I spent about 2 months before my trip looking up phrases and responses for situations I thought I would find myself in and made a study notebook based on those. For the rest I relied on google translate. It worked out ok, and just about any effort will put you miles ahead of some of the travel bros and tourists who have done no prep. Also I cannot read or write Japanese so I relied on my phone for that as well. This was my 2nd time in Japan but I plan on putting more effort into my studies before my next trip.

As for my exploring, even some of the locals I talked to were surprised with how far out of the city I went. (especially when I told them I went to Choshi, Chiba) I made it a point not to hang out in the tourist areas too much or follow too many online guides. I was there for 2.5 weeks but still made too many plans and didn't cover it all, and felt I may have rushed through the things I did. If you do go out into the more rural areas though all the nice english signage starts to disappear and the trains run much less often so be careful of that.

Great info, someone else also had a good time at Sweater Moon too. Definitely, Manzoku loves Americans because they have to vouch for us and they know Americans are not cheap bums. If you can speak 1 or 2 years of Japanese it goes a long way. It means you love Japan and are not just some lookie loo tourist who doesn't care about Japan. Actually, I only warn about oppai pubs as far as not falling in love. Because then you will willingly give one girl all your money and that is bad. When I was young, I had such ideas too.

For what they offer, Sweater Moon is cheap and fun. Himari is high service, some girls are like that. I often set aside an extra hour or two when I go in case I want to extend with a girl. It's up to you, there's no wrong choice. Sweater Moon overall has a balance of Looks and Service. Whereas Hosekinobako leans Looks. Flamingo in Shibuya is Service over Looks.

Just look around each club - in Hosekinobako there are quite a number of stunners, classy girls dressed up entertaining men with words and foreplay. For my next night out I wanted to try out Shinjuku, I stayed In shinjuku at the godzilla hotel my last trip to Tokyo back in 2016 but that was before I had started any kind of hobbying in the states and spend most of my time there dodging touts as I would return to my hotel at night. But there where places I wanted to try this time.

Dispite TravelerX's warnings I really wanted to try an Oppai Pub experience, and the sweater theme really did it for me. This was a Sunday night around 7. So I started by going over to Manzoku, The man out front was a little leary of me but I asked in Japanese if I could get into Sweater Moon. He had me come in and asked where I was from. His moon improved when I told him America and he called up the club. A few minutes later the door man from Sweater Moon came over and escorted me to the shop.

When we got there he had me mouthwash, explained the rules, took my drink order and let me in. They brought me my drink and the first girl Emiri she was young and cute, blonde with a decent size rack, spoke pretty good English and was willing to put up with my Japanese. Yakiniku & Bunny, Ikebukuro.

So one of my goals on my trip was to go to some bunny girl establishment. I started looking at maid cafes but didn't find any that where specifically bunny girls. I found a hooka bar that was but I don't smoke so I didn't know if I would really enjoy it. Then I came across Yakiniku & Bunny its a Yakiniku restaurant where a bunny girl sits with you and cooks your food! What could be better!

There are a few of these restaurants and as it happens the Ikkebukuro one was about 2 blocks from my hotel. So of course I headed over for dinner one night. The system is 4,900 for 120 min and they swap out your bunny every hour. Drinks and food are extra, and you can buy your bunny a drink as well. (they were advertising a discount for first time visitors but I did not receive it.) They were advertising a new store opening in Shinjuku but I didn't happen to find it.

I asked the young man in front of the store If I could could come in, he was a little unsure since I was not Japanese but brought me in and handed me off the the older guy at the register. He was more confident in his English and explained the system and pricing to me to make sure I understood and I agreed to the price. I looked through the tablet menu for a bit, It had and English language option thankfully and my first bunny arrived.

She was tall, slender, had short blonde hair, unfortunately not as buxom as you may hope for a girl in a bunny costume but she was pretty none the less. I don't remember her name unfortunately. She wasn't confident in her English but it was honestly pretty good and she was very outgoing. She helped me go through the menu and I had here recommend some cuts of meat and sides to order. She liked traveling so we talked about that until the food arrived. She handled to cooking and we shared a the meal while continuing to chat.

After an hour the swapped out bunnies. My second girl was named Moe she was shorter had medium length black hair and filled out her bunny suit a bit better. However she was newer and her English wasn't as strong (this was also early in my trip so I was less confident in my Japanese than I was later) another problem is I was already mostly full from the meal with the first girl so I wasn't really wanting to order more food. It was a bit awkward at first but she noticed the games on my phone while I was using it to translate, so the conversation picked and we talked about games and anime that we liked. I ordered some light snacks and we chatted for the remainder of the hour.

Total cost was around 14,000 including the system cost 2 bunny drinks and the food and drinks I ordered. I had a pretty good time and would probably go again but this is more than I would spend on dinner and if you don't speak Japanese it may not be worth it if you can't talk to your girl for the most part. 2 hours seems to be the standard time, so pace yourself better than I did so your not just sitting around for the 2nd hour. I also think this would be more fun with a group. There are bunny games you can order to play with your girl, but I was too embarrassed to try any of them while eating there by myself. Other than that there is no touching or anything like a cabaret club, just a wholesome bunny girl restaurant.

Also while I had a good time with the girls who were with me, they definitely gave the top bunny girls to the other tables. There were some knockouts there, the cast list on their website is very large but I think stores close by each other may share girls.

Frankly, both of those places are on the low end. I am not surprised by your treatment at Sweet Kiss. I'm more surprised you were able to have a good time at Polaris. Though if it was your first time that makes more sense.

IMO, you would have been better served by spending 100,000 Yen and going to Kings Room in Yoshiwara. No Japanese required, and you would have had the real soapland experience with nuru PLUS multiple rounds of FS.

Honestly not going to a more premium place is one of my regrets. (Honestly cheaping out on things is a recurring problem of mine even when I can afford a better option) Always next time I guess. As far as Polaris goes it was my first soapland in Japan and I think it came more down to the girl. I seemed to click with her and just had a good time.

I have some more reports I'm working on but I didn't end up with multiple pops at any even though some advertised they were available but that I think had a lot to do with the weather and that I spent most days walking all over Tokyo before going out at night. The heat there really took out my energy. I came back from a tour and spent a half day in Yokohama but was just too wiped out to go to any places.

I probably wouldn't go back in summer if I can help it.
