Don't introduce American silly behaviors that a tip is a duty. A tip is a great compliment and a way of saying thank you. When it becomes mandatory, it somehow loses its value as honest feedback for the service staff.

If you are not satisfied, tip 0. If t was so so, then 50 k. If she was great and did things not on the regular menu then tip 100 k. If she did make you totally breathless and you want her to visit you for a LT in your hotel, perhaps 200 k will convince her.

My first trip to Jakarta is planned this month and I'm having a hard time deciding on where to stay. I've read up 50+ pages on this thread as well as the hotels thread. Basically I'm in my middle ages and find it often times more convenient to have in-room massages with FS with a hot young indo babe rather than going outside hunting which would drain me. Third time in the awful Jakarta, a horrendous city where beautiful young girls and extraordinary experiences awaited me, as always.

Hotel: I chose the Vertu Harmony. 5 stars. A long pool with perfectly cool water. Gym. Corner room almost bigger than my house. Top. The only problem was a slight noise from the street, even though it's on the top floor due to the cars on the streets below. I slept with earplugs, but I'm very sensitive to noise. The price is fair. Agoda 34 a night. THIRTY-FOUR. 5 stars with a huge room. Wow!

1. Jakarta is horrific: poverty, traffic, jacked up sidewalks, etc. I've been many times and love Jakarta.

BNM, good report, but I must say that you don't have to put up with this BS. I choose to spend my money where I my commerce is appreciated and I am treated like a valued customer. Yeah, Classic is cheap and it's packed with girls, but there is a limit to what am willing to put up with. It has been a long time since I was in Jakarta. I will be returning soon, and I am looking forward to my visit, but I will walk right out of Classic if I find that sexiest girls are not on the menu for me. I may end up spending more money somewhere else, but I will not care. I will not be put at the back of the bus.

Maybe they were asking an outrageous price and that's why the Japanese guys turned her down. White guys (such as myself) have a deserved reputation for trying to get a good deal. While Asians are more known to just spend without caring.

I don't know what would have happened later (perhaps same result, if the girl did indeed not mind going with you), but there was no need for you to get the mama first. While I agree with your sentiment, it is the unfortunate truth that being a foreigner does preclude you from being the first choice in many Asian countries.

Even in Japan, the best establishments and the hottest girls are reserved for Japanese men only.

Also, I prefer being rejected from the first contact itself rather than waste my time with a starfish in the room later. The only thing weird about this was that while I have heard about the girls refusing clients and have been rejected a couple of times myself, here it was the mama who outright refused.
