Guest policy at New World Makati

There are for the last couple of weeks guards posted outside all hotels and not doing very much but the word is that Manila NCR may move to level 1 in the next couple of days even if you are a resident. Personally I think the Peninsula and New World and Primaria are overrated. Not as Nice but loads of Ascotts where you might get a bang for your buck.
I do not have enough experience to say which hotel is the best in Makati, as I have only stayed at the New World Makati and the Peninsula (perhaps 8-10 times in total), and as I am never there more than 3-4 days, I have little incentive to find a less expensive place. I wrote the New World Makati and told them I wanted to date local girls and bring them back to the hotel to sleep with me (I cannot remember exactly how I phrased it, but I wanted to make it clear that the girls were one night stands, not serious girlfriends or fiancées). I asked them their policy about this. I received this answer.

    Dear Mr. Mamaguevos,

Visitors accessing the guest rooms will be asked to fill up the visitors' form, surrender a government ID, and present proof of vaccination or negative results of an RT-PCR test taken forty-eight (48) hours prior their visit or negative results of an Antigen test taken within the same day. The maximum room occupancy policy per room is strictly applied.

    Regards,

    Stephanie Chanco.

    Makati Diamond Residences.

I wonder if I were to bring a few rapid test kits with me, if I could simply do one at the front desk if the girl did not have a vaccination card. One can get a package of seven for free at any pharmacy in London.

Usually I book $50-60 a night hotels but my travel and hoeing fund has been accumulating the past two years plus I am 2 years older now. I will splurge a little now!
You'll definitely get more bangs for your buck.

DO FEEL FREE TO READ BACK 20 OR SO PAGES (OR BACK TO THE START OF THE PANDEMIC) IN EACH FORUM YOU ARE INTERESTED IN. That will give you an understanding of the covid situation. There is simply too much to explain in order to answer your question. Once the country opens up to foreigners this month, within a month we should have a better idea of the covid situation in regards to our joy.

    Makati Ave excessive street noise

I have also stayed at City Garden and I'M hotel (2 times). Just one problem. Too much noise from Makati Ave.

Really good hotels. The I'M hotel, in particular has an excellent gym, delicious food, and nice spa for massage (don't think they have extras). Their Onsen spa would have been so much nicer without all the noise from Makati Ave (filipinos love honking their horns). Also, as just mentioned, both hotels are very close to Burgos Street (I hope for it to return to previous experience). If anyone still wants to stay at the I'M hotel, make sure to request a room on opposite side (not facing Makati Ave).

I would like to try the Peninsula. Hope I am as lucky as Dg8787 to find a $100/ night room.

Hotels are open and city back to normal

    Hi,

Is the city hotels are open and available for booking. I can see only less number of hotels open for online booking and how is the covid situation in the country.

Few of those hotels actually changed their Agoda or Airbnb descriptions.

A gentle reminder again, to call your digs both one month before your arrival, and again 2 days before your arrival. Confirm:

    1) The hotel is open for your arrival.

    2) The hotel is not a Q-only hotel, or alternately a Q + public stay (I found some; you'd have to be crazy to stay in a Q hotel). My recollection is that all Red Planet (10 hotels) and Go Hotel chains in NCR are Q-only. Lots of other hotels re-opened at some point as Q-hotels.

The reason for confirming with several weeks between, is that its entirely possible that after your first confirmation, the public hotel might have morphed into a Q hotel, or closed completely. WTF they didn't inform you? Phoning is better, as email might take them several days to read and respond to you (if at all).
Thanks for sharing the information on these hotels. I could try a different hotel next time. I normally stay in I'M Hotel or City Garden Grand Hotel. Both are very nice hotels with nice rooftop bars. The Firefly rooftop bar in City Garden Grand hotel is quite popular with great views of the city. They also have rooftop pool but not as good as I'M Hotel one. This hotel's pool has a glass floor and you could see the pool if you stand at the entrance. The rooms are also discounted right now because of covid some USD $80. Both these hotels are right near Burgos street so you would be able to walk.

I hope that others will not do the same, otherwise the pinays will start quoting prices in $ next, like thy do in the DomRep.

Thanks gents for the hotel info.

I will double check the hotel when I am ready to book. Most likely my travel will be late March or early April. I have some business that I have to take care of first (I need the money). Hope it doesn't keep getting delayed. Otherwise I would be there February 16.

My stay in Manila will be 2-3 days upon landing and then onward to Angeles. I have a couple girls and hopefully some of their friends waiting upon my arrival in Manila. The Peninsula and Fairmount seems to be good central locations for them to find.

I am wondering about quality and girl friendliness? I am assuming both are good accessible locations for outcalls?

    Thanks for any useful information.
Dg, I have stayed at both hotels. They both are true 5* so for $100/ night you can't go wrong with either. As far as girl friendly is concerned, all my info is pre-covid, so I have no idea what is going on now, but pre 2020 both hotels were extremely girl friendly.

I fondly remember my 2015 or was it my 2016 MNL farewell party, who cares, that I threw at Bottoms. I brought back 3 girls to the Fairmont. We were all smashed on Tequila (at least 10 shots each). The girls and I were trying to keep it together, but we must have been a site to behold. Ha Ha. Yet the Fairmont staff was 100 % gracious & welcoming towards my entourage and myself. No ID check / no nada / just smiles and that is the way I like it. But the Peninsula is super girl friendly too. I have only brought back 2 girls at a time to the Pen. Nobody cared. So Girl Friendly is a draw.

So what else matters? I will give it a shot:

The Pen has a nicer pool / garden setting. It is really lush and perfect for inviting girls over in the afternoon. More privacy for you and your guest. But the Fairmont pool area ain't shabby either. So, slight advantage to the Pen.

The Pen has a much larger lobby, but the Fairmont's lobby is more elegant. I don't think this matters much, but it is what it is. Advantage Fairmont.

Location: the Pen is closer to Burgos. I have walked it many times. But the Fairmont has easier access to the two high end shopping malls nearby. This is kind of important if you need to run out and get some cokes, mouthwash or something to eat. Advantage Fairmont.

Both hotels have excellent buffet breakfasts. Tie.

Rooms a newer at the Fairmont, but are very nice and well appointed at the Pen too. Tie.

So, I hope this is still relevant info. Have a great trip and let us know how it all works out for you. I know a lot of us are looking forward to returning to the PI, but we are waiting for the all clear ie the Covid BS (the mandates, quarantines, and protocols) to end.

The Penn lobby is very big and is a venue in itself so meeting someone new makes it very anonymous. I've met literally hundreds of new girls there over the years and nobody is watching you. There is a metal detector outside the front door and usually that's it.

The Fairmont had a small lobby as I recall with intense security. I cut short a 4-day stay because of it. The only girl that got through without being grilled was 8 months pregnant and probably they assumed I was the father LOL (met her online and she insisted on coming over because she hadn't had sex in months and was dying for it). Wild action, arching over the big belly to get the job done!

The Penn is an old line hotel that really has class. Its the grand dame of Manila hotels. I also booked it for a trip coming up in two weeks at $100 approx and consider it a great deal.

The pool area is also really nice.
Thank you very much for your info.

    The Penn it is.
