Mexico's INM will want to see your passport. There are no travel restrictions now so you should be able to walk over without problems, but they are still bullying gringos into paying $20-30, depending on how scared they look.

Imo you crossed the line by giving the civ money. Even if you stop giving the working girl money you may have been ok as she got some money from you. Once you gave the working girls potential money to a civ not doing what it takes to be a HK girl or following the rules of HK girls it was only a matter of time before it was reported imo.

Don't know what Teq brand you bought. If you just order a tequila shot, meseros will bring the cheapest brand, Jose Cuervo Especial, $5 a shot in HK, $10 a fifth in store. It has certain chemicals that will give you headache, thirst, hang over, stomach ache, some time complete pass out until you drink it often enough for your body to get used to and can resist those chemical allergies.
HK's tequilero, Speedy, also pours JC Especial from the bottle, down your throat, $5 for 3 shots. He then squirts beers in, wraps your head in a towel and shakes it violently for the maximum buzz hehe. One night I went to a steak house with a wingman, drank half a bottle of Argentine's bitter Malbec, came back to HK, sucked down 3 or 4 beers, then Speedy showed his face and poured me a couple shots of JC. That night my whole digestive system was in a lot of pain, like it was filled with concrete, felt a big thirst but did not feel like drinking, eating or even breathing for 2 days. It could have been fatal. I never had digestive problem with any wine or beer until that point, so the JC shots in combination with beers and wines really messed me up.
OTOH in HK I drank quite a few shots of JC Esp, Don Julio 70, Don Julio 1942, Macallan 15, Johnny Walkers ect, sometimes in combinations, got the happy buzz, never any headache, thirst or hang over. One night I already had a couple Teq shots, went to Chicago with wingmen and sipped down a shot of a cheap tequila, $8 a fifth. Man, that Teq was harsh, tasted like high-octane gas hehe. To avoid health problem it's prudent to order only brands you are used to drinking at home, in sealed bottles or cans, and only in reputable bars when out of the country. Lots of guy don't really know what their expensive liquors should taste and smell like and just keep buying and knocking them down with their putas. A few young bulls from Texas have died after a night of binge drinking on the streets of Asia.
Crooks in Asia even counterfeit popular and upscale beer brands like Heineken. Just fill bottles with local beer, put a cap and a label on them and sell them for more than local brands. Beer cans are safer as canning requires more equipment for sealing. This world is so fucked up with stupid, nasty, greedy people. Overall, Tijuana bars are still fairly safe compared to those in Asia. Just stick to what you normally drink and always protect your drinks from potential spiking with ruffies by some assholes.

There are tequilas that are even cheaper than JC and seem to be almost pure grain alcohol. For example, I can handle my tequila, but a shot or two of the free "tequila" offered at the door of the other clubs will mess me up completely. Perhaps to save on costs, HK has started using this extra low quality tequila when a customer does not ask for a specific brand of tequila. Best to always ask for your favorite brand so you will know instantly after you taste that you did not get what you asked for.

I'm excited, but just a little apprehensive too. Quit drinking 2 1/2 years ago and I'm wondering how this will change things. Loved sucking back Polars in HK surrounded by sexy chicas. I generally do not drink during the day. But on the rare instances I'm in HK during the day time, until I get a bottle of water, they swarm. Once I have water, they disappear. Lasts longer than a shot of Patron. Less tips for them I suppose.
As to your larger point, congrats on your sobriety. I imagine this will be a challenge. For me, I do associate HK with excessive drinking. LOL Interestingly, I very rarely drink in my "real life."

" Of course I convey it to the putas in less vulgar terms. I usually have Red Bull or Cola or Agua Mineral. Known meseros often greet me with their nickname, "Agua Mineral. " Nobody is offended as long as you tip when served. I have seen too many young power drinkers miss opportunities. My goal in Tijuana is to pound as many putas as many times as my aging body will withstand, plus two.
You will have more fun sober, so party on and enjoy yourself. And your memories that will be a lot sharper the next day.

It is concerning. I've heard enough stories about Tropical to believe it's true. When I drink there, I order directly from the bar. Until these stories go away, my next visit to HK will start with me ordering a bottle of tequila, opened in front of me.
The only issue though would be to assume it is the mesero. We all know certain chicas have very good working agreements with certain meseros. So best to be aware.

But I wouldn't put it past any of the ZN bars to sell adulterated or counterfeit liquor. I remember a couple years back the slew of tourists getting sick or getting dead after drinking liquor in some all-inclusive resorts. I've read about shipments of counterfeit Jack Daniels being seized in Thailand. So, on the very few times I visit a ZN bar I drink beer that is opened in front of me. I save the cocktails for higher end restaurants and clubs far away from the ZN.

If you decided to quit alcohol, it's good not getting back in it. Quitting is easy, I quit almost every week hehe. I would have a beer to have fun with the bro then cannot stop. Sucking down beer after beer all night does make hanging out fun, exciting and happy, but may cause erectile problems in bed.
HK does not serve coffee. Meseros would have to go to Azul for the weak mixed instant. It's bad for your health to suck down any of those sugary soft drinks, raising sugar and triglyceride levels in your blood, causing diabetes, strokes, heart attacks.
Nobody cares what you drink in the club. You don't have to show bravado knocking down shots after shots of hard liquor to have fun like groups of young guys. Many guys just order a bottle of water or juice. The orange juice is huge, fresh and natural, $5 for 22 Ozs. Tell the meseros to bring a glass with ice and it would last you all night.
The pineapple juice is also good. Pineapple and papaya extracts are used in meat tenderizers, sure make meats tender and juicy, potentially their natural ingredients have medicinal properties that can soften and dilate blood vessels, make them more flexible, clean out the arteries and prevent a number of cardiovascular diseases. A few guys swear these juices, including celery, boost their libido for multiple sessions a night.

If you decided to quit alcohol, it's good not getting back in it. Quitting is easy, I quit almost every week hehe. I would have a beer to have fun with the bro then cannot stop. They or there family could be killed. HK makes, big money, they are not going to let someone jeopardize there business, there are cameras everywhere and security.
It would take 2-3 people being involved to be successful and rip off multiple guys. That is just not going to happen. Is it possible, yes, but highly unlikely.
Now in Colombia and other places it is a common practice, but again I think this happens more at guy's apartment or night clubs.

After 2-3 drinks I get a water either from my room or from one of the local shops as I walk between clubs. I drink a lot of water because it prevents me from getting too drunk but I still get the relaxation from alcohol and fun buzzed feeling. I have done this on big cruise trips with drink package that I start drinking at 9 AM. Drink lots of water and party til 2 AM. I have done this when a friend and I put down an entire bottle of tequila or Johnny Walker together drink lots of water. On this trip April 15/16 I had at the very min 15 shots from HK, Tropical, Chicago and Adelitas. A few girls we had multiple drinks and even got a couple shots from the 3rd floor on Cascadas as we went to room so it was probably closer to 20 shots than 15. You may really have to bear down and do some calculations to see if the card is worth the value. Really the 70% off Monday & Tuesday and free drink every 12 hours are the only solid benefits.
If your stay includes at least 1 night on a Monday or Tuesday then the VIP card easily becomes worth the price.
I believe Tropical Bar also has a VIP card that is cheaper & you could still take HK girls to your room.
2 overnight stays and 2 of my drinks each stay (Don Julio Rep) cover the cost of VIP card. I can get a third visit in there more often than not. If I get there at 3 PM and leave next day at noon. And do not mind taquila in morning. It is all good.
I also make use of the shuttle but I think anyone who stays at hotel can manage this.
Understand some people drink beer or find other ways of being frugal with money. Those concepts may lead to the conclusion there are better ways. There are for some.

It's been couple of years since I went to zona Norte. I have taken my own room at Cascades many times for multiple nights during weekdays and then travelled back and forth between SD downtown and Tijuana I. E. Head to Tijuana in eve and then return to SD late at night. I stayed over night at Cascades and it wasn't great. The hotel has no windows and it gets loud at night if your room is closer to the street..I stay at Cascadas.
I bring a computer and headphones. I listen to music or other stuff through the night.
I also stay in the club downstairs till about 3 am or later. I come up when I am tired and sleepy. So I am able to get a few hours sleep.
Staying at Cascadas is convenient. So worth the trade off for me.

Supposedly this has just started this week and is forcing girls to sell a certain number of dances or be fined. I have only heard one side of this story so would have to talk to other sources to see what the real story is. This may be very short lived but it does seem that they are trying to make up for lost revenue over the last few years.

That's exactly my thought, they're trying to find a way increase revenue. But to me, the impromptu lap dance is imperative to decide whether to take a girl upstairs. HK's owners and managers spend every minutes of their lives figuring out how to make more profit by squeezing everyone involved, mongers, chicas, meseros. They are always experimenting with ways and rules to maximize profit.
They institute kick backs for every dollar spent in the club and the hotel, so every one works hard to bring in dollars. For fichas, the chicas get $3-5, meseros get $1 plus tip, so they are very quick to push you to buy the chicas drinks.
HK girls also get a 25% kick back from Cascada for each $30 session. That's $7.50. $30 for the room in 30 minutes is way too high. Guys should bring street girls in the same rooms for $7 like local guys.
At various times HK was pushing the lap dance, $21 for 3 songs in the cramped, pitch black and airtight cubicles. There is not enough room for chicas to take their panties down and guys to park their faces in their crotches. Very few guys would buy lap dance, knowing they get about the same dance with girls with fichas in the club. HK had a VIP coupon for half off lap dance for $11. Guys would pay meseros $11 instead of $21, but very few chicas wanted to do it with that discount, so it was terminated.

And was wondering if you guys have any suggest regarding getting into Tijuana.
Planning on going with some friends either on an Uber or car but would appreciate some help. Wondering where is the best place to park in the US side or if we should just cross over with the car. Is it safe to park in HK parking lot etc planning to at least sleep over the night. Would appreciate any info regarding this. Or if anyone is willing to drive us to Tijuana and back on the next day, we can pay for gas. (Will be a group of 3 and speak Spanish).

Driving Across:
You should get Mexican car insurance. Your American insurance is worthless, and getting caught without insurance can have dire consequences.
And you should park in one of several pay lots within a block of the zona. I use Libra, which is on Constitucion across from the alley. I've parked my shiny new Subaru there many times with no problems.

Just park and walk across and take a taxi to the Zona. They have a website that will drive you across but it's not worth it. Also I wouldn't trust some random stranger on here. Even with 3 of you it would be very easy to rob you and leave you in Tijuana.

Park in the street at ocean beach, take a the bus or uber to trolley and go to Mexico. If you left nothing visible in the car and put nothing in trunk when you parked, you have a 99% chance to return to a car the way you left it. Beyond that, parking at old Town trolley is an option but since the rv dwellers were kicked out. There's nobody's be watching your car. All night long are sketch heads walking past your car cursing at invisible people. Also when I slept here at times will be the cops of some sort even at 2, 3 5 am. So in this parking lot, a punched put window is your most likely price to pay. This would be from mental head who needs to punch something not theft related. In this lot, and all trolleyb stations will be people who park with the " Club". Even for cars from 1990. Reason is if you steal a car and drive it into Mexico nobody will stop you. Personally I have insurance to cover theft and windows and catalytic converters issues. The other trolley stations, are 8th street, which is just a bit past downtown San Diego. It is away from any residences so less likely to get the teenage criminals. Same with Palomar. Palomar is closer to Tijuana so if your feeling hungover Palomar is better get off trolley ASAP. I've parked across street from outlets at the border 1 block from the school, maybe twice but that's a very bad idea and I don't try it anymore. If you are very new to the scene and going for the 1st time, and not needing a hotel, you can park a t the outlets, keep walking into a few stores, change your javket or shirt, keep walking through outlets and into Mexico. And be back by 830 9 pm. This is how I did my 1st trip. My 1st trip to Mexico I knew what to do based on news reports for 4 years on a missing san Diego family that case was eventually solved. That was before I had ever been to California.

Got in HK about 7 PM Wed night. The club was already packed. All tables on the 1st and 2nd floor were on reserve with a $500 price tag. HK really rachets up prices for its events, but by 10 PM all tables were taken, many with multiple bottles for groups of guys.

The event had broad appeals to all kinds pf people, especially local Mexicans. I would say 2/3 of the clients were local Mexicans with friends, some with GF's wives. The rest was a mix of Gringos, Asians, Blacks.
