Good deal. I'll contact ya when I'm there.
I ended up with an apartment this go around.
More private; less of a walk of shame past front desk people.
Cool. Are you staying at a Hotel or did you rent an APT? I'll send you a PM in the next day or two wit my contact info if you want to meet up for a beer.
Late,
Anybody know where to buy high quality, inexpensive clothes in Medellin?
Do you mean off the rack or are you looking for a tailor? I knew an excellent tailor in Cali but most of the ones I have seen in MDE are pretty shitty, I guess it's all focused on women's clothes.
If you want nice off the rack stuff, you will not find it "inexpensive. " Imported goods are at a premium and even Colombian made stuff is usually poor quality and / or poor value. Check out the made in Colombia towels they sell at an Exito for example, they cost like 40,000 pesos and are total pieces of shit.
If you go to Santa Fe, LOS Molinos, etc, there are some decent chain stores but again unless you catch a sale nothing will be cheap in fact it's generally more expensive thread for thread than what you'd pay in the USA Or Canada. You can venture into the Hueco and there are some things worth seeing. If you need sneakers, definitely go there, Palacio Nacional and a block over there is another mall, good deals and good selection versus the high prices at the mall. There is also a store in malls called X Room that has some good deals on shoes. For clothes, very hit and miss, I could tell you more if I knew what you were looking for. Also what size are you? If you are a big fella, don't waste your time. For as many fat fucks as I see, there are not many big sizes. Bigger than XL? Forget. Pants for a 40+ waist? Ditto. Finding a suit jacket that fits? Better off getting it done from scratch.
There are two Citibank ATMs, one on ave. Poblado and one in the Oviedo Mall, that will dispense up to 2 million COP, with a fee of around 17,000 COP. 500 US dollars will get you about 1. 6 million COP at the current rate. Many local banks limit withdrawals to 600,000 or 800,000 at a time. Of course you can make more than one withdrawal until you hit your bank's limit (or the ATM runs out of bills.).
There are several, one in San Diego, one in the Centro on Junin (used to be one at Exito San Antonio also), one sort of hidden at the airport, etc. They dispense only up to two million pesos. I want to be very clear on this. Maybe, maybe with a Citibank card it's more but I do not think so. The other user may have been using his card at a time when 2 million pesos was roughly or more than $1000 USD.
My bank is not Citibank but it has a $1000 daily limit. I can still only get two million pesos in one transaction from a city bank ATM, which today is 600 and some odd USD.
Still, that is your best bet. The fee is about $5 USD, right now about 17,000 COP. It does fluctuate based on exchange rate. Servibanca ATMs dispense up to 780,000 COP at a time, the fee is about 10,500 now and you can do more than one transaction (though each individual one carries a fee, obviously).
Hi Sbeach,
Thanks for the info. I was going to open an account with Citi, because I thought it would be easier using their ATM's in COL, and there would be no fees. However, they only waive the ATM fee's if you have their gold account which requires a minimum of balance of 50 k. They charge a 3% transaction fee for using their ATM's in Col unless you have this account. I check with my bank, Wells Fargo, and they only charge $5.
If you have a citibank card, you can take out more than the 2 million at the citi atms. It also depends on your daily limit also. I've taken out a 1000 usd at the Citi ATM bank branch across from La Estrada on Poblado in one day so no issues for me. It was for my rent but I had no issues.
Thank You,
Judd.
Hi WT69,
I will definitely bring down some $$s. I just wanted to utilize the ATM's in order to minimize time wasted tracking down a cambista (I assume they are all downtown), and be subject to their BS rates. I guess if were to do one or two transactions with a cambista for, say 3 k, and their vig was somewhere around $30 USD or less, it would be the same as using an ATM.
Thanks for the info.
Judd.
You might have trouble get that much out of ATMs.
I have, some banks allow only so much to be withdrawn at one time.
You will save the $5 transaction fee by bringing cash.
Don't go to Cambista, just go to the Banks.

Open a capital one 360 debit MasterCard. You can open it online and link it to your bank to add money anytime you need. I had used it in Colombia, the Dominicsn Republic, and Costa Rica, with no international fees being added when withdrawing money from any ATM I had used. The only charge you get is the ATM fee charged by the ATM which is quite minimal. I like to use Bancolombia ATM cause they have a 600,000 cop maximum to withdraw and the ATM fee is very small. A 5 usd charge is way too much to pay in comparison to what you would be charge for using the capital one (no transaction charge and less than 2 usd for using any ATM in Colombia):
Zika from what I have read in the papers is not that big a deal unless your pregnant. Then its a very big deal as it can harm or kill your baby.
A healthy guy shouldn't have much of a problem.
I told him that authorities have discovered cases of Zika in our states of residence, so we should get out and down to Medellin while we can. .
Hey gents,
Which casas are open on Sundays and have the best line-up? I've been to new life once, great selection. Went to Loutron tonight, around 8, but it was already closed. Considering New lLfe again, Energy, Loutron, but need an advice where to go because I've heard some casas might be slow or closed on Sundays, thanks!
Thanks for the info. Very useful!
Got a trip planned for Medellin next month, and my travel buddy is freaking out about the Zika virus. What say the collective? Cancel our trip?
Was having my annual physical on Friday and I asked my doctor about the Zika virus as I am planning my next trip to Colombia. If a male gets infected, it would be flu like symptoms for about couple of weeks. It does not stay in the body. Just spray yourself with with repellents if necessary. It is a big issue for women who are pregnant as their babies may have deformed head or even result in death in some cases.
Thanks for the info. Very useful!!.
The current ATM fee for withdrawing at a Bancolombia ATM is 4,400 COP or 1.34 USD at current conversion. That is the reason I only use the Capital one card because that is all that gets taken whenever withdrawing 600,000 COP. Any bank that offers a deal waving ATM fees in other countries have some crazy requirement like having in the account 50,000 USD. I also think that the best exchange rate is given at the ATM and is the most cost effective way to get your money even with the ATM fees. Also, the money exchange places are a rip off because the fees they charge are too high and the rate they give is not the best.
Visited my favorite casa today. At New Life I was shown the following.
1. Carina.
2. Valera.
3. Alejandra.

5. Karen.
6. Melanie.
7. Juliana.
8. Brianna.
9. Emily.
10. Tiffany.
[B]11. Pamela.

12. Sofia..
Great update on NL Turgid! You can definitely find some hotties here, I would rate Marisol an 8! Took for 2 sessions, total of 2.75 hours, and she took 3 leches, and tried for a 4th. She's got the perfect spinner body, fake tits and some silicon in her ass, but feels great!
I've had Pamela twice, once a year ago, and last time about 4 months ago. She is quite a stallion, fake tetas and culo! She looks great with her outfit (and I'm going to guess she was wearing jeans), but has a bad see-section scar and scars from her breast augmentation. But she's a beast in the sack, everything is on the menu, including anal.

Scientists believe it can be spread through blood transfusion; but what I found interesting is that there are two known cases in which it was spread by semen during sexual intercourse. When I was watching the show, at times, it seemed like they were talking about how HIV is spread, but they were instead talking about the Zika virus.
I guess it's not only mosquitos spreading the Zika virus, but sexually active Zika infected men.
