.

I see signs on some of the weed shops around Bangkok that someone in the shop will give you that medical permission, prescription or whatever it takes to buy it. I don't partake so I have no first-hand experience with how that works.

I know when it became possible to advertise it, buy it and smoke or ingest it, you were still not allowed to partake of it "in a public place", similar to the deal with solicitation of Prostitution.

Prediction regarding the topic that prompted this exchange: if Thailand ever does decide to finally address Prostitution between consenting adults specifically in the law, the term they will use is to "legalize" it and not to "de-criminalize" it. Because it is not now nor has it ever been in modern history a crime to engage in it in Thailand.

I am being told that Driving While Black is not addressed by the law in Thailand as being specifically legal. I understand why. Because Thailand operates under a: Statutory Civil Law System.

Cmdr WTF is that? I asked myself the same question. So I had to ask my assistant to look it up for me.

A statutory civil law system is a legal framework where the primary source of law is a comprehensive, written legal code enacted by the legislature, rather than judicial precedent.

Cmdr does that mean that if the action is not addressed specifically by the law that it is legal? Maybe. There is a difference between criminal liability and civil liability. An action may not be prosecuted under criminal law, but could still lead to civil liability for the action.
