As you have lived there and I have only visited, I will accept your claim. I will just add that I have met several GDPs who claimed that their families lived in the interior and they came to the city to work.

What I saw while visiting seemed to coincide with what American men have said about American small towns. The unmarried women leave. The go to university in larger cities, to better and higher paying jobs in larger cities, to a wider selection of men in the larger cities. The men who stay in smaller towns, the ones I heard this from were farmers, do so because they own or inherit family farms or small businesses and feel an obligation to carry on the family tradition. They then discover there are no attractive women unmarried women in the entire county. I once heard a woman say the same thing. She had never felt pretty in her life. But after moving to a small town she realized that she was the most attractive woman in town, in the county, and in the neighboring county.

There is a dearth of economic opportunity in small towns. The HOT ones can use their looks to earn money, prostitution being one avenue. It is the avenue I focused on due to the nature of this forum.

I do not, and did not, claim that ALL attractive Brazilian women ALL over Brazil have no other options than become prostitutes.

This entire discussion is subject to what exactly is meant by 'hot'. Individual taste varies.

That´s true, Arraial is changing a lot. It´s not the wild and crazy place it used to be. The Prefeitura wants Arraial to become a new chic version of Buzios. They want to attract tourists with lots of money.

Thanks for that update. I was last there 2 years ago and had about the same impression then. On a related note: the beaches in Arraial are gorgeous, but I noticed they now have horsemen patrolling the area. In my opinion, the decision to become a GDP is really more a personal choice than anything else. I've lived in the Brazilian countryside of Rio de Janeiro for five months plus, so I have seen quite extreme poverty and desesperation first-hand. And still, only a very small minority of the girls chose to become hookers. Some do it out of pure desesperation, some for the easy money, some because they are very promiscuous anyway and don't mind getting paid for it. Needless to say, looks have very little to do with it, and while they help, they are certainly not a prerequisite for getting involved in P4P (plus, the Brazilian concept of beauty might be quite different from our Western one, anyway). In the small city where I lived, actually not so far from the border with Minas, every single day I saw girls of ALL races that would make anyone's jaw drop if they ever walked down Av. Atlantica in Copacabana. I never took a bus around town there where I wouldn't spot at least one rock-solid 9. Blonds, brunettes, jet-black hair, gauchas, mulatas, negras, it didn't matter. It was just mind-boggling.

I don't agree with this. I have been to Belo H. and there are not all that many HOT garotas there. I also went to a couple of the larger towns in Minas with the same observation. There are lots of average chicas looking for a BFE because of the poverty. You can play them and get a GFE from them.

Maybe I am just splitting hairs here in terms of terminology, but anyhow. The way I see it, you get a GFE when a hooker acts LIKE she were your girlfriend, and you pay her for pretending to be LIKE your girlfriend for a while. By logical extension, you can not get a GFE from a regular girl because she is NOT a hooker, and you don't pay her (at least not directly). What you can get from a non-pro is "free" sex, no-strings attached sex, friendship with (sexual benefits), whatever... or an experience AS a GF. In other words, a relationship. Just think about the other side of the equation: these girls are not looking for a "BFE"; if anything, they are looking for a boyfriend. Just like most girls in any other place in the world. Unless they are just looking for non-strings attached sex, a friend with benefits, someone for some booty calls, they are clearly looking for a relationship: a run-of-the-mill boyfriend, maybe someone to help them out financially somewhat, someone to marry, someone to take them out their poverty. Maybe a short-term relationship, maybe an open relationship, perhaps a very liberal, non-exclusive one, but still a relationship. They are not certainly not looking for someone pretending to be their BF while he is not.

Or to use your words: you play them, you get a GF. You pay them, you get a GFE (maybe). Big difference for me. Still, these two concepts can be very muddled at times, as I addressed in two earlier posts a while ago (both in RoD):

Just my experience, but I think the ugly ones go to the army because they can't find anyone to get them pregnant.

Once in the army, the guys don't have much selection so THEN they get fat & pregnant. Most recent public example: Private Lynndie England. I kinda hate to pick on her since I think the big-shots got off clean while little fish like her took the heat but I think she does illustrate the point.

As far as the reputation of Minas for hot chicks...I got a lot of friends here in the US from Minas (they're called Mineiros) and they all say small towns in Minas are loaded with hotties (of course when you're far from home your memory can play tricks on you).

There's a lot of hot Mineiras living in the Newark area and all along I95 up to Boston and all the Mineiros say "These girls would be considered ugly if we were back home. They only come here because they couldn't get good husbands in Brasil". That's a pretty typical chauvinistic attitude. I doubt it's that simple, but it is the prevailing "wisdom" among the Mineiros.

The Mineiros will concede Santa Catarina has tons of hotties (especially if you like Loiras). Also, Paulistas (they usually cite a big city like Sao Paulo is bound to have a lot of pretty girls with a metropolitan flair). Also, the city of Curitiba (state of Parana) has a reputation for hotties (many light skin & hair) as well.

My humble opinion is the mixing of races usually produces superior progeny. I submit as evidence pure-bred dogs. They are beautiful to look at; but you must be careful when buying one because the shallow gene pool has allowed many health problems to float to the surface (usually in eyes and hips). Had they bred with other breeds, some stronger chromosomes might have filled in the weak spots.

In Latin America "inter-breeding" became socially acceptable earlier than in North America. Brasil may be the most extreme example of it. Therefore, the country is crawling with hot chicks everywhere you go. The south tends to be more blond and the north tends to be more dark. Basically, I think when people immigrated, they went to familiar climates. Northern Europeans stayed away from the equator and the africans stayed closer to it. Add asian blood and the blood of the aboriginal South American tribes...and you got "Hottie DNA Cocktail"!

As one acquaintance told me after his first visit to Brasil:

Has anyone ever heard about this small Amazonian town at the Northern border of Brazil? It’s a typical last frontier town were gold diggers, traffickers, outlaws, adventurers and hookers meet each other in the noisy bars along the dirty streets. But this town will become famous as in 2008 there will be a bridge here between France and Brazil. Yes, you have heard me! On the other side of the Oyapock river is French Guyana, full territory of France, officially EEC and Euroland, hosting the most advanced European technological skills with the European Space Agency. To reach Oiapoque from French Guyana, it’s a simple 4€ boat trip to cross the river. There is no visa or required or passport check, as long as the trip is not further than the town itself.

I arrived late in the evening at Saint George, the streets were empty and nobody along the river. I notice a Brazilian guy and ask him to cross the river. No problem, he can bring me, but asks me to wait 5 minutes for other passengers to come. Three Brazilian girls leave the last closing bar, join us and we leave. The river trip in the middle of the Amazonian night is magical. The girls are watching me from time to time. I can imagine what they came to do on the French side late at night.

The Brazilian side is much more crowded. I ask the girls for money change. They bring be to the opposite shop and I change my money with a 2.5 rate(1€ for 2.5 Real). How long does it take to get there from Rio say by bus/car? How is the price of hotels there? Expensive? Average or cheap?

I've been a couple of times, mixed feelings. It's nice to get away from the bustle of the cities and the main (historic) part of Paraty has no motorised vehicles. Having said that it can be busy with organised groups of tourists walking about in guided gaggles.

If you've got the Lonely Planet Guide to Brasil it has excellent suggestions on places to stay and where to eat. Food varies enormously in quality - from near-Michelin quality to disgusting - and with little or no difference in price.

You don't have to go too far to find a quiet beach and the countryside is walking distance (or short bus ride). There's a 'farm' where you can hire horses for the day a few miles nice walk out of town (except when I went I had just missed them - they were all out grazing - the locals were trying to be nice and concerned and make me welcome but I could tell they found it quite amusing too lol).

I've never spotted any mongering, even in the modern part of the town.
