With a choice of staying at either the Fairmont Makati or the Holiday Inn and Suites Makati, which would be better recommended for a first time traveler to the phils?

Look forward to hearing any opinions on either place as I did note the recent good comments which were made about the Fairmont.

I stayed at Holiday Inn & Suites Makati few months ago and I love the hotel services. I also admire the hotel features because it has an outdoor pool and fitness center. I really enjoyed my stay their. So, I highly recommend Holiday Inn & Suites Makati. Try to use http://www.ninjabooker.com/ to book for this hotel because it will give you the best rates.

Look forward to hearing any opinions on either place as I did note the recent good comments which were made about the Fairmont.I stay at the Fairmont 3-4 times a month and think it's now he best place in Makati. Last month, I was with a friend, who remained in country for several weeks, and wanted to compare some of the hotels. Though he normally stays at the Fairmont or the Shang, he elected to stay for 3 nights at the Holiday Inn as well. His assessment was that the latter was a solid four star, while the Fairmont remained solidly in the five star range.

Thanks for the replies guys! Cheers for the website tip in regards to finding some better rates also, I'll be sure to check it out.

I have been very seriously considering booking the Holiday Inn & Suites as it's priced quite well and even more importantly it's smack bang in the middle of Glorietta Mall. Thought something like that might be useful for a first time visit to Manila, but I have heard some shocking stories about wait times for the elevators there during busy times, so that has made me consider another hotel and the Fairmont does sound like a good second option.

I won't be arriving til July 21st, so there's still plenty of time to decide. I'll be staying in Manila for 3 weeks, maybe even a week in Cebu depending on how things go.

Have also read that both of these hotels are girl friendly, so that's a plus either way.

Ascott Makati is located as good as Holiday inn, has large outdoor pool and great fitness center(i like to stay fit using real live girls though). It comes with larger serviced apts to a ok deal if booked through Ascott own sites. Bigger than Fairmont, Holiday and Shangri-la. I allways go for the 1 bdr excecutive 88 sqm apt. If you become a online member even cheaper. It is good enough for me and I am rather picky to be honest and have ofcourse stayed at the other mentioned places except Shangri-la Makati. But I like mongerspace and kitchenette and not the hotel style as it becomes to much hazzle at times. Ascott Makati comes in two towers lay out. 4 elevators in each tower. Never any waiting time in peak hrs.. Friendly and descrete staff and great security..

How much does the Ascott charge for airport pick up by the way? Holiday Inn quoted me 1500 PHP. More expensive than a locally priced taxi fare, but I think for my first time arriving in country it's probably the way to go.

Infact i don't know if they charge for wifi anymore as it seems free for everyone these days. You can call and check this out. Earlier i allways had one wifi for free as it was incl in the roomrate. I am picky but as long as it a spacious apt i dont think 500 or 1000piso(wifi incl or not)added or withdrawed are of great importance.. Beeing in a hotelroom makes it creepy as i dont get some air from the girls i fuck. I like to stay in the livingroom while the girls play with cartoons or candycrush in the bedroom between sessions.. Space space and air air.
Breakfast also incl in my roomrates but even i haved stayed many many days at Ascott as a hole i would guess i have ate it 2 times. This not due to it stinks bcs i remember they did have a good and many foods and great selections in every matter. Just to early so i buy some bakery stuffs close buy so i have some handfood on sight.. Ascott seems crowded and it seems to have its fair share of long time residents. I just blend out from the crowd bringing in and out girls rather frequent. It is probably just a put on act but security.
I allways use Ascott transportation when leaving as you can leave in stealth manners from the underground parking lot(1800 each way). You can also arrive there if you like. From airport i sometimes use the taximafia as they are allways the one closest to where i get out. Last time i think i paid 550piso from T3 to Ascott with mafia plus 20piso for 150mts with skyway. I want no hazzle on arrival or departure and dragging suitcases here and there is totaly not an option. It is hot, greasy and i am horny. Just want to get to hotel fast, pour a whiskey and start mongering.. From T2 i believe i paid 700piso or sth to the mafia so i guess they have a system as T2 is located further away than T3.
Well mafia and mafia they dont seem very dangerous, hehe, and use nice cars and you even get a receit(for whatever reason). I like a decent modern car as traffic can be heavy so i put my legs in the backseat and have a nap while fighting traffic. Trappic stopped irritating me a long time ago. Good luck..

Have read on some reviews about the Ascott on tripadvisor that the rooms are in need of renovation and getting a bit old, do you find that?

Would anyone happen to know if Raffles Makati is girl friendly by any chance?

Would anyone happen to know if Raffles Makati is girl friendly by any chance?Them rooms could use some renovations, mostly regarding the actual closet and bathtub. I look another way regarding this small matters. Fairmont (Raffles beeing the all suites / apt part of Fairmont) are newer. But Ascott is clean and nice. Atleast it is ok to me and I am pretty used to dealing with top hotels in a global perspective.

There is not one hotel / serviced apt in this area which are NOT girlfriendly (Raffles incl). These places runs a highly customerfriendly attitude and will probably raise their eyebrows but not deny you if you brought 2 females midgets and one bakla at the same time to your room. But ofcourse they would appreciate it if your visitors did not have hooker written all over them (dress and simulars signs they carry).

I'll think it over the next few days and decide whether I will stay at The Ascott, Holiday Inn, Fairmont or Raffles. They all do seem quite good in their own way, I especially like the look of the one bedroom residences in Raffles though! Maybe I'll stay a week in each and get a feel for them all.

Thank you very much for all of the information that you have provided and to the other posters on here also, it really is much appreciated.

I'm looking at hotels in Malate near MBC and I can't seem to find one that has smoking rooms?

Can anyone make any recommendations for a decent hotel, with a safe, that has smoking rooms for around $30? As well as P Burgos, if possible?

I will definitely be reporting my trip similar to Spidy's style.

Thank youThe Duck Inn on MH del Pilar has smoking rooms (p1,300) and in room safes: decent hotel with wifi and resto. Also, it is a about a 5 minute walk from there to LA Cafe (formerly MBC).

I think payment is in cash, if I remember correctly--although they'll wait until morning to collect if you arrive without enough cash. And there's a mosque next door. WC had a great story about being awakened very early in the morning with the wail of Miuslim call to prayer right on the other side of the wall of his room at Duck Inn. But they probably do have smoking rooms.

Be prepared to walk steep stairs.

Anybody have experience with this place? It's on Jorge Bocobo in Malate, near the corner of Pedro Gil. Presumably near Eurotel and the Pedro Gil entrance to Robinson's Place Mall.

They have different residences with different names. These suites are right on the actual corner.

The apartments are quite pleasant but small and basic. I visited a friend who was staying there. Many employment agencies use these apartments as "holding pens" for their employees waiting for their flights abroad as OFWs.

Yeah, this has to be it. Thanks. Leave it to Lungsod ng Manila to screw up the street numbering. Based on numbering for other businesses on Bocobo and adjacent streets (Manila Manor, Bocobo; Zombanga Restaurant, Adriatico; Rothman Hotel, Adriatico; Riviera Mansion, Mabini), the 1600 block of Bocobo should be the first block south of Pedro Gil. Not so with the JMM Suites, which are north of Pedro Gil but numbered 1622 Bocobo. And since the building is at the corner of Adriatico and Pedro Gil, why not give it an Adriatico address? Oh, I get it; they consider the little circular drive next to Starbucks as Bocobo Street. I keep forgetting: this is the Philippines.

Reviews on Agoda suggest that JMM has great views and nice little kitchenettes, but service is unreliable. May give this a pass since catching a 6 am flight at NAIA means being able to count on having employees at the hotel registration desk very early in the morning. Or maybe move to a hotel nearer the airport for the last night? But check in at midnight at JMM may also be a problem.

West. Thanks for the Duck Review. I've stayed there once and can confirm that the upper floors offer the better rooms.

Skip Kost, since you've researched JMM, could you please give a bit more info. What was the price?

For a change of pace, maybe a good question for discussion on the Manila Hotel thread is (drumroll), which place has the worst value for the money?

Although I've never stayed there, I will nominate the Swag. They have the restaurant, they have the Swaggy bus, but the rooms are a bit wanting. (I have inspected rooms at both Ermita and AC).

Skip Kost, since you've researched JMM, could you please give a bit more info. What was the price? After a little more research I concluded that the JMM Suites are indeed on Bocobo Street in the first block south of Pedro Gil. Apologies to Lungsod ng Manila: the JMM Suites are in Birch Tower, at 1622 Bocobo. Google Earth is deceptive in that somebody marked JMM Suites at the base of One Adriatico Place--the big apartment building attached to Robinson's Place at the corner of Adriatico and Pedro Gil. (A note says the location "is not verified. ") Also, in the Google Earth view the only building tall enough to have at least 22 floors on that block of Bocobo Street was the Manila Manor Hotel at 1660 Bocobo. (Why 22 floors? Because two reviewers reported that registration is on the 22nd floor.) Alas, the Google Earth image is from 2010, and the Birch Tower was under construction later than that. Seems to have been ready for occupation some time in 2012. The JMM group appears to own something else named JMM Apartments. Is this what RK visited in the Robinson Place Towers, One Adriatico Place?

I will attempt to attach a photo that shows Birch Tower under construction--essentially behind Eurotel.

Agoda offers three room types: a studio with 28 sq. Meters, a king suite with 28 sq. Meters, and a one bedroom apartment with 58 sq. Meters. The main advantage of a King Suite is a view of Manila Bay. The other rooms advertise balconies or terraces, but obviously the views may be to the North, East, or South. Prices are at approximately $10 intervals, with the studio at $49 and the one bedroom at $69. These prices exclude 12% tax and 10% Agoda service charge. Bed arrangement, at least for the studio, may be a roulette--a king, a full, or two singles. Other two sizes seem to have king beds. Features include a pool, kitchenettes, in-room safe, and WiFi. Doesn't say whether WiFi is extra.

For those not familiar with Ermita and Malate, this JMM Suites is barely inside Malate. Pedro Gil is the boundary. North of Pedro Gil is Ermita; south of Pedro Gil is Malate. This distinction matters if you care to use the filter available in Agoda's site to check out different areas of Metro Manila. LA Cafe, Amazonia, G-Point and Robinson's Place Mall are in Ermita. Numerous monger hotels are just barely in Malate: Palm Plaza, Las Palmas, Riviera Mansion, Executive Plaza, Rothman, and Eurotel Pedro Gil. Also in Malate, the Remedios Circle area has numerous night clubs, many owned by or catering to Asians. To get there, turn left out the front of Birch Tower, and go about 2 1/2 blocks.

The location of JMM Suites puts them about 8 to 10 minutes walking from LA Cafe, Amazonia, and G-Point, and about two minutes from Robinson's Place Mall. The mall has shopping for almost anything you could want, both Western and Filipino cuisine restaurants, and occasional freelancers cruising for Western mongers, especially near Starbucks on the first floor.

To get to LAC, turn right out the door of JMM, go half a block to Pedro Gil, turn left and go three blocks, turn right on M. H. del Pilar, and LAC is on the left after one long block. Can't miss it. Ask any monger inside for directions to Amazonia or G-Point.

JMM Suites is also about a ten minute walk from the LRT, Pedro Gil Station, as long as you're comfortable traveling as a packed sardine. To get there turn right out the door, go half a block to Pedro Gil, turn right and go five blocks to Taft. The station is up to the left.

There are also at least three convenience stores and numerous other eateries within a couple minutes walk of JMM. Traditional folk dance show at Zamboanga Restaurant: right out the door to Pedro Gil, turn left for one block, turn left on Adriatico, it's half a block up on the right, shortly before Rothman Hotel. Decent seafood by Philippine standards and musicians wandering among the tables playing for tips prior to and after the show; may be a place to impress some Filipina dates. Don't let them sucker you into getting on stage. They got me the first time, never again. I have used money changers on both sides of Adriatico in this block, and their rates were better than the airport.

Reviews for JMM are mixed. Filipinos seem to hate it; Westerners and other foreigners are less critical. Negatives are that registration is on the 22nd floor, staff are not always available, and when they're available some of them may be rude. (I take this to mean there are condos in lower floors and the hotel begins at the 22nd.) Others report that staff are okay. People like the view, the kitchenettes, the pool, and proximity to Robinson's Place Mall.

How'd I do X?

Slippery
07-06-14, 01:51
Just a stupid question but couldn't JMM just say they're in Birch Tower? Anybody that lives in that area knows where Birch Tower is. Ooooops, I forgot. Its in the Philippines. There I go thinking like a westerner again.

Spaceman. The two person restriction is for the lessee's; the owners want to prevent large groups / families from renting as well as from subletting to "bed spacers". No problem for you to have two or three guests visit or even stay overnight.

Fast eddie 48.Just for the sake of clarity I presume we're talking about the Rothman Hotel in Ermita. I don't know what room type you stayed in or when you stayed FE, but when I stayed there last Dec there was a fairly large safe in my room.

This is comment from a good friend who has just been in the Great Eastern hotel on Makati Avenue. Basically he called me and said "don't ever stay there" Seems the rooms need serious TLC, his room smelt of mold and the carpet was worse than threadbare.

The pool (he wanted a pool) has been closed for 6-8 weeks and he told me many guests were complaining and checking out.

He had booked 6 nights via Agoda as the price was good. He called Agoda and complained so it refunded him and he moved elsewhere along Makati Avenue where he is now happy.

Good on Agoda and shows it can work but although I have not been there, this is a good friend so maybe best to avoid. I wold trust his judgement.

Yes, my room did have a safe. Also they will put valuables in the safe in the lobby.

Next time, RTTF.Thans guys for the confirmation about the safe in Rothman.

First things first, I have read all posts on this thread for upto 1.5 years from date. Did not read further, as I feel information becomes outdated. When You read so much in one go, one also tends to forget what all he has read! So maybe I forgot about the Rothman safe info posted anywhere earlier.

I have no major questions about bars and girls. ALl that is very very clear. I am sort of confused about hotels in Manila.

My concerns.

1. Looking for a decent up-market hotel in 100 USD (taxes included) range. Any suggestions?? Hotels like Rothman's sound too soddy for comfort. No disrespect meant to fellow mongers who stay there. Don't want a 150 USD / day hotel either.

2. What's the right way? Carry US $ , say about 2000 USD with me or just withdraw from ATM daily. What would you do in my position. We all know drawing from ATM is safer but high costs.

3. I don't want to be in a hotel where I put my things in a safe only to find that things are gone when I come back. In 2001 , I stayed in a soddy hotel in Bogota, Colombia. That's what exactly happened! However when I stay in 4* (paid for, by work) hotels, that never happens.

4. Will it be prudent to take a apartment instead of a hotel room?

5. If a girl does a *volteface* and turns out and say " Give me 200 USD for me to leave your place", which place will be more secure in such a scenario? A hotel or an apartment?

6. Anyone with experience at Holiday Inn, which is 120 USD a night. (still too high for comfort). Would prefer a 90-100 USD / night place.

About me- world traveler to over a 100 countries. However, going first time ever to Phillippines and only and only for mongering. So do understand the usual things about safety, mongering, traveling etc. Just need you experienced blokes perspective on Manila Hotels strictly with the perspective of a monger.

Thank you

The rooms are clean and the hotel checks guests in and out. It has a nice restaurant. Not in Makati, but in the entertainment district, near Robinson Mall. A good place for a couple of days. In Makati, I liked the Mandarin Oriental, although I heard it is closing for renovations, not sure when. About $110 US.

Its a gritty area, and Brit seems to want more upscale. Cost for LG is about $55/ night. Just across the street (and north 1/2 block) is City Garden hotel (slightly nicer with a nice buffet breakfast), about $70/ night. If Brit wants more upscale in Malate, try the Sari Pan Pacific, about 5 blocks south from LG hotel (luxurious, but at about $140/ night). All of Malate is gritty. Or possibly the Manila Hotel.

Thans guys for the confirmation about the safe in Rothman.Rothman is in Malate, not the nicer area of Makati / Ortigas where you mentioned the Holiday Inn (more upscale).

1. Looking for a decent up-market hotel in 100 USD (taxes included) range. Any suggestions?? Hotels like Rothman's sound too soddy for comfort. No disrespect meant to fellow mongers who stay there. Don't want a 150 USD / day hotel either.Rothman can be had for $50/ night, and you pay extra for wifi.

2. What's the right way? Carry US $ , say about 2000 USD with me or just withdraw from ATM daily. What would you do in my position. We all know drawing from ATM is safer but high costs.I bring in about 1500 USD, then ATM when it runs out. An ATM withdrawal will (probably) cost you $5 for the machine, and another $5 from your out-of-network bank.

3. I don't want to be in a hotel where I put my things in a safe only to find that things are gone when I come back. In 2001 , I stayed in a soddy hotel in Bogota, Colombia. That's what exactly happened! However when I stay in 4* (paid for, by work) hotels, that never happens. In all the years, I only lost some things once, a LT girl schlepped out in the middle of the night and lightened my load. Have never lost anything to hotel employees. Laptop, cash, you name it, I've left it sitting out in the room many times, and never had anything stolen (not even in some of the dives I've stayed in).

6. Anyone with experience at Holiday Inn, which is 120 USD a night. (still too high for comfort). Would prefer a 90-100 USD / night place.Have stayed there twice. Lovely place, and you get exactly what you pay for. Never had a problem taking girls up to the room. Compared to, say, Bangkok, the hotels are overpriced in Manila.

Britisher might want to look into Oxford Suites on Burgos. Significant action possibilities abound as soon as one leaves the hotel, and though it's been quite a while since I've stayed there, I would guess that the room prices are under a hundred dollars. I've got friends who also stay at the St. Giles in the Burgos area and appear satisfied with the place. As to cash, I'm not sure why guys run the risk of carrying great wads of it around. I've always used the ATMs, and think the extra charges are a worthwhile trade off for the peace of mind that comes with not having to worry about getting cash stolen.

Like others, in my (almost) 11 years here, I've never lost anything in a hotel room and I rarely even use the in-room safes. I routinely leave iPhones, iPads and a computer charging in the room.

GE.Oxford Suites needs some TLC and as I said a while ago the hotel rooms were smelly (mold etc). St Giles is fine and there is an ATM outside the hotel (Maybank) that I have used in the past.

Avoid the Great Eastern (see my FR below).

The Berjaya Hotel near St Giles is nice as friends wo walked out of the Great Eastern are now staying there and report it is good and clean (about 2800 pesos a night.

Walking around with lots of cash is an open invitation to be mugged IMHO or scammed when in the bars as someone will notice it, feel it etc.

I'll thumbs-up Berjaya. I was there at Christmas. About p3000, nice rooms that are spacious. No breakfast. There was both wifi and wired in the room. Pool. No problems taking girls in / out. Two blocks from Burgos Street, right off Makati Ave.

Hi,

I'm a relative newbie. About to leave on my second (business) trip to Manila.

Does anyone have any experience with the F1 hotel in Global City? Is it visitor friendly?

Also, any suggestions about where to get P4P girls nearby?

Stayed there 6/11-6/14/14. It is a Best Western Hotel, and the nightly charge was 3,306 pesos. That is before the 12.6% gov't charge + 10% service charge. The location was excellent, no problem bringing in girls. However, the A / see is only in the lobby and your room. You sweat your balls off in the elevator and the hallways. The rugs are musty / smelly / mildew. I was there for 3 nights after 3 nights in the New World Hotel, so yeah, what a letdown.

But, if you want cheap, and an excellent location, not bad. Don't forget to always book for 2 people, and they may throw in the breakfast. It cost 669 p for two.

He had booked 6 nights via Agoda as the price was good. He called Agoda and complained so it refunded him and he moved elsewhere along Makati Avenue where he is now happy.

Good on Agoda and shows it can work but although I have not been there, this is a good friend so maybe best to avoid. I wold trust his judgement.Occasionally I have need of an inexpensive place to accommodate sudden dalliances without the stigma if hot sheet hotels.

5 years ago I stopped using Great Eastern Makati. It has been flogged to death & never renovated. Same for Great Eastern Quezon City. Same for Makati Prime Towers, Oxford Suites etc. Alas a cheap respectable place does not exist anywhere in the vicinity of Burgos any more. Its hot sheet hotels (cramped) or big $ hotel these days AFAIK.

Work has booked me into this hotel in October and was wondering if anyone has stayed their and are they GF.

Address is 406 Vito Cruz extension Makati.

Any action around this area.

I posted a TR for the 24 H about 2 years ago, 05/17/2012, doubt much has changed since then, but it should answer most of your questions (oddly if you search for "24 H" it won't show up, try "vito cruz" instead.).

Take note it's on a one way street, so if coming from the airport on the Luzon Expwy, then after turning right onto the Vito Cruz Ext (Zobel Roxas St on Google Maps) you have to go to the 5 way intersection (traffic light / Petron or Shell gas station on corner) and make a hard turn to the right; then one long block, left on Dungon and then to the hotel at end (across Ocampo -look at Google maps and you'll see what I mean). In addition, note also that many of the smaller side streets around the hotel are gated off at night (from about 10 pm to 5 am if I recall), so if a taxi driver wants to take a "shortcut" don't let him; just inform him there's a barangay curfew and to stick to the main streets.

I suggest you print out a map before you go as many taxi drivers may not know the hotel.

AV.But I still find Great Eastern Makati, if you ignore the facts that 1) the bed sheets look tired and like never been washed 2) that they charge for use of tooth brush and slipper. And 3) last visit the TV reception was horrible for me to find out the TV antenna cable was broken minus a proper connector and after few visits by the technician who couldn't rustle up a connector for the cable, and then the TV remote didn't work all my visits.

The good things going in my favour is their decent room service menu and the Venue Mall across the road.

All else sucks though.

Makati prime tower?

I spent one sleepless night there when I felt the bed sheets looked like burnt and 99% bug filled, I slept in the sofa and move out.

Ah, the toilet flush didn't work in the first room and in the replacement room.

Great Eastern is heaven compared to Makati Prime tower.

Also, any suggestions about where to get P4P girls nearby?I can now report it seems fine. Just walk straight through to the lifts, don't pause or look like you have any concern. Nobody's questioned us.

Other than that, about 4500 p / night. OK, but nothing special. Unreliable wifi. Miles from any action.

Have RTFF and used advanced search but could find no details on this hotel in Makati. I spotted it last time when I stayed at the Antel Spa hotel and having looked it up on Tripadvisor, it looks a lot better in terms of space and quality.

Anyone have any experience with it?

As no one seems to have reported on this, as I'm staying here I should.

Nice hotel apartments on Salamanca near A. Venue mall, great little bar / restaurant in the lobby, apartments an ok size and well furnished. Was told I need to register outside guests but went straight to the elevator with my afternoon guest.

Couple of minor issues, the traffic noise is pretty loud even on the 18th floor and there's a damn rooster somewhere near the hotel I can hear at 4 am. Asshole. So far so good though, would recommend as location is great.

Hi guys,

I know for mongers Tune hotel is first in line in the budget of USD 50. I have got rates for 2 more hotels with the same rates. I need your opinion as to which among these below 2 hotels is better value for money in terms of property, wifi connectivity, location for mongering, service and hassle free in taking girls to the rooms. I know both these properties don't have safe in the room, but they assuare that my belongs will be safe in the lobby locker.

1. Citadel Inn hotel.

2. Durban hotel.

Reccomentation for any other hotel within the same criteria is also welcome.

ThanksTune Hotel Makati (buy via hotel.com or agoda) will always be my choice.
Never been in Durban, but being in Citadel and really did not liked it.

As you know, Tune has in room safe, zero hassle for girls back, great wifi, new and very clean and even cheaper than the one you mentioned.

Very basic rooms, with not so big space available, but bed is good.

It is always my choice everywhere they have a branch (so far I was being in their Makati, Ermita, Angeles, Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro branches here in the Philippines).

ThanksI don't know about Durban. Citadel is an old hotel and not nice. The elevators are bad and the pool is ancient. It is a hassle to store belongings in the safe they have behind the front desk. Tune is much better. Citadel is in a better location as the nightly show is out the front door while you have to walk 5 minutes from Tune. The guards at Citadel will stop every girl you bring back and they all need I'd to enter. The Tune will do this if you have a massage girl etc. Enter with you. But if you enter with a girl in street clothes, you can walk right past the security. So the best bang for the buck is Tune. It is new and Citadel is old.

There is a wealth of information in the Philippines thread that can answer every question you asked. There is a thing called 'give and take' which tends to work the 'you give first before you take' way. Many including myself (Westie is another) has written about this as RTFF is usually the way to go first then add you two cents with questions.

I see you posted another question on the India board which is heavily moderated and has lots of warning banners about asking questions and not really giving.

Also in the UAE these posted are called 'manager' (and to find out why that term is used please RTFF on the UAE thread).

Good luck with the RTFF as you will find all the answers. I did but took me a few minutes of my time.

Why would you want Russians or Europeans in the GFE Capital of the world? Go to Eastern Europe for that. After your 1st visit you will understand.

Recently stayed here about two weeks. A local host paid for me but recent Agoda prices were about $48 plus tax and service charge, and this seemed to have been discounted from previous prices. I was told it is owned by nearby Emilio Aguinaldo College, and given the limited customers I would say the college is heavily subsidizing it. It's on General Luna Ave. Near corner of UN Avenue and Taft. Agoda's 4-star rating is probably too kind. Was once a nice hotel but now a little worn. Staff were friendly, accommodating, and prompt. Reception is on 9th floor with parking garage from floors 2 through 7. So a short walk of shame past security and elevator operators, but not past reception. WiFi was free but not always dependable. Mattress was a firm king-size and the room and storage were fairly spacious. Bathroom done in marble was a little worn but had ample and easily-controlled hot and cold water. Strong aircon and good-sized TV with full cable listings. I had a good view from the 14th floor toward Ermita, Manila Bay, Rizal Park, and Intramuros. Decent pool, about 18 by 8 meters and 1. 25 meters deep, on the 9th floor. Entrance to the pool is right beside hotel registration, so might be a problem walking a "guest" past reception to the pool.

ATM, two convenience stores, generic pharmacy, internet cafe, numerous fast food places, Save More super market, and LRT station nearby. Nearest nicer eateries are a ten minute walk to Robinson's Place Mall. Sightseeing at Paco Park, Rizal Park, and Intramuros nearby, but Ermita mongering joints (LAC, Amazonia, G-Point, etc.) are a long walk or short taxi ride.

Advantages: near LRT station, safe area with minimal begging, comfortable room and bathroom, ample storage and comfortable mattress.

Disadvantages: Nicer eateries not nearby, inconsistent WiFi, some distance from mongering (but easily handled with a 5-10 minute taxi ride).

The gentleman is going to Manila, and he wants to know about caucasian escorts. He's not going to Moscow. So don't be snooty. I saw a news article some months ago about a brothel of such escorts in Metro Manila being "rescued". East European or Russian, I forget the details. They held employment visas for another line of work. So I suppose you can find if you ask around. Ask at EDSA bars, or the Heritage male staff, or taxi drivers. But it's not like Bangkok for easy availability. See stickman.com, the most recent post, for a photo of Russian go-go dancers in BKK. Not attractive in my eyes.

I cannot imagine why anyone would nowadays see this place as a destination. I note that WC says he was there 4 years ago. That's a long time ago.

I have been there twice in the past 5 months to attend functions for Emilio Aguinaldo College which is also the host college for the Manila Bulletin's cadet reporter training courses. As SK says. Pearl Manila is run by the College and they use it for their HRM students for on the job training (OJT). From what I saw of the facilities and food, it is grossly run down, and I cannot see how E. Aguinaldo College will have much cash to renovate or upgrade.

I also think you would not feel comfortable as you would attract a lot of attention if you brought a succession of girls to your room as it is essentially a student training establishment. If you stayed with one woman it would probably not be significant.

There has to be better places to stay in better locales too. Always takes me ages to get there in traffic. JMHO.

There has to be better places to stay in better locales too. Always takes me ages to get there in traffic. JMHO.For somebody whose primary business interactions are near the LRT line and is comfortable riding the LRT, traffic is no problem getting to and from Pearl Manila. Similarly, getting to Ayala Station area on the MRT line requires a fairly easy connection at Taft and EDSA, as long as you don't get on an MRT train being pushed by another train. On the MRT ticket purchasing lines can get very long, so always plan to buy a continuous ride ticket or get the return ticket as soon as you arrive if the ticket line is relatively short.

Similarly, taking the LRT to Roosevelt station in Munoz puts you within quick striking distance of many places in Quezon City. In two weeks time I rode trains to Quezon City twice, to Monumento six or eight times, to southern Malate area six or eight times, and to Ayala Station in Makati twice. I rode on both crowded and uncrowded trains, but I never encountered a train that didn't have enough room for me to board. I have gotten comfortable with the close quarters and get some quiet satisfaction out of getting to meeting places quicker than other people in taxis stuck in traffic.

The Pearl Manila is a reasonable place to stay for somebody without a variety of female guests, who may want to take in the sites around Rizal Park and Intramuros (with or without guest), and who doesn't have a bottomless expense account or income. It is simple and well-worn but everything is still serviceable aside from slow elevators. Breakfast is built into the price but nothing to brag about.

The elevator operators, some of whom may be students, do not work after 11 pm. So the only person who sees what guest (s) you bring in after 11 are security guards. I don't believe they're students. It is not as close to the Ermita redlight district as other mongering hotels that get mentioned in this thread, but if you can put up with a 75 peso taxi ride, it looks a lot safer around the Pearl Manila than in the Ermita mongering hotel district.

Economists like to say that there's no accounting for taste, but I think most of what they regard as taste is actually differences in decision criteria. Since the criteria people have for hotels are likely to vary considerably, I think it's useful to leave questions of criteria open to the consumers of hotels. The Pearl Manila is obviously not a hotel for everybody.

Was at Walter Mart today and saw a banner in front of the Eurotel trumpeting p799 dual occupancy - nothing about restricted to locals on it. I can't speak for the rooms but the location is great. It's beside the skyway so getting to / from NAIA's T3 is a breeze. It's at the corner of Arnaiz (Pasay Rd) and Chino Roces (Pasong Tamo) so you can grab a p8 jeep (look for Pasay Rd on it) on Arnaiz that will take you to the Landmark and Greenbelt Mall (Havana Cafe). For you freely spending millionaires a taxi ought to cost p50-60. It's also close to Osmena highway (South Luzon highway/SLEX) so getting to/from Malate/Ermita shouldn't be much of a hassle (yes, there's construction on the highway). A decent place for those who prefer Makati and want to save a bit of cash.

I spend a little more, usually around 120/ night and stay at the Crowne plaza. Connected to galleria mall, next to holiday inn. At EDSA and Ortegas. Staff loves to bring girls up to your room just tell them when they are coming. Or ask them to bring a girl up. Tell them your size shape age skin tone. Tip them a bit, they will help you even. Very clean, quiet, and easy. Especially with the connected Robinsons galleria mall. You'll see.

Hi Guys, has anyone stayed here? I went back 10 pages and didn't see any reports on it. I'll be staying there in November for a conference. Then off to Cebu, Dumaguete and AC. Thanks for any replies.DC, check out "Harrison Plaza Action," which is maintained by one of the board's regulars, down in the blogs section. Since Century Park is next to HP, it is featured in a number of FRs there.

It is a nice hotel though getting a little long in the tooth. It's often priced more competitively than other 5-star hotels, especially by comparison to Makati. This may suggest that consumers know what they're getting for their money--and that it's in a less desirable location.

One of the regular board contributors recently pointed out to me that there's a sign inside Century Park that says "no guests allowed after 10 pm. " It's hard to know exactly what they mean by this and how diligently they enforce it. I suggested to him that entering at the lower entrance facing Harrison Plaza; a few well-placed tips in advance with doormen and security at this door; if necessary, providing a ruse that you and your companion are going to the lower-level lounge café or KTV; and then slipping circuitously in behind the escalator to the elevators that go all the way to this lower floor, ought to solve the problem in case things get sticky. By all means scope out the location of elevators, escalator, and clubs before you go out hunting.

BTW, the hotel and the property underneath it are owned by Lucio Tan, owner of Philippine Airlines. It was formerly a Sheraton Hotel, and there's an interesting back story that may illustrate how business among the Philippines' political leaders and powerful families is carried out—during the Marcos regime and even up to the present:

Thanks for any replies.Additional tip. The regular "Superior" rooms are fairly nice, but a bit old and run down. However, they have a grouping of "New Deluxe" rooms that are about $20-25 more per night that have been recently renovated, and much nicer.

One thing I like about the Century Park is the pool area. There's a hot whirlpool, and two big pools, one being a pool for swimming laps, and the other for just fooling around, which has a deep end about 12 feet deep. Although there are much more luxurious hotels out there, the CP is offered on Agoda and other sites at bargain rates.

It is a nice hotel though getting a little long in the tooth. By all means scope out the location of elevators, escalator, and clubs before you go out hunting.Oh good to know, thanks, Skip. I would raise holy hell if I couldn't bring any babes to my room.

Additional tip. There's a hot whirlpool, and two big pools, one being a pool for swimming laps, and the other for just fooling around, RG.Thanks, Radical. Good to know. Ya, I reserved through agoda. I think it was around $100/ night. Lucky for me the university will reimburse me for it.

You'll see.

PM.Good to know, I am booked in there next week for a couple nights.

Will check out the action. Would the mall spot be active on Sunday late afternoon / early evening or is it a night spot only?

A decent place for those who prefer Makati and want to save a bit of cash.Got to bge careful with these banners. I'm over in Ermita / Malate area for a few days. There are a few hotels with these kind of promo things up. When you check, its 12 hours, net of taxes etc etc. Agoda is pretty much my go to these days. Saves a lot of time & hassle. I spent one night at Tune in Ermita out of convenience. Its disorienting how identically laid out these Tune hotels rooms are. You wake up and you could be in Tune Angeles for all you know. Booking through agoda is very worthwhile for Tune. Way better than their rack rate. Best Western La Corona is nice for the price. Poor old City State is not too bad but its getting long in the tooth. Needs money spent on it soon. Las Palmas next to Robinsons is not bad value in a cheap 3 star hotel. Eurotel also next to Robinsons is ok if you really want to stay in a windowless hotel room (nudge nuge wink wink). The strrets around Ermita / Malate are not as bad as 5 years ago. Lots of touts about but they are passive whereas in the past they were disgusting arggressive things with hoards of street kids mobbing you. There are some banners up ehorting some kind of push to clean up the area but we all know how long _that_ lasts in PI. At present it seems fairly safe to walk the streets at night as long as you observe normal sensible behavior.

Obviously some of the more pessimistic reports may be from newbs experiencing Ermita for the first time. It is after all a bit of shock the first time. I sometimes see news stories and off hand remarks from locals suggesting that Erap has been doing some things right in Manila. His record as mayor in San Juan was good, although that period was marked by more reliance on "good governance" advisers than his later time as VP and President. He's now in his late 70's, so maybe he's turned a favorable corner. Unfortunately, it takes much more than a single progressive leader to turn the tide on all the Philippines' problems.

Yes there are people sleeping on the streets. I'd say there are 5 times as many touts but the are easily ignored now & locals actually stop to buy some of their shit. Tablets (electronic), umbrellas with 100% markup from what you buy in Robinson's supermarket (LOL), shoes, sunglasses etc as well as Viagra / Cialis / women (The finding of CASA's has been documented here by others so no need to repeat, just to say plenty of touts offering them).

Many of the 2 & 3 star hotels in the area are awful but the handful I mentioned are OK. In addition Rothman Hotel on Adriatico has seen maintenance & I now rate it as good value for people on a budget or just needing a cheap getaway. Their standard 28 sq meter rooms are really spacious compared to anything else in that price range.

For the price their 28 sq m rooms with breakfast (on agoda) are good value now.

I've lost the price out of my head & the agoda voucher does not show it. It will show up on my cc transaction record in a day or two. I do remember it was lowest of any nearby hotels.

http://www.rothmanhotel.com/index.phpx and i have both done our part to undermine the secret in the last couple years. the passageway is a good thing because it's a hassle-free way to escort a companion coming from la cafe back to rothman. coming back from lac you can walk on pedro gil in front of the hyatt casino, take a quick right on mabini, walk in front of las palmas and executive plaza, scoot in through the driveway under riviera mansion, make your way diagonally through the courtyard that's common to five "sister" hotels, come out through a similar driveway under rothman, and you're at the adriatico entrance to rothman. this route avoids touts, beggars, and a strong smell of [CodeWord109] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord109) that seem to accumulate on the south side of pedro gil between mabini and adriatico. the only business facing pedro gil in that block is palm plaza hotel, so more than half the block is the blank wall forming the side of las palmas, which seems to attract all the aforementioned residue.

i scooped these two photos from foreign visitors who deposited them on google earth. thanks guys. if you use rothman, in daylight check out the driveway under the hotel, which is clearly visible in the photo right beside the front entrance. proceed through the courtyard to the riviera driveway that opens out onto mabini street. the second photo, which shows the riviera, executive plaza, the 7-11, and las palmas, is about eight years old. but to my knowledge all these businesses are still in tact.

http://www.rothmanhotel.com/index.phpChecked my CC. I paid P2200.00 2 persons including breakfast (including all taxes). For me the room size & included toiletries puts it ahead of others. Good strong hot showers. Elevator works fine but of course during busy periods you will need to be patient.

There are other decent 3 star hotels in the area, just thought I'd mention that this one has improved.

Is it just me or have hotel reception staff improved here in PI?

Check in / out times are fast & requests are quickly honoured without fuss. I asked Rothman for a late checkout & they shyly asked me if P100 charge was 'OK to you sir'. Yeah I think I can afford 2 bucks sweety LOL. Recently I needed a quick venue for an online cutie, I used my phone to book a room at Grand Prix via agoda. Walked in at 11 am & before I could ask they just registered me & gave a room key. No extra charge, no fuss. BTW Grand Prix is like a cheap version of a Tune, OK but there are nicer places for same money.

as a small sign of respect, if we have to walk more than a block in this area i will take the lady of the moment in a pedicab or taxi. some say no need but most appreciate the small sign of respect.

i never skulk into my accommodation with women, i make a point of holding hands with the girl, smiling & greeting the door staff & reception with direct eye contact. they get the message.

Slipping a tip to the doorman before needing to tip goes a long way. I also find out who is responsible for housekeeping and slip them something. When I call to have my room freshened up. It goes so smoothly and quickly. One maid asked me for a quicky, she seemed to figure I must have something going for me. She became a regular. But then again that was too many years ago.

Appreciate goes a long way. Even thanking a girl for a wonderful time ends up paying dividends. Smiles costs nothing.

Happy Hunting FRED.

av.mission impossible? skulking? is it skulking to avoid a street block that reeks of [CodeWord109] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord109)? and even assuming the touts' behaviors have improved, wouldn't we want to undertake a route that is clear of touts and beggars? the taxi or pedicab is a nice gesture, but the walk from lac to the passageway under riviera mansion is 2 1/2 blocks. even in heels that's not too overwhelming, and many of the girls carry a second set of shoes in their purses--specifically because they've anticipated walking to a hotel and not looking too wh--ish when they step into a hotel lobby. i've never heard any filipinas complain about having to walk much longer distances inside robinson's place or mall of asia, even when it sometimes involves climbing stairs.

also, since the only people we encounter in the hotel courtyard are employees of the five hotels, there's no reason not to hold the girl's hand when walking through the courtyard. the employees are accustomed to seeing it, and probably a lot of the mongers enjoy it as well. i always did. ditto smiling at the rothman doorman and making eye contact: nothing to preclude it that i know of by walking through the courtyard passageway. some hotel staff might even be impressed to know that you're familiar with the courtyard passageway. oh yeah, sometimes the girls are impressed that you know your way around too.

sorry, but i'm just not picking up on the skulking part.

And AV in case you've forgotten the elevator is right in front of the reception desk. I haven't been a patron in several years, but my experience in the past was that the doorman (by whatever title) is right in front of the elevator. And he would check IDs and call when a lady leaves or returns. I once had a lady at Rothman who, after an initial midnight bout of in-out-in-out, insisted she needed to travel to Cubao because she was up against a deadline for a 5-6 debt to retrieve a cell phone. (For newbies a 5-6 loan is an informal arrangement in which a Filipino hocks something of value for a loan, and then has a deadline to repay at a 6 to 5 ratio for the amount loaned when the item was hocked.) I didn't believe her, but since she'd agreed to an LT, I gave her the ST component of the promised exchange, and away she went.

I assumed I'd never see her again. The doorman called up when she left to make sure I knew she was leaving. I assured him it was okay. About three hours after I fell sound asleep the doorman called again to say she was back again and wanted to come up to my room. I was amazed but told him to let her proceed. She arrived back in my room, showed me the cell phone she had retrieved and then cuddled against me and fell asleep. It's amazing she returned for the small additional value between the ST and LT prices. We repeated our carnal exchange a few hours later. When I escorted her down to the lobby the doorman returned her ID. As anal retentive as this sounds it's good protection against being ripped off by the girl.

I took Lisa one more time out of LAC but eventually concluded she was alcoholic and took more sexually than she gave. But the lesson about Rothman is etched in my memory.

Thanks Pippy, I never tried to go out nor enter thru the Rothman restaurant so I probably shouldn't have even mentioned it. I was mostly trying to give some kind of geographic landmarks for someone who might be reluctant to head down that alleyway which looks much like a dead end. I especially like skulking down this way when it's raining or when I'm in a hurry. From Rothman, you can almost stay dry and make it to the the sleazy 7-11 there between Exec and Las Palma.

My last night in Philippines I flew into Manila from Cebu and went to Rothman. They were fully booked. I rolled my suitcase thru the shortcut (skulking all the way) over to Exec, negotiated some kind of silly promo discount, and was comfortably lodged shortly after. Newcomer warning, it is more common for the Executive Inn to be fully booked and the Rothman to have rooms available. YMMV. X Man.

I don't trust my memory, so you shouldn't either. I seem to recall a fully booked Exec suggesting Rothman at some point. In fact, that may have been my first time there. As for Riviera, they claimed not to be connected to Rothman. Or maybe I have Exec and Riviera mixed up.

And then there is one of my favorite hotels a block or two north of that. Even has a pool. Also has a podium and security right next to the front door (like Rothman). Maybe AV can tell you the name of the hotel, he seems to have done his research in this area. X.

Stayed there a few nights.

Pros:

1. Super friendly staff. They even let me check in VERY early without any extra charge or hassle.

2. Room is ok. Very plain, but did the job.

3. Hotel restaurant was actually not half bad and priced fairly.

4. Close to Amazonia (maybe that's a con?) and MBC, just a couple blocks to walk.

5. Close to Robinson's.

6. Girl friendly (I booked a room for 2).

Cons:

1. Bathroom was old, small, and the shower was terrible.

2. No safe in the room.

3. They seemed to always be working on some other room's air con, but mine ok, so could be nothing.

I got an ok rate, so for the rate, I might stay there again, but it's nothing to get excited about.

I'm heading back to Manila end of this month for a few days and nights. I'm looking for a hotel that has a jacuzzi in the room. Anyone have any names to recommend me?I am a big fan of the in room jacuzzi. The only online booking site that I know of that has it as a filter option is wotif. I just had a look at it, and found the following hotels listed as having in room jacuzzi.

- Fraser Place Manila.

- Oakwood Premier Joy Nostalg Center Manila.

- Best Western Oxford Suites Makati.

I have never stayed at any of these places, so do not know anything about them.

If you try one of these or find one with in room let us know how it goes, I'll be trying to find something similar for my next trip to the phils.

Anyone have any names to recommend me?Some deluxe rooms at Sohotel in Malate have a jacuzzi. Don't know if p2100 is competitive with the other places mentioned. It's near Exclusiv and Zzyzx if nightclubs are your thing, and the Cowboy Grill for live music. Robinson's is about a 10-minute walk away; depending on traffic the jeep may be faster. I've never stayed there but a m8 does each time he visits Manila.

As there are cheaper options in that vicinity. The best Western is nice but not cheap, however if you keep an eye on Agoda they do have mid week promo's that go we'll below their rack rate. If you just need a bed & shower in a modern clean safe place then Hostellery is right around the corner from them.

There is even a Jollibee across the road for your dining pleasure.

Anyone have recent info on the Traders hotel? Last post of any detail was from 2008. If not, may take one for the team and report during my next trip. Previous post said there was a bar with take out in the basement. I'm guessing that's gone, but would be nice to know before booking.

FYI. I booked 6 nights at the Holiday Inn & Suites Makati. Total price is. $925.54. That includes the 22% tax and service charge. Following that, I have 4 nights at the Pan Pacific. Total cost was. $701.64. Ouch! Booked both through hotel.com. It's ok if the company pays, but if out of my own pocket, will have to go back to Las Palmas. Enjoy. Safety first.

As there are cheaper options in that vicinity. This is on P. Burgos in the heart of a grubby red light bar district. Unless they have suddenly spent money refurbishing it I would be careful if I were you. There are cheaper hotels in the same street & surrounding area but they are pretty grotty these days as they have never been maintained. Probably a hot sheet style hotel nearby might be better if you're on a tight budget.

If you are looking for a new hotel in Makati I stayed at the Tune Hotel just off P Burgos at the top of the hill this past August. Don't book through their site I think they charge for towels etc. Hotels.com it was $39 USD per night total and its very clean. The rooms are very small like a Microtel no desk no nothing but a queen bed that's all I need. There is a nice 24 hour sports bar attached. I actually stayed there twice that trip and they held my bags (2) for 10 days with no probs. I think there was supposed to be a fee but they forgot to charge me. I have had bags stowed in many hotels around manila with no probs ever. Before that I stayed at Casa Bocobo many times which I liked and before that Swagman (turned into a dump since the Chinese bought it) many more times both in ermita. I just got tired of all the bullshit in Ermita.

I used to stay in Makati up until about 5 years ago and I think I will return again. I just usually need a night or two there in between trips to the provinces or AC. I try not to have any free nights with no girls lined up but if any thing fell through, I'd rather be in Makati than Ermita. The bars in Ermita are crap and I only made 1 trip to LA Cafe or whatever its called and I wasn't impressed. That whole surrounding area feels very unsafe, I can't explain it, I'm just not comfortable. I never felt unsafe in Makati.

AV.Oxford Suites was very damp and musty when I stayed there last. And was the last time. But I have friends who always stay there who say the suites are OK the rest still the same.

Was in Burgos the other day and saw the City Garden Grand hotel on the opposite corner from St Giles. Looks clean and soft opening is PHP 3200 + Maybe I will try that next time.

FrankmenPeople looking for girls, money changers, drivers, good food, but I've never seen the request for connecting doors. What are these doors connecting? The building to another building? The building to the street? Perhaps connecting one hotel room to another?

Are you looking for connecting rooms? (This is what I guess you're looking for.)

FrankmenSt Giles has as I have requested and been given in the past. Fun weekends at the time LOL.

Many hotels will have but you must ask and request in advance. I did with St Giles when I booked online and then follow up with a phone call to make sure the request is noted and not "on availability" (which mean not sure or they will forget the request IMHO).

Hi Westcoast,

Agree I didn't post much in here in the past 3 years and fully understand the often RTTF.

Agreeable am I actually a beneficiary of your countless contribution which I regularly read.

Nevertheless there is no posting which I cam across that would give an indication of hotels in makati with room connecting doors.

If you check my posting history since 2011 (which isn't much) then you will see that I am trying to answer any question to which I know a reliable answer.

As of field reports; most of the posting are about FL's which I consume with joy, however I for myself don't get the chance in Singapore too often, no it's not because of missing FL's it's more the guardian around who prevents me from taking part.

I will be in Manila for 4 days and hope to be able to take samples from there which I will gladly contribute. The comment of worth to report, is more related to my last year visit, which was just 1 night and left a bad taste of phill.

What happened was that I followed some of the leads I gathered here and went to a nice place with nice girls, but they new I was unfamiliar with Phil and upon asking for a price, they stated 100 us each.

Of course I was aware that this is overpriced and I wouldn't pay that, so I refused and the price dropped.

Now the thing about me is that I am willing to pay an honest price, but under no circumstances do I negotiate with someone that is trying to rip me off.

Having said that, the price drooped to 1000 peso which I still decline as it is my principle not to engage with rip offs.

Hope you understand that there is a difference to me for a reasonable negotiation versus a negotiation that starts as a rip off attempt.

So this time I hope to find a nice place, with nice girls AND no rip off policy.

Again, I really like all your contributions and pictures, I enjoy them a lot and hope of being able to add some as well.

Appreciate any advise you would share to find such place, however having done my homework so I won't ask this question.

Have fun.

Frankmen

Who can blame a lady there for trying to get the most money she can for sharing her body? I'm sure there are men who foolishly pay $100 or more for some fun times with those ladies, and still walk away smiling. I certainly wouldn't pay such an amount, which is outrageous given the market value of P4 P sex in the Philippines, but I'm not offended. If she subsequently offers 1000 pesos, then if you otherwise like the girl, go for it. There's nothing wrong with trying to get top-dollar (or top-peso) for any goods or services, so long as she's up front about it. After all, most of us aren't communists. LOL.

RG.There is something like business ethic, and yeah, maybe I just am naive. But then, business ethic is common in Europe.

Living in Singapore since many years it makes me kind of proud to see the public reaction to the recent rip off scandal that a local merchant pulled of against some poor Vietnamese tourist.

Seems I am not alone in this world who has a sense for ethic.

What happened was that I followed some of the leads I gathered here and went to a nice place with nice girls, but they new I was unfamiliar with Phil In addition to negotiation, "Bola Bola" (white lies) is a way of life here. There's no harm in telling girls that you've been to the Phils many or at least few times before. That tends to let them know you're aware of how the game is played. In some of the bars I may admit that I've never been to that particular one before, but that I have some "poreigner" friends who live in the area who recommended it.

A FL may still quote a high price, but rarely do I ask how much they want. Mainly from RTFF I already know the market price, so I instead I tell them how much I will donate for their time. The majority accept my offer, which usually includes an added incentive for good service. If a FL does blurt out some outrageous price like 5 or 6 K for ST, then I ask them if their pussy is made of gold or tell them I could get 3, 4 or even 5 girls for that price. Most will counter with a more reasonable offer (or I tell them what I will donate) and if they're attitude is good then I'll accept. Some won't budge from the high price and that's often a good sign that they may not like you, but greed overcomes personal distaste and for a high price they'd be willing to go with you; I tell those girls to p*ss off.

In a very popular work of fiction it is said: "The meek shall inherit the earth". That may or may not be true, only time will tell, but a meek person in the Phils will get eaten alive. You're the one with the blue notes in your pocket therefore you dictate the terms. If she walks, move on to the next one; it's not like there's a shortage of available pussy here. Also, think with your big head and not the little one and you'll do fine.

.....o, think with your big head and not the little one and you'll do fine.Fully agree Jaeger with all you said / wrote, that's why I don't negotiate with attempted rip-off's.

I don't want give them the benefit of any business after an attempt.

Again, nothing wrong with negotiation in general but everything has an acceptable bandwidth.

And an attempted rip-off shows how much a merchant is valuing his customer.

Having said that: racial guy, I don't see why it is communism to expect fair trade, and being respected for what I am, a potential customer who is willing to pay a reasonable price.

I just hope your not a sales person of any kind, that makes a ton of money by screwing your clients.

But then. You do have a point,. Its culture I suppose, and I am from a culture where trust and honesty is an important factor in business. But just because "I feel this way", does not make it anywhere or anyhow a law for everyone.

So everyone is free of doing their businesses in any way they want, and I make my own choices of business partners.

And after all, I like to add that I didn't blamed the girls, I just decided not doing any business with them regardless of the later drop. Guess that called freedom of choice, which is so not communistic.

Anyway; now having posted in two days more than I have posted in the last year, still don't know a hotel in Makati with room connecting doors.

Have fun,

Having said that, the price drooped to 1000 peso which I still decline as it is my principle not to engage with rip offs. FrankmenWell I am sure you will have a blast in phils if you decline 1000 piso offers (ironi). Hell man, like Pip I never negotiate, I even never tell upfront what I give. For me it is like I enjoy the motivation. Many of the girls expect something I am sure but as I close down girls stating price early in our communication most of the girls I meet come without knowing I give them something. I allways do. 2-3000 piso. They pleasure me and I pleasure them. It is realy just a game for me even if I don't deal with BG. I know from reading and on occation running into one or two BG that they appreciate knowing atleast come si come sa what they can get out of it. I just tell them "no worries you will be happy when you leave".

But 1 k then you will have a bit trouble but ofcourse you can be lucky. I would recommend datingsites or facebook for hookups bcs no pricing in general are stated atleast from the way I communicate with my objects.

Good luck.

For the connectiondoors you can stay at Ascott in room 1007,1107 and up to 2607 and you will have a 3 bdr apt with separated doors (it is like room nr 1006 and 1007 with a small hallway in between). Will run you 12-15 k a night.

So apologize for the confusion.

The 100 us was "each" for short time; I had selected 3 of them, and it goes without a saying that I had generously spend on any drink the entire group of girls + mama San and the old lady giving a massage, requested.

In Singapore will you get a decent girl for 100 us for 90 min /2 shots + room + CD.

The girls are mostly Thai, Vietnamese are going for less.

Now I admit that Phil is just an "idea" from reading the forum, the prices and comparing Singapore as a high cost place, did I feel it's over the top.

But then. You guys know the area and prices much better than I do.

So I take it that I may be too sensitive and having the wrong impression of a fair price in the Phill.

Something I will work on during my next visit.

I am sure once I post a field report I will be blamed to spoil the market price.

For that matter I take the 3.000 peso as the regular price for a regular girl for short time.

I think if one has some wants beyond oral and vaginal these ought to discussed upfront. It betters your likelihood of having the experience you want. And importantly it's fair to the girl. If she doesn't know that you're expecting to put it in her butt, then she needs to suck you off, and you finish up with a showering golden stream she is being abused. Not by the act(s), but by the guy's assumption that this is part of the deal.

I had a very positive experience staying at the Fersal Bel-Air in Makati. This may be an option for the budget traveler at approx $50/ night. The room was small, but clean and modern. Only a two block walk to Burgos St. The front desk handled the flow of ladies in a professional and helpful way. Free breakfast for two, which I enjoyed with my spend-the-nights.

Gentlemen,

I have just gotten back home after an 11 day trip to the Philippines. Still getting settled in, just wanted to start with a review of The Brickstone Hotel, located right NEXT DOOR to LA Café. Please see my post from last year-.

http://www.internationalsexguide.info/forum/showthread.php?2505-Manila-Hotels&p=1425393&viewfull=1#post1425393.

Price was 1500 Pesos per night.

This turned out really, really well for me as a short time hotel while in transit from AC to MNL via Swagman's "Fly the Bus". My flight back to the US was at about midnight, so I decided to leave AC on the Noon shuttle. The trip from AC to Swagman in Malate was about 2 hours on a Sunday afternoon. Once at Swagman's, I transferred to a cab to the Brickstone hotel, which is just a few blocks away.

The "room" was a small 2 room suite with the bedroom\bath separate from the kitchen\fridge\sitting area. The view from my room was pretty good. Great view of Manila Bay and the southern tip of the American embassy. Air cond was great. Beds were really good with just the right amount of bounce for a good power fuck. Bathroom was tiny. In Room Safe.

I probably would not want to stay at the Brickstone for longer than a day or two. Keeping in mind that it is a Short time hotel, I would want something a little better for longer stays. Also, I don't know if they take reservations, and they still don't have an internet presence to my knowledge. Just in case they are full, it is best to have a "plan be" such as Amazonia or Cherry Blossom or any of the dozen or so nearby hotels.

Lastly, I wouldn't recommend letting the street people see you going into the Brickstone hand in hand with a female. Best to just avoid problems and walk solo like a "man on a mission" for the 30 yard walk from the front door of LA to the Brickstone. Have her meet you in the lobby.

Fly under the radar when in the Philippines. Peace.

I stayed there sight unseen on my first trip to the Philippines. I didn't even know about Burgos. I reserved because it is owned by the same group who own the Elizabeth Hotel in Cebu. I had stayed in the Elizabeth before and assumed they would be similar quality. In comparison what I felt I got was a two inch rubber lined foam mattress. I went outside after dark. It is on a poorly lit side street and as soon as I went outside I was surrounded by ladyboys and hookers all the way to the main road. It was more than my brain could handle on my first trip. LOL. I did explore Burgos but was crapping myself the whole time. I lasted one night and checked back into the Dusit.

Granted it was my first exposure ever to something like that and in hind sight really pretty funny. Talk about information overload. Non the less I would not stay there again.

Admittedly it is a dark street when you exit the building at night. But having stayed there a few months ago I didn't see any street girls or LB (or steet begging kids). Exiting the building and turning left, going one block is a large, new mall (clean / upscale). Exiting Fersal and walking straight (across the street) and continuing 2 blocks gets you to A-Venue. Turning right from the front door gets you to Makati Ave (yap, its a dark walk up the street to Makati ave). Ama, one knows the large difference between the Fersal (an average, p2500 mid-range hotel) and the Dusit, yes? I found the Fersal hotel nice enough (clean, security at the door taking lady's I'd, free set breakfast). But you're right, the location in that dark area looks bad.

Keep in mind it was my first trip. Everything in my mind was exaggerated. I was wide eyed no matter where I went on that trip. It was the walk to Makati Ave that is buried in my mind. Yes there is a large difference between the Dusit and the Fersal, and I scurried back to my comfort zone of the Dusit. Since that trip I I have balanced my perspective and have not stayed at the Dusit again. My travel agent here is a Filipino businessman and personal friend, and had arranged a promo rate at the Dusit suggesting I stay there until I start to get more comfortable. As I recall the rate he arranged was also 2,500 pesos a night including a great breakfast smorgasbord.

Although I have never been into bar girls, on part of my last trip I stayed at the Howzat on the other side of Burgos. I think it was about 1,400 pesos a night for the larger bedroom on the main floor and had everything I wanted such as a mini fridge, wifi, cable tv, and an in room safe, and air conditioning. Plus it has the great sports bar attached to it with very good food. In fact I had brought some large three in thick prime rib steaks from Canada to show the ladies the difference between their beef and ours. For 100 pesos the cook agreed to cook it on their bbq for myself and my date. We cut it carefully on a separate plate. What we could not eat we gave to our waitress to take home. She said she did not like beef, but when we saw her the next day she said how good it was and asked me if I was sure it was beef.

Stayed at the Tune hotel in Makati recently, a couple blocks from P. Burgos street, and thought I would post a brief review with pics.

The hotel is definitely no-frills, but quite functional for our hobby.

The good:

- Close to the action.

- Relatively inexpensive (typically about $35/ night but have seen it as low as $25 with advance booking).

- Decent bed.

- Working shower with plenty of hot water and good pressure.

- Good easy to use safe.

- Competent staff.

The bad:

- No closet. Only storage was under the nightstands.

- A bit cramped.

- 2 towels is all you get. Don't get too wet.

The odd:

- Weird fold down desk. Looks like something that belongs in a cruise ship cabin vs. A hotel room. But it was well placed next to an electrical socket with adapters for most plug types. You have to sit on the bed to use it, but in the end I kind of liked it.

- Lips instead of a toilet. Oh wait, that was the girl I brought into the room that wanted me to use her mouth as a urinal ;)

Will I stay Tune'd? If I am traveling light, yes. But this is not a hotel I would stay in if I had any luggage that would not fit as airplane carry on.

The bad thing is it's so freaky to wake up after a heavy night & experience that moment of panic thinking 'shit what city is this?' LOL!

For those of you who might like the Marco polo brand, a new MP has opened in Ortigas.

It is a top class 5 star place with magnificent rooms and a Skyline bar on the 45th floor that has fantastic views.

It also has a Club floor so if you have a Club membership then you get the free booze and snacks which the other MPs in Cebu and Davao provide.

Prices are around the 5800 - 6500 php per night.

I have seen the rooms and breakfast buffet but I have not stayed there (my condo is 5 minutes walk away), but it might appeal to the business travellers with expense accounts.

It is a hike away from Malate or Burgos Street but very central for girls living in QC or points north if you prefer using CL or dating / chat sites.

Metrowalk which is rapidly evolving into a potential little Havana is directly opposite although not so easy to reach by foot because of a major road to cross.

I am planning my annual Pilgrimage to PI and will be staying in Makati for 1 week in January. I usually stay in New World Makati. Love the location. Over the past few years the rates have really gone through the roof. DOES ANYBODY HAVE A CORPORATE OR DISCOUNT CODE for the New World or any other higher end hotel in the Greenbelt area? If so, I would appreciate if you could PM me the details. Thanks.

The quality of their 'soft opening' did not convince me at all. So please get your own impressions before any booking. At this price level I would prefer a hotel, where the paint has dried and the staff has been trained well.

Myself I have not decided yet where to go in Manila for my very first trip to the Philippines. Would like to have a nice view over the harbour and / or Manila Bay, because I have not seen any Ocean since years.

Hello dear friends,

I will stay as every couple years a few days in manila. I search for recomendations for following:

- 80 to 200 $, I enjoy Suites, but its not a must.

- I have 3 nights, beside of some business meetings I want to party. So some night clubs near by would be a plus.

- I enjoy Casino as well, mostly going for blackjack beside of poker, but poker needs more attention, so I avoid it for casual fun.

I aimed until now for the Marriot, everything there it seems. A visit in Solitaire seems a must, but the hotel is somewhat at a isolated location. So I would prefer to not stay there.

And yes, it should be girl friendly.

Any recommendations for the hotel or must visit places? I do not live on budget, it could be anything, including cheap to expensive party grounds.

What about Christmas days? If I'm there in this time period, must I expect any limitiations? Or should I aim for the days between Christmas and new year?

Cheers,

Payu

That's what soft openings are for Ganesha.

I have been inside 4 times now, and the quality of everything is excellent. A friend who stayed there recently and who has a World Club membership of MP hotels said it was excellent.

Sorry about the absence of majestic views of the stinking, polluted Manila Bay though. As AV says, by all means stay in Ermita / Malate or around MOA and get your views as desired.

HI, I'm making a late night arrival at MNL at 11:30 pm with a 9:30 am flight out next morning.

What do you experienced people reckon? Where should I stay?Make sure you know which terminal your flight is on. There are diffrences in international and domestic.

Been going to Manila for over 20 years and seen the demise of the old domestic teminal, the continued walking dead situation of NAIA etc.

Checked out of Makati hotel at 5 am for a 7 am flight the other day, accompanied by the previous nights lady. She had been sweet and hot and lived near airport so I said she could accompany me.

Taxi driver didn't seem to be the most alert specimen on earth but I was only going to airport and my fingers were re-exploring said lady so what could go wrong.

First problem, was that the guy went to EDSA despite me saying take skyway. And of course, at the very point where EDSA splits, (where it goes straight towards airport ramp and right to highway, there was garbage truck having crashed into a taxi. Result, at 5 am, a huge jam. Taxi driver bleated " trapic sir". I thought " oh fuck ".

After 35 minutes we had gotten past the obstruction and set sail to the airport. Was dark, I was a quite hungover and tired and was paying attention to said lady when I realised the guy is heading towards Terminal 3.

I asked him why. He said "PAL sir. ".

I replied that I had told him PAL international, terminal 2 but he had clearly not heard me say this 3 times, or was jealous that I had a girl with me who I had been playing with.

We go through the taxi stop and search, up the ramp, past the terminal, down the ramp, take the roundabout you turn by Remington hotel and head for terminal 2. Where of course, roadworks building a new skyway are taking place and theres only one, very slow lane in use. Its now 6. 25 and its getting to be " squeaky bum time ".

By 6. 35 , I arrived, no check in lines, immigration was a breeze, security almost non existent and by 6. 50 I'm sitting in my seat. Thankfully my driver didn't ask for a tip.

Moral of story. Know your terminal numbers.

Know which PAL (international and domestic operate out of differing terminals) and make sure you have a taxi driver who knows both where hes going and that its the same place where you want to be going to.

Excellent story by Freebie. Just want to add that I've had a few early flights where the taxi drivers got creative. Very early flight, one aswhole taxi driver pulled off into the Cultural Center off of Roxas. I asked, "why.", he replied with a lie, "trappic". There was no traffic and I gave him a piece of my mind.

Mr. Trapic dropped me off at the wrong terminal. I guess he was happy. A few months later I spent a little extra and flew direct to Cebu. Do they have an equivalent to "pound wise, penny foolish?

Know which PAL (international and domestic operate out of differing terminals) and make sure you have a taxi driver who knows both where hes going and that its the same place where you want to be going to.Have also been dropped at the wrong terminal in the last year (have to take a new taxi back to the correct terminal), several times. I have developed a new technique: When I'm out of the taxi and have obtained my luggage from the driver, before paying him say: "Just you wait". Walk to the entrance (with luggage) and ask the security guard if my flight is departing this terminal. If affirmative, return to driver and pay him. If not, return to driver, note the meter amount, have him drive me to correct terminal, and give him the original meter amount.

Hard to believe a seasoned traveler like you would make such a simple mistake more than ONCE WC.

You cannot expect a taxi driver to know which terminal you will be leaving from, especially since PAL uses both Terminal 2 and 3, and the other international carriers are steadily transferring from Terminal 1 to 3. I travel often and I need to double check my ticket to be sure which terminal my flight is departing from.

If you told him clearly Terminal 1 and he went to T2 or T3 then I can understand your actions except that I find it amazing that you didn't notice that he was going to the wrong terminal (the routes are very different) way before you got there.

I think it is a bit much to penalize him if he took you to the wrong terminal because you weren't sure which terminal was the right one for you.

Going to the wrong terminal should never happen if you check your tickets and make it VERY CLEAR to the taxi driver which terminal you wish to go to. In all my years of living here and going to all 4 different terminals I have never been taken to the wrong one. The drivers know the difference if you are clear in your mind which is the right one.

Like RK, I've never been taken to the wrong terminal, and I use the airport once a week. Usually, I arrive in Manila on Tuesdays, but this week, due to the typhoon, I decided to come on Wednesday. After a routine flight, I exited terminal 3 to witness traffic gridlock of rather staggering proportions. The airport was not only jammed with automobiles, but none of them were moving at all. In my 11 years here, I'd never seen anything like it, and for five minutes I actually considered just getting the next plane back to Davao. The line for coupon taxis was huge, and there were no taxis in sight. I was offered a ride into town by two of the rent a car companies; one wanted Php1,700 and estimated that the ride would take 2 hours. Another wanted Php2. 700. I declined both offers.

Finally, I decided to go upstairs to the Arrivals area and found the situation to be slightly more fluid, which is to say that cars were moving 2-3 meters at a time. I had no problems getting a taxi. I immediately booted up WAZE on my iPhone and told the driver that we would follow the route recommended by the software. Though it took us 20-25 minutes to exit the airport millimeter by millimeter, once we got out, I got to the Fairmont via the skyway in about 25 minutes as the software routed us via back streets unknown to the driver who was rather amazed by the whole GPS concept.

I use WAZE daily when I'm here and find that it consistently saves me quite a bit of time. For those who, like me, must cope with the travails imposed by the mindless Manila traffic, I'd recommend using it and insisting that the driver follow its suggestions.

Yes, mea culpa to at least some degree. Literally I expect the front desk staff, the hotel security guy, and the hotel taxi driver cannot possibly ALL get it wrong, but on occasion they do. I tell the front desk the day prior that I want the hotel car to the airport, Cebu Pacific to Surigao. Upon checkout the front desk confirms that with me, and speaks to the door guy in tagalog. While waiting for the hotel car to pull up front, the door guy (whom I've tipped) confirms: "Sir, Cebu Pacific Airlines? To Surigao City?" Yes. He in turn speaks tagalog to the hotel driver. I hear the word "domestic" being spoken through the car window. On the road down Roxas, the driver confirms the same information with me. Yet, we somehow end up at the *wrong* terminal. How the f*ck did we end up at an International terminal? Yes, I failed to look on the ticket (lesson learned). Having traveled thru oodles of large / small airports in various countries, I just tell the hotel (or street taxi) driver what airline I want and where I'm going. "China Southern, Manila", and they take me there. In the same vein, I've also ended up at the domestic airport when telling both the door guy (who is hailing a street taxi) and the taxi driver: "Korean Airlines, International, going to South Korea". Noooo, I don't watch where the drivers turn of for this or that terminal (I'd rather push needles thru my testicles).

It has been widely publicised here in the press that air operators MUST show the airport of departure on their tickets because there is no longer any definitive rules for which aircraft carrier leaves from which terminal. The system is in a state of flux.

I just discovered that Cathay is now using T3 instead of T1 but only because it said so on my ticket. I actually called a travel company contact to confirm it was not an error on the ticket.

Take home lesson for all readers. Do your OWN homework on which terminal from which you will depart and DO NOT rely on desk clerks, hotel doormen or taxi drivers for advice because what was correct yesterday may not be right today.

Tell the driver which terminal to go to and DO NOT listen to anything he says to the contrary.

OK, Guys.

I really didn't know where to post this, but I figured that we have a lot of veterans that post in this forum, so I will try it here. Feel free to flame me if you wish to.

I really prefer sex with Filipinos because I just find them so much more passionate. I fly them into Singapore (SG) and to be honest, I haven't been to PHIL yet, but I'd say I have a moderate amount of experience with about a dozen Filipinos over the last few years.

I met a VN girl from HCMC, she is 26, about 40 kg (max). Brought her to SG (you can see her picture posted on the SG picture forum). She recently spent a week with me there and we had sex of course. While chatting with her today on skype, she started asking some "interesting" questions:

"Have you ever done sex w young Asian girls who don't have baby yet? Because the hole of Young person s beautiful than woman has baby. I want to ask my pussy w other Asian young girls are the same or different? My hole s bigger than them alot or not? " (pardon her poor English, she is getting better but still needs some work).

Now, I have to tell the board, the first time I fucked her, I was actually surprised. Her pussy was like many of the others I have dipped my dick into. Wet, tight but not "tighter" than what I am used to. She had sex with ONE other VN BF a couple years ago (I don't think she is lying).

So board. Have you found that smaller girls have tighter pussies? How about girls that have had kids versus those that have not. I am NOT talking about those huge US women with 12 kids (read octamom), but again, on the PHIL board, lots of small girls reported on here. So wanted to ask. I may ask Professor Westy for his opinion for sure.

By the way I told her that her pussy was nice and tight and I really enjoyed filling her up with my semen for a week. Hahahaha.

I thought I'd only enjoy Filipinos. But the Vn girls yum yum.

Yes it an Slippery, last week they caught a taxi driver who raped a UP student he picked up in the Fort area and some would not hesitate to kill you am sure.

If it was a T3 pick up and given GE's and my FRs on recent gridlock and lack of taxis at T3, something has to be done about the dearth of approved taxis there and removing the privateers. While I recognize that any driver can do this, the metered cabs etc may offer slightly more security to a visitor as these are 'approved' etc. Also knowing the route if you are not a first time visitor helps.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2014/11/19/uber-privacy-tracking/19285481/This IS an alarming development. Thus, it becomes a matter of record that you took an Uber ride to, say, LA Cafe or anywhere else that you might prefer to be private information. Cash transactions have one big advantage: PRIVACY.

Along with Solaire and Resorts World, they have worked out that hotels to attract tourists have to be close to the airport. The Hyatt (Malate) seemed to be busy. Not sure if I'll stay at the new Hyatt anymore as there isn't much around that area within walking distance.

The Hyatt (Malate) seemed to be busy. Not sure if I'll stay at the new Hyatt anymore as there isn't much around that area within walking distance. It depends if you want to hit the lower level girlie bars or the high end clubs that occur in Resort's World, Solaire and no doubt will be a feature of the new Hyatt and the new casino complex.

These high level developments attract the cream of the model-type girls and the show business starlets too, and some guys here on ISG can afford that scene.

It is, I agree, not within walking distance of EDSA IEC or Burgos etc, but some guys are going to enjoy having fun in this playground.

Oxford Suites was very damp and musty when I stayed there last. And was the last time. But I have friends who always stay there who say the suites are OK the rest still the same.

Was in Burgos the other day and saw the City Garden Grand hotel on the opposite corner from St Giles. Looks clean and soft opening is PHP 3200 + Maybe I will try that next time.WR, Did you ever try the City Garden Grand Hotel? I usually stay at the St Giles but it seems to be getting rundown and the breakfast gets worst every visit.

I have stayed at the Hotel Durban on Durban Street, which intersects with Burgos. It's just down the street from Dimples. Nice place with friendly and helpful staff. Prices range from $1700 to $2500 for their suite. This hotel has been renovated. They also have a pretty good breakfast in the small cafe adjacent to lobby. They do require an I'd for visitors. I know because one early morning, a girl appeared who I had met in Papillon earlier but did not have an I'd and was denied entry to my room. Otherwise, no problem.

I also visited a nearby hotel called the Clipper. They were full but prices were the same range as the Durban.

The St Giles is OK I don't think it is run down as stay a couple of days at most.

I never take breakfast there I go across the road to Team Insider or up the road to Handlebar or Howzat for a decent breakfast (and you can get an American breakfast there as well FN LOL).

Rates at the City Grand look good for now as promo but I checked web sites and found that calling the hotel was cheaper for me.

Have any of the high rollers on ISG visited this new entertainment venue yet?

It's situated south of the MOA and near Solaire resort in the big new entertainment Complex being built near Roxas Blvd and Aseana corner.

They are advertising heavily but seems it is targeted at the well-heeled set.

Just a quick note about Berjaya (same area in Makati as Giles and City Garden 1 and "grand" Nice room with a very comfy bed, but I will not stay there again.

I arrived late morning after a flight from Cebu. They processed me, took my money, gave me a receipt, and then said that check in was 2 pm, which was three hours later. That was disappointing. But then they offered to check me in early for a fee. Oh, so rooms were vacant, but I had to pay extra to get it. Wow. I could have gone elsewhere, should have!

I had a very early flight the next morning so it would have been nice if they had give me a discount for my early check out. I think I might have missed a free breakfast as well. LOL, I didn't ask for a discount. But then there was the cash deposit I had given. Counter staff insisted that I produce the receipt at 6 am. Before breakfast, before coffee. This forced me to open my suitcase right there in the lobby. Luckily, it was right on top.

Often when I hit the Internet, I get the Berjaya ad. I wouldn't have posted this, but they keep reminding me about my wonderful stay at their wonderful hotel. X.

. . . SNIP. . . It's good for you to post this here X.

That is just mean-spirited and a classic case of extremely poor customer service.

I would hope that the hotel GM doesn't know about this and you were the "victim" of a jumped-up little hero or heroine who wanted to show how big they were. I suggest you put a report on Trip Advisor about your experience because it sux big-time.

If it is general hotel policy then I would never suggest anyone stay there again.

I must say in all my years of travelling across the world it has never ever happened to me.

The staff do exactly what the book says and don't interpret for common sense. Recently in my home city I needed a day time hotel, similar story and they just let me go early as the room was available.

My Ph hotel checkin / out stories have included being charge P100 for a coffee sachet. I also always get amazed at the pre 'checkout' room check. I wonder what they actually do check? They never seem to notice all of the important things I leave behind.

I have NEVER been charged for early book-in IF the room is available.

I don't think there is any need to identify hotels that DO allow early check-in because virtually all of them usually do it if a room is available (except apparently, Berjaya).

The "rule" is there to cover the hotel in case there are no rooms available prior to the "official" check-in time of (usually) 2 pm and so the incoming guest cannot really complain because it is a universal understanding.

I like to end my trip with a couple of days in Makati (after a week or so in AC) - the accommodation, food and infrastructure are better. And it's a much shorter ride to the airport in the morning. My preference is always the Dusit Thani.

If you're willing to pay the premium associated with staying in a 4 star hotel, this is probably the best one (club rooms are especially great as they come with an awesome breakfast buffet and cocktail hour at the Penthouse lounge). Also, the restaurant on the ground floor (buffet) has some of the best food I've had in the PI (OK. I know that's a low bar, but really. It's top notch. Carving stations. Sushi, deserts, etc.) Man can't live on punani alone! Of course. The hotel is super girl-friendly and. Literally - across the street from the mall. The New World Makati is a solid alternative. It's located across the street from the Havana Cafe (and a Starbucks), so the convenience factor is there as well. I stayed at the Diamond several years ago, but this is not in Makati. And the neighborhood leaves a bit to be desired. The hotel was amazing, but I'm a bit of a snob (sorry) - I like the "better" neighborhood. Hope this information is helpful. I do not own stock in any of the hotels listed above.Seems this post is better suited to the "Manila Hotels" thread so I moved it here.

Didn't you know there was a thread for this WW?

Hello folks,

I used to stay near Greenbelt in my past trips to Manila. This time, I want to experience a more authentic flavor of Phils according to the following guidelines:

1. Walking distance to action (I found Cafe Havana in Makati producing absolutely no options for me for some reason).

2. High-end hotel, suite with nice bathroom, preferably with jacuzzi (I like to offer the ladies jacuzzi with wine on the first date, ha-ha).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! A.

But it will set you back around 50 k per night. No jacuzzi though. I used it to throw a nice pinay I know a bd party to her and her friends some time back. Comes with a butler as well. I guess he has seen it all so no worries. If you use btl service (premium booze) you can have a mobile bar to your room and get assistance from bartenders as well.

I stayed only one night last year and I thought it was good value. I didn't see a cockroach. Some people get freaked out by the sight of a bug or two. I personally wouldn't want to stay in that area for six days, but you haven't really told us anything about your intentions, so I'll leave it at that.

There are numerous pages of FR's regarding this hotel (see Wazoo's report from 2013, #1822 I think). It is very difficult to tell you what would be 'suitable', as you don't give your expectations about what you are looking for. It's a 3-4 star place on the 5-star rating system (thinking of Shang or Dusit as a 5-star place).

It has a smallish lobby with two elevators. As soon as you come out of the Hotel, you are on the sidewalk of a busy street.

What is your budget? If you can afford to pay more (say US $100 or higher) stay somewhere else.

Has anyone here ever had anything stolen from an in-room safe at your hotel, or known anyone this happened to? I've heard some chatter of this occurring. I always bringing a significant amount of cash with me, and have usually used the in-room safe to secure it with no problems. But I've been considering whether I should, instead, secure it in the hotel's safe at the front desk.

RGHow many guys here have had something stolen out of their in-room safes? Raise your hands. Sure, it's something that could happen. But, the reality is that it's not something that's very likely to happen. It's never happened to me in decades of traveling all around the world and using in-room, hotel safes, and it's not likely to happen to you either. Stay in a reputable hotel and you should be just fine. After all, no legitimate hotel wants to develop a reputation of being a place of business where their guests can't even have faith in not getting ripped off right out of the safes in their rooms! If that happened, then word would surely get around, and the hotel would go out of business since nobody would want to stay there.

Bottom line, don't be paranoid. Use your in-room safe and enjoy your vacation! I mean, your plane could crash too right? But how likely is that to happen? The only time I have ever used the hotel safe at the front desk was right here in the good old USA because that particular hotel didn't have in-room safes. I decided to go ahead and book there though because of their front desk safes. So, I used the front desk. Otherwise, I have no qualms about using the in-roof safe at any reputable hotel. I've done it many times before all over the world, and I will do it again. I'm far more concerned about being accosted on the street (luckily that's never happened either) than I am about some hotel employee (or whoever) stealing something out of the safe in my room!

I have since the year of 1998 traveled approx 250 days a year in general around the globe. I have never ever experienced any wrongdoings with in room safes (nor front desk safes). It is a non existing problem. I guess you could be unlucky (really unlucky) but then you have to smarten up at not book shitty places. Words spread fast these days due to I e internet and no business could last very long being known "if you stay there you better expect your valuables being stolen".

I have been shitfaced many times and last but not least today this very fine morning I was waking up, having no idea where I was. Instantly I found out I was in BKK, my in room safe was wide open, the girl I barely remember from last night was gone but she did not took anything out of my safe (lets say I did have a nice amount of THB notes in the safe).

If you are paranoide enough you could make this an issue but to the normal traveler, like me, nothing is going to happen. If it did happen to you, check your bookings better next time. Have a safe trip.

I tried a search on the thread but nothing popped out.Although it may have been a couple years ago, X-Man reviewed it in this thread. I stayed in the Paco Park Hotel which is nearly next door, and after reading comments in various online reviews, I think Oasis is probably a slightly better choice. It is, as you note, relatively inexpensive. In the past, food in the restaurant at Oasis has been reviewed as pretty decent. The pool at Oasis, although not huge, is better than at Paco Park. Both are girl friendly. Look in this thread in February or March 2014 for my review of Paco Park. I provided a fair amount of information about the location.

Some may consider location a problem, since it is not particularly close to major mongering destinations. It is a five to ten minute taxi ride from the Ermita freelance bars such as LA Cafe, Amazonia, and G-Point. You could walk the distance in maybe 15 minutes, but do not expect the girls to walk this distance. The high points for location are that it is quiet and free of beggars, has ample taxi and trike traffic, the immediate vicinity feels safe (even at night), and sightseeing is possible at Paco Park (cemetery where Jose Rizal was first buried) and five minutes walking to Rizal Park. Negatives are distance to the bars (though taxi ride is not long or expensive), long jaunt to good restaurants, and five minute walk to convenience stores on General Luna. If truck traffic backed up on Roxas Blvd has not been corrected, then travel time from NAIA Terminal 3 is quicker to these two hotels than to the mongering hotels in the sleazy bar area of Ermita.

For those who want a five-star hotel or immediate access to p4ps this is not a desirable location. For those of us who don't mind a short taxi ride and like being away from major traffic noise, begging, and crime, this is not a bad location.

The UN (and specifically UNESCO) has a booklet about safety for staff when travelling. In the SE Asia bit it mentions a whole raft of suggestions that are not always logical like "always putting the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door and "leaving the TV on in your room" when you are not inside, but it very specifically states that there is not likely to be any extension ladders available quickly enough to get you out of a burning building and that you should stay no higher than Level 4. In my travels, this is almost impossible because the parking stations, restaurants and offices etc often occupy these levels.

Skog's comments about safety vehicles being ignored is valid.

Very difficult to do much about any of these risks though, especially in Manila or Cebu.

Cross your fingers or, as most pinoys do, pray.

Cross your fingers or, as most pinoys do, pray.I always leave the DND and TV on even when am not in the hotel as makes sense to me. The emergency vehicle issue was well illustrated last week in downtown Cebu near Ayala with an ambulance stuck in a jam with no one giving way. All just ignored and some blocked the intersection also. I was on the other side of the road and watched this unfurl and wondered myself how I would move to create space as the gridlock got worse with the intersection traffic also ignoring the siren.

Reckon it would have been quicker to walk there or best plan to be sick next to a hospital.

On this theme a very old and good friend had a huge stroke last eek, he collapsed into the taxi who had the smarties to take him immediately to the hospital. One of the better ones. Fortunately he survived but I hate the think what could have happened if he was in his condo and called the emergency services given the awful traffic in Manila.

Cross your fingers or, as most pinoys do, pray.In hotels across the world, that have an "integrated fire alarm and fire control system " and this means functioning fire doors, fire shutters, smoke detectors, heat detectors, sirens, strobes, annunciating system, fire doors retardant to a 30- 120 minute capacity, elevators that auto ground, kitchen hood system, pressure in exit stairways, void floors, smoke extraction systems, dampers for kitchen hood systems, and of course a fully activated sprinkler system whereby the sprinklers are hooked to an independent tank, there have been no deaths from fires. Repeat, no deaths from fires.

The good hotels, those with a 5 star rating and those with good management companies, Shangri La, Marriott, Hilton, Starwoods etc have such fully integrated system both by law and due to liability.

The cheap hotels do not and save money by paying a Fire inspector to sometimes look the other way.

Its not the parking that you need to worry about as fire trucks and ladders certainly can't get to the higher floors of many buildings.

Its the alarm system, the suppression systems and the level of care in having a proper fire control system installed and managed and regularly tested that should be the concern.

You're absolutely right in everything you say FF but my guess is that around 90% of the members here are "bargain basement" mongers, and 4 or 5 star hotels are way outside their budgets.

My comments definitely hold for the budget traveller. I am lucky to almost always have the option of a 5-star dwelling, but where this is not available I have actually been known not to check-in to some hotels in which I was pre-booked by my employer because it was apparent that they were a fire trap. I went somewhere "safer".

I guess those mongers who live on the edge anyway (never use condoms; DATY with hard-core pros; DFK in BJ bars; eat street food etc) would be laughing at the likelihood of any problems arising from a possible hotel fire.

I agree with FReebiefan that in high end hotel chains no problem. Still I allways put up orders for low floors. At the same time I have to give credit to Ascott hotel, Glorietta 4, Makati. They have regulary fire alarm tests going off every now and then (inhouse crew beeing notified upfront ofcourse). In Shangri la, Fairmont or Ascott I still will live low floor, just in case. I sometimes for a day or two can live high floors as often best excecutives rooms are here or presidential suites. But I can not say I like it very much thinking about in Manila especially about the horrendous "trappic" situations and less to non respect for emergency cars.

Hello all,

Apologies for the very dull question:

- What 5-star hotel in / around Manila is most convenient for the action, given that I will mostly deal with dates secured through DIA?

I'd like to occasionally check out Manila Bay Cafe and some malls (if dates go wrong), so for that purpose a 5-star hotel in Malate may best (if there is one). On the other hand, I understand that Makati Hotels are more classy and some girls may not be even willing to meet up for a date in Malate.

What say you? Thanks!

Any opinions on whether the front desk safety deposit boxes at larger hotels are safer? They are much safer for the mere fact that most are under constant CCTV surveillance.

Hello all,

I'd like to occasionally check out Manila Bay Cafe and some malls (if dates go wrong), so for that purpose a 5-star hotel in Malate may best (if there is one). On the other hand, I understand that Makati Hotels are more classy and some girls may not be even willing to meet up for a date in Malate.

I view Makati and Malate / Ermita as two separate destinations. When I decide to stay in Makati I am thinking Bugos Street and nearby clubs. When I stay in Malate I am thinking EDSA Entertainment Complex and the international Pasay clubs and bars like La La Land and Universe.

My two favorite hotels in Malate are The Diamond Hotel and the Pan Pacific. Both Hotels are very good and are easy walking distance to MBC, the Robinson mall, and a short taxi ride to the EDSA Entertainment Complex. Look for internet deals from Agoda, Booking dot Com, and Kayak. I have stayed in both hotels for around $100/ night which is a very reasonable considering the quality of these two hotels. Recently LE Club Accor had a room sale in which a room at the Sofitel Manila was available for $104/ night which I thought was too good a deal to turn down, so I am going to be staying at the Sofitel for the 1st time shortly. Further south there is the brand new Hyatt City of Dreams and a couple other newish high end (meaning not cheap) resort casino complexes. I plan to check out the girls at Solaire and the Hyatt while I am staying at the Sofitel. Things are looking up on the bay.

At the same time, it would appear that you would never consider a 5 star property unless your employer was footing the bill..10 years ago on my maiden voyage to the Phils I spent the first few nights at the Intercon in Makati. Not once since then have I stayed at any thing resembling a 5 Star hotel. I just didn't see the value in it. I understand traveling on an expense account, though. Its a whole different ballgame, you need to maximize the nicest accommodations your company will allow because its money left on the table if you don't. And in an economic backwater the the Phils most corporations or organizations have very little knowledge or understanding will not hesitate to authorize 5 star properties based on the perceived safety bonus.

The considerations for those of us paying 100% out of our own pockets are totally different. I just can't justify paying 1st world prices in a 3rd world country. And that's what the Top hotels demand.

With regard to where to stow your valuables I have found in room safes or front desks I have been fortunate enough to have batted 100% in both and never had a problem. Once you get to the below 4 star places often there is no in room safe, especially in the provinces the Front desk safe deposit consists of them wrapping your stuff in masking tape and your signature of over the place where the tape is the crown seal and then they store it God knows where. I never give them much actual cash beyond maybe 10,000 P my passport and a few spare CC. Never had a problem. Eventually I suppose I might might I am prepared to accept the risk.

Specific to Manila area hotels one particular practice I have employed is stowing baggage at the front desk for my trips to the provinces or AC. Since Manila is the only real hub I can use, I am stuck having to go there. I usually bring alot of pasalubong for the girls and the kids mostly cheap or free stuff or hand me downs but they appreciate it so I always store it in the front desk in a suitcase or box and stow for a few days to over a week. I never had anything missing. Obviously the Hope diamond isn't in their nor any cash and the only jewelry is costume. I did this at Makati Palace, Swagman and Casa Bocobo Ermita and a few others over the years I've forgotten and never had a problem. They usually have some nominal daily stowage fee but almost never remember to ask for it for some reason.

With regard to the Girls and their exceptions of your hotel, first you have to know from where they actually live on a day to day basis. If you take a girl 2 levels above where she lives day to day that's all she can really appreciate anything above that is a waste and truly is pearls before swine. Her thinking you are rich is relative term, you already are rich by the fact of who you are and your nationality and how you comport yourself.

Finally with regard to noobs asking questions about suggestions for hotels always include your price range so you can better be advised.

Happy mongering to all.

Outstanding Sunday buffet there. The City of Dreams (COD) and Solaire are even more so. In addition to the Hyatt at COD there is also a Crown Towers Hotel and a Nobu Hotel.

If you want an isolated-on-a-budget place there is a Tune Hotel also in the area.

For the purposes of mongering (or even walking over to a 7-11 to get some drinks or toothpaste) the Diamond is your better choice due to proximity of EDSA, Harrison Plaza, Robinson's, and the Ermita bars. And after 10 pm or so the drive on Buendia to Makati Ave and the Burgos bars won't take too long.

BTW, I don't recall seeing it mentioned here but the Hyatt Hotel in Ermita is now the New World Manila Bay Hotel.

Does anybodyhas any experience with this hotel?

http://www.oasispark.com/

Is the best price in Manila and seems OK in photos and reports on Tripadvisor.

I tried a search on the thread but nothing popped out.If you use the site's advanced search, the words "oasis paco", and select the Philippines you'll get some results.

I've dined there about a dozen times and I had dinner there Monday night - My Kitchen is one of the better places to dine in Manila. It's an older 3-storey building. No elevator. All the rooms were recently renovated. Smallish pool. Quiet, reasonably safe neighbourhood. Most of the road construction near the hotel appears completed. Attentive staff. Most of the guests I saw are middle-aged white males and younger Pinays. It's not a short walking distance to the sights and frights of Ermita. Taxi drivers tend to not know the hotel, but it is beside the well-known Paco Park so they can get you there.

I don't know what daily rate you've been quoted but the rates posted at the hotel are p4000+; for a bit more you can book a room at the Diamond Hotel which is nicer and closer to the action. I think a fair price for the Oasis Paco Park Hotel is half that.

In a third world country like phils it is to me even more important to stay high end than in a developed country. In developed countries a 3 star may be OK for a few days (me thinks)but here normaly the rest of society is functioning quite well and 3 star is quite ok. In countries like phils I am stucked in the room quite a lot so quality, luxury and safety are of great importance to me. I foot my own bill.

I think the best deal going for a person who wants a larger place with amenities such as pool, gym and free wifi without spending 5-star money is to book a 1-bedroom condo of 40m˛ - 50m˛ through Airbnb. If you don't wait until the last moment you can find some great places that are sized comparably to a 5-star suite and you get a decent kitchen and even a laundry machine, which is needed if you're staying for more than a week. Metro Manila has hundreds of places available. Worth exploring.

There are only 3 5 star hotels in malate and they are all easy walking distance from MBC and Robinsons.

Diamond, Hyatt, and Pan Pacific.

Hyatt the most expensive.

Pan best for the money.

Diamond not worth the money.

And you are right there is a bit of a stigma about Malate in general but you can always meet elsewhere if it becomes necessary. Although I have never found it to become the case.

Happy mongering to all.I think many will differ with you in this point. Regardless 1st world or 3rd world; if we are visiting abroad, safety and security comes our first requirements. Some countries e. G Thailand always encouraging visitors and all the machinery are strict in favor of tourism industry. Whoever rules the govt. But implementation of law and order always favorable for the tourism. So no matter if we stay in high end or low end we may consider our good safety unless we made any stupid move. But some countries e. G Philipine are little different. Even country policy is encouraging the tourism but not strong enough to implement the tourism favorable acts in route level. So we visitors might be getting framed or can suffer a lot for silly mistake or for little ignorance. So the high end joints are the confirmed safety providers in basics or at least we are safe not to be framed by preplanned crime game.

So this may not the matter for what we pay and what we get if you are visiting abroad. We may skip the high end hotels after ensuring our safety and security.

Thank you all for your opinions about 5-star hotels in Malate and Makati. I stayed in Makati before and found it a bit too sterile. Plus, I didn't find any girls of the looks I require (optic f**k) at Burgos (even though, I admit, it may have been an unlucky night). I didn't find anything worthwhile in the Havana cafe and decide to try this time something more authentic.

So, it seems from everyone's responses that Pan Pacific is a safe bet, as it is 5-star and a walking distance to Manila Bay Cafe. This proximity is important to me, as in case that the dates I set up go south, I could always save the night by going to MBC.

I am curious to try Hyatt City of Dreams. But, it sounds like it is not a walking distance form all the action. Any reviews about City Dreams are welcome! I plan to be on the scene in about 10 days.

Good weekend to all! A.

I think the New World was a Rennaissance. I used to stay there until it changed hands. It was very stupid of Marriott to let go of that property. A lot of property owners in Makati try to get out of Makati, in the early days because of the 10% fee. Most property belongs to the Ayala group, which takes 10% off, all revenues as their fee. The New World is not a bad hotel. I stayed there couple of times, but not since they remodeled.

Thank you very much for your input!

I would agree with you about the ease of taking taxi in Manila, if not for the fact that:

1. I'm lazy, when I'm on vacation, it's hot, etc.

2. Time is my most precious currency. I have none of it, so walking few minutes to Robinson mall, MBC and EDCA is a major plus.

Unless Hyatt City of Dreams has something spectacular to sacrifice the logic above for. I must stay within the walking distance from the action. I do appreciate your comment though! A.

They were full but prices were the same range as the Durban.Tomasb,

Not so far from the EDSA EC though not been there on this trip, about P125 taxi to LA Cafe (taxis outside here try to ask 200-300 without meter; walk to MoA and taxis there are required to use their meter). $34 per night but there is a $50 cleaning fee at the end of my two weeks. Booked on AirBnB. Still cheaper than many hotels though. Definitely would do it again.

You're wise though to keep the name confidential, at least until after you return home and send in your FR.It, or something very similar, wouldn't be hard to find on Airbnb or the other room booking sites like Roomorama. Even after I get home I don't really want to go into any more detail as it wouldn't be fair to the condo owner. Suffice to say when I was looking for a place to stay, there were at least a dozen apartments around MoA. A couple in this complex I think, the rest in other complexes. Condos are springing up all around MoA so there is plenty of choice.

While it's convenient for MoA, and taxi drivers know where to head for, it's not great if you want QC, Makati, or, to a certain extent, LA Cafe. EDSA EC is close though.

I'm actually here on business and one difference from hotels is that ordinary people live in condos - young families. So a little discretion and decorum is required: I doubt the doormen/security would tolerate frequent nocturnal goings on with scantily clad visitors. Occasional, respectable visitors, yes.

FR when I get home.

I've booked 6 nights at the city of dreams in a club room. Will update with how I find it.Me, GF and baby stayed here 1 night on our way to Boracay (28 of February). Stayed at the Aqua suite. When we arrived the room was chilled at 13 degrees. I tried to establish somewhat a warmer temp without succeeding. Some tech staffcame but could not fix it. They moved us to another one chilled like 17 degrees and then we switched off the hole thing, got warm and to hot ofcourse. Did not want any more hazzle as it was starting to get late and we had an early flight out next day. Prebooked a pick up which was not ready ofcourse in the morning at 6:45 am. So made us almost late for our Kalibo flight from T3.

But room great at a size of around 85 sqm, it was dark outside so did not pay attention to what was outside viewwice. Taxi had problems find the way to the hotel so we were drivingback and forth the bay a couple of times until he got the idea driving up to Mall of Asia and then drive "inland" where he almost got the right exit. I saw we were close to hotel entrance so we just ditced the driver, paid him, and footed to the Hyatt (not hotels fault). Staff seemed untrained but friendly. Room fashionalble and high tech (maby to much based on the aircon exp). Very spacious. Did not use the lounge so cannot comment even if we did have access. 15 k one night.

Perhaps you unknowingly booked the Hyatt's "Christmas Experience". Got to hand it to the power of the Hyatt's marketing team. People will trek through barren fields and construction sites to stay at a hotel in isolation - that's some serious mojo. You'd think the drivers would know how to get there; it's right off Roxas Blvd. But there is a gotcha because Aseana Ave doesn't meet Roxas. It ends just a few metres away. Why??? Driving south on Roxas drive past City of Dreams (COD) to Seaside Road, turn right, and then turn right again to Diosdado Macapagal Blvd and return to COD. I spoke to a few cabbies about COD (I shifted house at the new year and moved near Resorts World) and what has been often said is hardly anyone goes there (by taxi, of course) and the drivers don't like to hang out in COD's taxi queue because there are few passengers. If one desires a stay at a posh hotel near NAIA, one which the taxi drivers can actually find, check out Maxim's at Resorts World across the street from NAIA terminal 3. I don't recall anyone mentioning it here in the forum but it is one of Manila's finest hotels.

I hate staying in room below 50 sqms. But atleast they were on my radar. I guess the new Hyatts area will develope in near future so it might be more easy to stay there. But as for now I agree highly in your comments. But I tried it and lets check it out in 1 year or so.

Without doing any walkaround I could spot some girls at the casino which from all I know could be available.

I like to stay around the 2 k pricepoint because I only diddle girls and sleep in the room. I don't entertain.

Lotus garden is nice, I had a deluxe room booked through their own site. At that date is was cheaper to book direct compared to the booking sites. The room is not cramped, the bed is nice. Good lighting, no funky smells anywhere. A kettle and a separate "girl station" outside of the bathroom so you can shower and shit while they take forever to get ready. The AC was also nice. No shitty cube thing. Also a real fucking desk for getting some work done. Wireless slow as shit at times.

The bad:

No I'd taken of guests.

No safe in the room.

To much genuine crazies, robbers, scam taxis and sales people overflowing from UN ave. They camp outside and follow you around.

Far to walk through the sea of fucktards unless you frequent the UN ave places.

Overall, worth the money for a fresh room at a cheap price point. The diner is decent and not to expensive.

Executive plaza. Tried this out because it's hyped online for mongers. Walked in and they showed me a ludicrous slip where the price of a deluxe room is stratospheric. After just telling them to cut the shit they gave me 2500 pesos. Probably also to high for walk in price but they are booked like crazy.

The rooms are a bit dated. At first you just think it's a dump coming from lotus. Tv was a CRT with half functioning remote. AC is cube shit. Shower ok but sometimes low heat for hours. The bath room floor is angled away from the drain so the floor is permanently wet. No real desk, just a small little round table that's too low. Almost all the power sockets are behind some furniture and only flat prongs. No safe in the room. I think the price is a bit to high for what you get. Diner isn't anything I will remember. Wireless reasonably fast at all times. No fucking kettle. Now that I check the online pics the deluxe room has a kettle, might be that they scammed me and gave me a lower class room. Who knows, the room was nothing like any of the rooms in the websites pictures.

Security is top notch, all guests have to leave I the during the stay and write down their name, phone and address in the visitors log. Call to the room before and after. I was a bit worried they were getting tired of my frequent visitors until I followed the last one out. At 01:30 at night they had two one inch high stacks of I'd cards at the security desk. This place sees some traffic in a day.

I don't know why this place is or used to be hyped. It's not the worst but also not the best. The most useful parts is probably the closeness to the starbucks side of robinsons and MBC. Use the Riviera / rothmans tunnel to go to the mall and you can skip the fuck nuts at at least one crossing.

Nice hotel. Better than the Hyatt used to be but ofcourse they have done some modernizing atleast in the suite sections where I allways have stayed. Nice and friendly staffs. Quick check in at the residence level 10 FL and quickly installed in a bayview suite (16/17 k a night, 75 sqms). No kitchinette though. If you use some bigger suites you get own kitchenette but paying 20-30 k anight for 2 nights is a bit steep as I only stock beer and booze in there anyway for such a short stay.

The residence lounge very comfy and a great view of the sunset (same from my room). They are generous in their beer / wine / booze handling and the tapas and smoked salmon also great. To bad the area outside is somewhat shady and you only have to walk 10 mts to get your first offer for fake phones and fake viagra. The Dbo ATM got stucked with 10 k of my pisos (ATM working and working for minutes but suddenly it gave up, chaxking my electronic bankings showed I withdrawed 10 k but sadly no bills). Dbo hotline told me to contact my card issuer from back home and they told me not to worry, everything ok, we cover your evt losses without even writing a complaint, I sont do this so often so they know I probably don't kid for such a low ammount of money). The latter not actually the hotels fault ofcourse..

I really hate walking through a lobby or even past a security guard with my lady for the evening. Can someone please tell me if there are any hotels, condos, with a private entrance in Manila? Preferably Malate area, but would also possibly consider Makati if not too expensive.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.Mike, if you can't walk in with a look of pride and a sweet little hottie on your arm, then maybe you should get some help with your shyness. I suggest that you chant at least 20 times before you leave your hotel for the hunt, " I'm going to get laid by a hot little pinay and I don't care what the fucking front desk thinks" that may help you and will be much easier then finding a hotel with a back entrance. Oh and by the way if you do find a hotel like that, smile, you are on candid camera.

Just my 20 pesos, L A T.

Thanks in advance.Good question. Get a paid membership and Private Message functioning, hit me there and I'll respond there. If you can afford to go to pinas, you can afford a membership.
