Brief:

In a recent visit to another country, I went for a flu shot and found an brochure about anonymous STD testing. I was so afraid in the past that I didn't dare to go to a doctor. For the sake of my family, I called the anonymous testing center and the counselor was very convincing that I should have the screening and also mentioned that now a days, most STDs can be cured and even the most deadly ones can be kept in check so I took the first step and make an appointment and visited.

During the counselling, they advised me to go for a complete check of STDs. I went for it and gave blood samples which were very accurate. For me, the most scary one was HIV so I asked if there is a quick check for HIV and told I couldn't wait for a week for the test results so they did a quick Saliva test and found it's negative (or No HIV). Such a relief that I had a mini burst (yeah. I did cry for few minutes, not like a child though, but more like silent sob).

A week later I got my results and visited the clinic again. They did screen for a total of 8 most common STDs and all came negative (Means I am disease free).

This was a turning point in my life and I didn't want to go thru this again and wanted to have a happy family life so decided to make life style changes as well. Surprisingly it was not difficult to stop mongering once I realized what a relief it was. Since then, I have stopped eating meat (for life) and started walking / swimming. Though the weight loss was fast initially, I gained the weight back but I am not worried. Decided to make smaller changes (not to be so aggressive in exercise and diet) that I could follow, so now I set more achievable targets like walk 3 times a week and stick not maximum of 3 times of eating outside.

I know, most of you don't care about this. Again, I am no saint (and most likely seen more number of girls in my life time than 90% of you) but I feel it's a second chance. I managed to keep my mongering life separate from my family life. Now I am really happy.

I did my first 5 k last week (Of course, I was one of the last finishers, nevertheless I finished).

I am not advising any of you to quit but if you have a family, just be extremely cautious. A simple mistake can ruin your life and even if you are lucky in terms of not catching an STD, be wary of implications if you were to be caught. For those of you who have been thinking about testing, please let me tell you, it's a life changer for me and I am hoping it would be for you too.

If you are an active monger, please don't hesitate to get tested. As mentioned before, almost all STDS can be cured now, if you act. And if you have not contracted anything, who knows you might start preaching like me.

Sorry to all of you who feel I am invading the privacy but this is my last post preaching my point of view. You might not see another post from me in near future. I was planning to close my account but this has been a place to share my feelings, anguish and experiences so I haven't been able to do so far.
