When using a taxi at BKK you pull a ticket from a machine that gives you the space number where your taxi is parked. Just across the driveway from where you get into your taxi is a Grab stand. On my last trip to Pattaya from BKK, I checked the Grab price to Pattaya and it was about B250 cheaper. That's not always the case but I think it is worth checking the Grab price if you are planning to take a regular taxi there.

Posts: 1058Easy. They are the best, be sure to use email. It's always a good idea to book early as they are very popular. When high season comes around they have odd times when they don't have enough drivers.

So Grab is not best choice? ( I wrongly used ‘Curb’ that is another Uber like in US). I have used grab within city in the past. Found it reliable and reasonable. Did not use it for airport or long distance like Pattaya. 😇.

Posts: 18757There are hundreds of taxi people to use. Not much communication to be done Just send them your name, flight you are coming in on, time the flight is getting in, and where you are going. Then they will send you a message of which door to be at to look for your name on one of the name trees. You can just do it a couple of hours ahead of time.

Another option is AngieTaxiPattaya. Book online or using Line or WhatsApp. You give them your flight details, text them when you land and / or getting through baggage reclaim and they will have someone waiting with your name on a card at the meeting point on the arrivals level (if I remember the level correctly). Pay the driver in cash when you get dropped off. Book a few days in advance and they usually confirm within a couple of hours, depending on time zones. Text messages back and forth all good. They have never let me down.

As Sam says, from BKK use the public taxi. Outside ground floor is the taxi rank, get a ticket from the ATM like machine that has the parking slot number for your allocated taxi, go to that slot and the driver should be with the car. Again, as Sam says, insist on getting the meter switched on. Some drivers try to give a fixed price including tolls but it never works out cheaper. You have to pay a 50 Baht airport surcharge and the tolls on the expressway (two tolls, 70-80 Baht?

For a taxi from the city, or even around town, download Bolt or Grab and use one of them. It is the same as Uber. I usually use Bolt.

Posts: 34I know it isn't a GoGo, but I found a gal at Frog Bar on Walking Street back in February who told me the BF was 2000 (it was about 9), but after 11:00 the BF would go down to 1000.

Posts: 80How easy is it to arrange Nams either coming or going to / from Suvarnabhumi to / from Pattaya? How far should advance arrangements be made, and are they good with timely communications, etc. ?

Posts: 452I only use a taxi from the regular taxi cue. Works for me. Make sure the meter is used. Tell the driver to use the expressway; and you pay the toll.

Posts: 1058I recommend a taxi service for the convenience. I always use http://www.namstaxiladydrivers.com/ although there are others out there, the women drivers are careful and safer than others.
It's about 90 minutes fron the airport to your hotel, you don't have to mess around with stops and the final leg from the bus station to whereever you are going.
