"Taken" is not the correct adjective. It is paying full retail.

In Pattaya, it would be approx 600. 1000 baht for the barfine, and 1000. 2500 baht tip. I normally pay 700 barfine plus 1500 baht tip for 2 or 3 hours; I normally don't do long time. So that's a total of 2200 baht ($73).

In Angeles, the barfine for longtime would be between approx 1500. 3000 pesos. I normally paid around 1700 pesos ($40).

$33 (73-40) adds up if you travel for a few months. Due to the stock crashes of 2000 and 2008, I have to be on a moderate budget when I travel.

Yes I know that in Pattaya you can pay a lower tip, but I believe that's for the lower half of the girls (in terms of looks) , and / or at the end of the night. You can negotiate in Pattaya for the tip, but in Angeles that is not possible.

In Angeles, some of the girls will be 3000 pesos ($70) , but then you need to compare them to the top notch spotlight girls in Pattaya; the barfine might be 700. 1000 plus 2000 shortime or 3000 longtime ($90. $133).

The problem with renting an apartment for a single month is the bureaucracy to get your utilities turned on and the deposits you will lose if you leave in a hurry. It would be rare to find anything other than a shit hole that wouldn't require advance payment as well as two, or three months security deposit. If you are looking for a place to party anonymously you won't find it. Filipinos are wonderful people but a deep social characteristic is that they are extremely nosy. Your best bet is to find a good aparatelle. There are several in town. They are furnished, usually within walking distance of the Central Bar District and include all utilities. They have less security than a hotel but are fairly economical because they have the long stay discount. They range in size from a studio to a one bedroom. The one above the Camelot has a jacuzzi. When it's time to leave you pay and check out without ever having to visit and stand in line at the power, or water company.

Satyr. I was sort of hoping that you had posted a link (I wanted to see if those apartments were something I might be interested in.). It might have helped to give you a better answer.

First. I don't think you will have any problem with the English that is used in Philippines, at least in the major destinations. In the provinces, you will definitely find less.

I am no expert on all the neighborhoods. But there are better / more ex-pat friendly neighborhoods and of course the opposite. I have a couple of friends that have lived there in Angeles for a number of years. One probably is paying in that neighborhood (approx. $350 to $ 400 per month) for a pretty new unfurnished apartment. 2 bdrms 2 baths with a secure driveway. This is in Villa Sol past the Clarkton towards the Friendship Gate. The others live in the area around the VFW and actually pay less, again unfurnished. Even some of the "Gated" neighborhood have had their problems. So no place is perfect in Angeles but with more money involved, the better the results. You would have to see the conditions that the average Philipino (some of the girls and their families live in. At $ 50 or so a month) to appreciate some of the neighborhoods.

You could do what everybody is suggesting and only stay a few nights. I think Agoda had the Lewis Grand at $ 240 a night for a short stay. That seemed to be the high side with everything else coming in less. Prices are probably better if you deal directly with the hotel. The other hotels recommended here did not appear to be on Agoda. You will notice that most of the hotels offer a "discount", a littele when booked for a week or more for a month.

I am usually there for over a month (7 or 8 weeks) at a time and have stayed in a moderately priced hotel at $ 700 per month. It is NOT the Pacific Breeze / ABC / Lewis Grand / Savannah as are usually mentioned here. Those are considerably more.

But I seem to like the "shithole" and find that I enjoy many aspects of being in Angeles. I have friends there, play some golf and occasionally leave Angeles. This next trip I might go a little farther astray and see Cebu.

Without cute Filipinas for entertainment, it wouldn't be quite as fun. LOL.

I disagree somewhat. I agree that the food in Pattaya is much better than the food in AC, but I think Pattaya cuisine is vastly inferior to BKK or Chiang Mai offerings. I dig Thai food. Can you give me a few of your favorite Thai restaurants in Pattaya. Maybe I have haven't found the good ones yet.

The accommodations there are world class.

I would say Pattaya offers many more hotel choices in all price points and within each quality level Pattaya accommodations offer better deals than AC accommodations. This is offset by the fact that AC girls on average offer cheaper service. But, ABC and Lewis Grand for example are pretty good places to stay and if they were located in Pattaya, they would be very competitve.

Just look at the people who go [to Pattaya]. Mostly families, many with young children. It's nice to see other people, not just perverts like myself.

I couldn't disagree more with this. It's weird to see some Korean family with young children on Walking Street. It does not inhibit me; I figure I belong here and these "straight people" are idiots for coming to Pattaya for their winter vacation. They have a beautiful beach, great hotels, and look at this deal we can get." Thailand has some of the most beautiful beach destinations in the world, but Pattaya is not one of them. When I see these families and 'straight couples' in Pattaya, I see real yahoos who either are cheaper than shit or don't know what the fuck they are doing, or both. The only thing these families and 'straight couples' do for me is create an unreal carnival freak show atmosphere. It is interesting to see for a day or two, then it gets old and stale. AC on the other hand, and for better or worse, has no pretensions as to what it is. Other than for some business purpose, the only reason to go to AC is for the girls and when you get down to the bottom line, that is the only rational reason to be in Pattaya too (other than business or family).

Anyway, I prefer Bangkok over Pattaya or AC. The reason is because BKK is a major city of commerce and culture. The nightlife is very good and a huge bonus. It is hard to run out of things to do in the big mango. The restaurants are among the best in the world. I think I could spend a year in Bangkok with short term getaway trips to the beaches or other destinations and never get bored.

You have to kidding, yes? Although I I'm on a personal quest to go through all of the Devils Den girls, which is a bit overpriced (but the quality and service are superlative) , I have been astonished on this trip by the higher standard of girl to be found on Beach Road these days. You have to hunt a bit but it's easy to find as good as you can find in a go go bar.

I found Bee on Beach Road last night. She said it was her first night and she usually hangs out at Lucifers. She seemed good fun so I invited her to my hotel. My max was a week spent in AC once. Kept saying,"There's got to be more?" Four-five nights is plenty. AC is a very interesting nawty side-trip in phils, nothing more (apology in advance to gents living there). One of the great joys of bargirls in AC, is that you don't have to be politically correct.
