Guys a lot of you are worried about these posts about robberies and spiked drinks etc, here's my thoughts and observations. This applies for longer stays like mine but.
1. most girls you'll see and meet and take home in or from the Parque Llearas are same girls you see every night and you see their friends every night = this is very unlikely she will rob or spike your drink at home.
2. same goes for the girls in Gusto and other clubs surrounding this area. There are cameras and the cops will find and catch them.
3. if your building has security and checks this is very unlikely she will rob you and run away. Some building staff will require you to escort her out on her way out.
4. if your apartment does not have the guards, there will likely be multiple gates and keys to get inside; if she does not leave your apartment she is not likely to get her friends to go in and rob you.
5. if you meet a girl online (tinder / etc) make sure to get her online social profiles. Save some of her photos, take photos of her or together with her.
6. having a company at home (2 or more guy friends) will make a huge difference in safety and even girls attitudes.
7. don't go to her apartment, don''t go to a bar/club that she offers

I would not feel safe following your rules. The girl can score once and lay low until you leave to reappear. Just by reading reports, we know that is not safe. Colombia is a poor country so life is cheap, they don't have the resource to capture criminals even when we may consider easy. That is why you see mongers try to capture the criminals themselves and that actually shows how easy it is to capture them. Basically these events go against some of your rules or assumptions.

By high end I mean 22-27, good looking, willing to do complete GFE.
By legit I mean the Casa is safe, the ladies are all of legal age, and the ladies don't have ulterior motives to rob me.By your definition of "high end" you'll have a better chance of finding it at an El Centro casa than at a place like Loutron. Depending on your definition of "complete GFE", your chances of finding it at any casa are slim.
You've got 30-60 minutes to explain everything you expect, reach an agreement on how much more it will cost and get her interested in putting some effort into it. That's not going to be easy.

.I have talked to people who have been drugged and robbed who called the police. The police in question feel it is the Mongers fault for being stupid.
One fellow who was cut by a would be robber and was at a store buying pads to stop the bleeding told a nearby policeman what happened and the Cop quickly walked away.
The only way for a New Guy to be safe is to go to the Casas. No underage girls, no Ladyboys, no getting drugged or robbed. If you hit it off with a casa girl then if you want to see her outside then I think that is the way to go.

I will say in my case, and this is coming from someone that has spent 12 years going to Medellin over 30 trips, but was still drugged / robbed in November, that having a doorman is one of the things that you should definitely do and also instruct them not to let people leave unless you walk them down. In regards to pics. If the girl is acting suspicious send some of the pics to friends. I had taken screen captures of the girl, but then she stole my phone and I was unable to retrieve the pics. She also stole my keys to let herself out and an accomplice broke the entryway security camera and stole the storage device.
I had made the mistake of branching out to data 'semi-pros' and it was a girl I met off of Bumble and after our second 'date. ' Money was never discussed as she just wanted to 'hang out' which should have been a red flag. I watch my drinks and make my own, but I stepped outside to get food off of the grill for 30 seconds and she drugged my drink.

Seems like you are saying that spending the most money will get you the most fun. If so, then that is not true at all. You can make your own fun for free. You can also pay exorbitant amounts hoping someone else, that does not know you from a can of paint, can deliver your idea of fun. I would rather take the chance at making my own fun that to shell out a bunch of money and be disappointed.Where I live it costs $400 to $500 for an hour. Non pros are much more costly it starts in the range where I buy everything and progresses to them taking half of everything I own. So if I go to MDE and spend $60 to $80 that's no big deal. I'm not rich or a jerk. I do believe you are on to something though and next time I'm going to do tourist excursions.

I last year filed a denuncia against a guy who threatened me with Whatsapp messages because I was seeing his girlfriend. I had to go to the Fiscalia, wait several hours to file the paperwork, and believe now that it was a total waste of time.
I believe guys that get scoped / robbed, but aren't physically hurt are wasting their time going after the perps.

Last thing I wasn't rushed at New Life. I think I could have stayed there for 3 hours if I wanted to. I think they had beer. It was a blast and it was probably the best sex I've ever had. I am just trying to express my view gently, less confrontational, that is why I put things in certain ways while other posters are more direct but we are saying the same end result.
If you read my past posts, you will see I sometimes will do social experiment. Basically, you can't think the girls or the criminals will think the way you do. Many of them are not that sophisticated.

Later, his friend matched with the same chick and they set her up and paid the police to be there when she arrived. She even showed up with some of the first guy's shit. In other words, there is a balance of prosecuting crimes against foreigners to take a strong stance, but at the same time they don't want things to 'blow up' and scare the tourists.
The biggest things in the latest case were that the criminals were not connected and that Paul's family paid for the WYN group to do almost all of the leg work for the police and prosecutors.

Cartels and gangs worry about their drugs which is worth BILLIONS.
Those are the people who have political influence. Not some local group of thugs who go robbing iPhones and pocket change at atms.
Also when a murder happens that country's embassy will get involved. Why? For example when Nguyen got killed I was actually in Orange County. He literally lived down the block from a property I had there. It was all over the news.
Then it made CNN.
So now there is government pressure to catch these killers.
This is when the gangs are absolutely powerless.
I can assure you robbing and drugging foreigners is just for a bunch of local thugs. Not saying they're not dangerous as well. But to think they have political or police influence is absurd.
Cartels would have these losers wiped out real quick for getting the US govt to start snooping their noses in medellin or do anything that might bring attention to them that might be bad for biz.
I think this business of drugging tourists can only stop if they get harsh sentences. Which I doubt. I know a man who murdered someone in cold blood and only got house arrest for 5 years. So it's their system that's fucked.
The only way to completely stop this mess is to threaten with extradition if you drug or kill a foreigner. Obviously this wouldn't happen. But I assure you if it did lots of people would take less chances.

The period is used instead of the comma in many places in the world, including in Spanish numbering. So 130.000 = 130,000 in English numbering. Or more often recently there is just a space, 130 000 And the comma is used as a decimal point. And to further complicate, often the last 3 0's in 100,000 will be omitted and the term mil or the letter k will be used. The letter k is universal for 1000, and the word mil is one thousand in spanish. So 130 k = 130 mil = 130 000 = 130.000 = 130,000 in English numbering.
And then to figure it out in dollars you can look up the conversion online, or approximate it by dividing by 5000 and adding back 10%. For US dollars.

Agree with you, but my local fixers said you always need to check. As you know certain barrios are controlled by certain gangs and others are a bit of no man's land. As I understand it where Paul and I were drugged in Laureles was non man's land. After the government and police started to follow up the girl and her gang reached out to the bigger gangs for protection (or to get them safely out of the city), but they were rebuffed because of the reasons you noted and I understand almost got knocked off due to bringing more heat to certain barrios.

Even in the military the last person in line has been through boot camp and expected to have some general idea of concepts. They do not just go from home to the battlefield and told just follow that guy; he is your leader. And if something happens to the leader then those following should have some inkling of what to do. They should not just lay down and not do anything because there is no more leader.
Leaders have support. The President does not make his own briefings everyday. There are people that gather and assemble the information for him to go over in order to make decisions. That is what I look for in a woman. But obviously I am expecting too much and you do not expect anything at all. I know what you mean. It's annoying. I've thought about it probably more than I should have. I've come to the conclusion that the girls do it for two reasons. One reason is it relieves the monotony of their daily existence. I think the second reason is it literally softens the blows they have to take. They soon learn they can distract guys enough to lessen, shorten, or even prevent the strokes we enjoy so much. I have myself trained so that when they begin to play that game I immediately tune out their verbal cues so I can stay on task.

Yes, because of poverty, women take the metro and walk a mile or two to their job location rather than spend money on a taxi. So their weight stays healthy for a longer time. BUT as to the processed food comment. You couldn't be further from the truth. Street venders are selling fried everythings and they have no trouble selling their wares. You also see a proliferation of American style fast food restaurants all over the place which was far less common as few as 3 to 5 years ago.
I'm afraid the US is exporting the American diet to Colombia and in time the effects will be apparent. BTW China is a super good example. If you go back 40 to 50 years, you would rarely see a Chinese man or woman who was obese. Their diet of rice and vegetables was standard. But as the country opened up to more and more Western trade, the US exported its American diet and the cities in China have had a growing obesity problem.

I would offer something to support my theory. The women of Bolivia, Paraguay and Chile are not nearly as stunning on average. Why is that? The huge influx of European soldier / explorers was far less abundant in those areas and so the indigenous were not wiped out to the same extent.

From an evolutionary standpoint it is because they had to be. I've met several Colombian men and they aren't worried about much when it comes to women.
This is baffling to me because where I live women have the decided advantage.

Yeah, live and learn. I've been in Medellin during Semana Santa a few times before, but never really hit up the barrios to have paisa family get togethers like this trip. The good thing is one can still party in the apartment or go out to any bar / club in the Poblado / Laureles / Envigado areas. Take a screen shot of your completed mig form, print the screenshot out. Make at least 2 copies, along with copies of your passport. Don't expect check-mig to e-mail you even though it says it does. Take copies with you to Colombia and you will be good.

See all the threads on the Check Mig in the past 60 days. Some people have zero issues. I had major issues because I never received the email. Looking forward I'm just using I Visa. Good luck!

Thanks for telling me the truth.Don't let my post deter you from going to Colombia. You and a chica can just hang out and can trust each other and can build a friendship even if it revolves around money for sex. All I'm saying is just be alert and aware and don't let your guard down just because you feel like you know her.
My observations from being in Medellin on and off for the past 3 months and comparing to other multiple trips over the years mainly before the pandemic. There seem to be a lot more available talent around the parque lleras and surrounding areas. This is a full square around the park perimiter which include Gusto club at the top, and a couple of clubs next to the liquor shop, the a new 'til 4 am' club on the corner, plus the main street outside the park perimeter which is 10th ave I think and has two pharmacies on the corner. This area is a full on meat market, like I have never seen it before. Most gringo's and other toursits sit and drink beers at the surrounding bars. There are very active street hustlers inviting you to one of the clubs. I used to but never see a point going into these clubs packed with dudes trying to get a table, the music is super loud. All these girls that walk in and out of clubs are approachable. Not once has a girl refused to give me her number. So why bother going to the club if you can see them all outside and better lit with the bright lights. I've taken 1, 2 girls alone or 1, 2 girls with a friend. Never any issues. I have doormen check their ID and take girl's photograms. I will demand to take a photo of the girl or together before we talk into the building. I sent the photo to my friends. It's not bulletproof, but there is enough presence that if anything happens to you and you are willing to pursue this, you will find the girl and any evidence of wrongdoing should there be any harm done to you. Didn't get to write a report yesterday skipped a day being so busy.

Don, I wish I could tell you being with one woman was part of some plan. Truth is we are at the airport and Cancun and the gal is balling her eyes out saying, "I am never going to see you again. I tried every ATM unicentro Laureles on Calle 66 has to offer. The Red Aval Cajero has the best transaction fee 18.500 cop at 1. 000.000 pesos. This ATM allows you to take up to 1. 500.000 milland pesos out at a time. Capital one does not charge transaction fees so all I pay is the trasaction fee of 18.500 cop = $4. 19 USD. I don't know the transaction fee for 1. 5000.000 cop as I haven't took that much out yet but gather its not more than $6 usd. Unless you have some Credit Union or something really strange, almost all banks use the Visa Exchange Rate to settle ATM transactions in different currencies.
The rest of his point was exactly true too. Davienda allows a 2 million withdrawal (per transaction) and there is no fee. As long as you decline the bank's offered rate you will get the Visa Exchange Rate which is always much higher.

I checked "Decline banks exchange rate" and said the transaction was successful but did not spit any money at me. I have capital one so called them and the transaction went through on there end and the rep said the ATM should have gave you money. After using google translate with some manager at the Davivienda bank almost an hour did they tell me they will credit the account but my take 7-10 bussiness days. Still recieved no answer why ATM did that. I'm not the only one, other people have been scammed a couple years ago by same bank. Careful of Davivienda bank.

There are 3 components to the cost of using and ATM in a foreign country..
1. The fee that the ATM charges
2. The foreign withdrawal fee that your bank may or may not charge.
3. The exchange rate that is used for the transaction
Most of the time the biggest cost by far is the exchange rate used for the transaction. That will be determined by what sort of foreign exchange clearing process your bank uses. Most USA banks seem to use the VISA facility for this, if you use your debit card to withdraw money. And assuming your debit card is operated on the VISA network with your bank. And the cost there might be around 1% for US banks, or based on the previous day's VISA exchange rate...not sure. But if you are lucky or unlucky enough to have a Canadian bank it is a whole different process, usually. Anyway. Then for sure the exchange cost will be your largest cost in the process.
In my case if I withdraw cash from Davivienda
1. There is no ATM charge
2. My bank charges $5 per foreign transaction
3. My bank charges 2.5% compared to the mid market rate at the time you withdraw the cash. So on my typical $500 approximate withdrawal my currency exchange cost is $15.50, my home bank fee is $5.00, total $20.50. If I deal with a bank here in Colombia that charges an ATM fee that is over and above the $20.50.
And the only way I will really know the cost of the currency exchange is to either just believe my bank, that it is 2.5%, or look at the rate I got and compare it to the published mid market rate on that day at that time of day. Which is hard to do. But I have done it and it does seem to correspond to what the bank says they charge, which is 2.5%
