    Havana Best Location

    Hello friends,

I am going to take the dive and try my luck in Havana.

I plan to travel the last week of March.

Any and All advice is appreciated. Anyone have a tour guide they recommend?

I've already met several good prospects online via Tinder.

I need advice on Best location to try and stay in Havana for reasonable price and fun?

Please advise any hotels or apartments etc to rent per your recommendation?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice in these regards.

    Salute!

    Rainman.

So this is my hail mary. I'm not making a joke of that.

I REALLY want to travel to Havana in May. I'm visiting the Southwest then, which makes a trip to Havana significantly less expensive than normal. Normally, I'd be happy for a 5 day trip to be purely about 'supporting the Cuban people', salsa / son classses in particular. But COVID has resulted in a distinct lack of intimacy and, frankly, if I have the choice of a non-P4 P trip versus a P4 P trip, I have to choose the latter.

I've RTFF for 100 pages and, as in inexperienced visitor, I don't see any likelihood of meeting someone for comfort.

Can anyone speak to the current availalbiliy of finding female company in Havana? (by PM if necesary). To be clear, I really want to visit Havana, but I also want to meet one or two locals to enhance my time in Cuba. I don't generally do clubs, nor am I particularly attracted to club ladies.

    Thanks.

Thanks for the advice recently about my potential upcoming trip.

I've decided against it for the time being. Partly because of the current unknowns in terms of clubs, ladies. But mainly because my spanish isn't where I'd want it to be to speak to (non-working) women. It was a tough decision because I love Cuba and would be happy going for a week for the music / dance alone. But with my own carnal drought during COVID, I've decided to prioritize that and go for the 'sure thing' of Medellin, with the compensation of still partaking in some cuban salsa / son one-on-one lessons when I am there.

But I hope that in the near future that my Spanish fluency will be much improved and that there will be an improvement in general conditions and reports. I will continue to read this thread with particular interest.

    Thanks again.

No discussion of bars or clubs and it mainly consisted of walking around and eyeing up girls and hope the cops are not around plus a few tutorials about how to get a chick in a casa particulares.

Most of the discussions here seemed to center around the currency being used, which was helpful since I did not know US currency can be used now and may be worth more than Euros according to one poster. Also, some lively discussions about the switch to MN from Cuc and the excessive cost of airline flights into Havana from Florida, US and Europe. Since I am coming from the south, I may have dodged a bullet there but I'did see a one way flight on JetBlue to FLL from Hav for about $260. I should note that I have never been to Cuba but can speak a bit of Spanish but not fluent though know enough verbs, grammar, and common words to get around. But when the discussions centered around meeting girls, prob fake, from FB posts contacts but no discussion of sites like Tinder, bars, clubs etc. Or do they simply not exist? Is the prime way to meets chicas is simply like walking around? If so where, the Malecon, different plazas? Anyway, inquiring minds want to know.

Ok. Rant over. Would be interested in any comments on how to meet girls and fun things to do or visit in Havana? Should I consider other places like Trinidad or Cienfuegos etc.

I suppose Russians are pretty thin on ground now due to the Ukraine war but perhaps some could not get out or are broke?

I read elsewhere that their numbers are up and the Canadians are down due to Covid etc. But now that the sanctions have taken place, perhaps that increase will change permanently.
Canadian numbers of tourists were way down because of Covid. That will change next winter season if nothing goes backward with getting over Covid restrictions. But Canadians generally stay in the all inclusive resorts, very few venture into Havana for more than a sightseeing tour.

As for finding bars and clubs, etc. And there not being reports. Could be because there have been none operating and virtually no one going to Havana. It has been very difficult to do so. But if you go back a couple of years in the reports there would be talk of the various music club venues, etc. How many remain in operation is unknown, and whether they allow working girls to operate in that way is unknown (to me anyway). A fun activity in Havana is finding somewhere you can buy a tasty meal. That is gold. Or it might be walking down a street in an area that has had no recent restoration done, and a girl calls from a doorway, and you go in to a falling down old commercial building, and she leads you across a bridge over a spot where the floor has collapsed, and knocks on a door and talks a short bit. And then the family that lives there comes out and goes somewhere else while she and you rent their bedroom for 20 minutes. A bit of adrenaline and sex can be fun.

Anyway, its not like you go bar hopping and pick up a gal at a bar somewhere for the night, or for an hour. But, if your Spanish is good enough, and if you have time, you can find your way around and fun.

    Havana bound, maybe.

I have never read the Havana thread before but it's possible I may pay a visit in late March. I have a flight to Honduras and Bay of Islands from US this Saturday, March 5th, and will stay for about 9 days. Then, I will visit some jungle mountains areas near the town of La Ceiba, a large port city off the coast of the Bay of Islands. Originally, I was going to return to US via Roatan (one of the bay islands) to US but noticed La Ceiba actually has a direct flight to the Cayman Islands (at $250 j with their national airline, Cayman Airways. It's only about 1 1/2 but more importantly it also flies to Havana from Gran Cayman. The latter flight is only one hour to Havana and a Sunday flight one way is about $200.

Well, I certainly know I don't want to stay long in the Caymans. The hotel prices are outrageous and apparently there is zero mongering or P4 P with a limited night life. So perhaps two nights and onward to Cuba where Havana AIR BNB showed some very nice places under $40 per night. As a result, I decided to check out this thread, I went back about 9 pages to early September and was disappointed to find hardly any discussion about where to find chicas. Not possible

I heard they are not taking cash in the government stores! You need a bank card in USD!

In a country where surveillance is number one priority the government knows what everybody is doing, and you can be sure that they have plenty of pictures and videos of what the gringos are doing in Cuba. They know who the putas are, the registration "thing" is more to control the "casa" owner than to know who is going to the casa. Do you know that the owner can even lose the house if they don't comply with the regulations?

Right now it's hard to find an available seat to Cuba (and out of Cuba). Cubans (living out of Cuba) are buying tickets at any price, and Cubans (living in the island) are paying over $3,000 for a plane ticket that would get them to Nicaragua!

    I high five you up!

I am Cuban by birth and have plenty of family and friends there, it could be very convenient for me to go there, see my family and monger but I don't for the same reason you stated. Since I left the island, I've only been back once, that was more than enough for me. Cuba is not worthy and if I wanted to be with a Cuban woman, we have plenty of them in Miami and elsewhere.

I heard that when "Cuba" first opened up, the ladies were cheap and compliant but as you know, once stupid mongers start to go to any place, quality and service goes down.

Since 2015 I only travel to the Dominican Republic were I have a relationship with a regular woman.

I still recall with fondness the night I spent in long impassioned conversation with two stunning girls in Yangon, even though neither I nor they could speak each other's language, what we discussed I have no idea but it all ended up advantageous for all concerned.

In the early 2000's I had reason to frequently visit North America and the first time having heard so much about Cuba I scheduled a visit, I learned Spanish in school and can get by. I stayed in the Hotel Nacional, and given that these were the days before ISG I was shocked to discover that I couldn't bring guests back. Really, I am an adult in my 30's, staying in a supposedly five-star hotel and I am being treated like I am back in my college dorm? All the white-jacketed waiters and mojitos on the lawn don't make up for that indignity. Hey-ho I went to the Commodore (is that the name?) and was impressed by what was on offer, less impressed by the arrangement of how to get what I wanted, waking up some poor family at 1 am so that they could rent me a bedroom in their shabby apartment.

Lesson learned, next visit I rented my own apartment, pretty grim, but I kind of got what I wanted, but on the whole it was rushed and impersonal. None of this hot Latina passion they tell me about.

Giving it one last bash a year later, I did both, stayed at the Nacional and rented an apartment (I am not stingy with the cash when I know what I want). Sheesh, things had got even worse. The Commodore had closed, I met two nice chicas, so I thought, on the Malecon, we got chatting they asked for some cash, sure I am a generous guy and gave them a few dollars and asked them to accompany me to the apartment where they could earn some more. I was told to * off and they wandered away with their measly handful of dollars.

That night I met a "young" lady with slightly faded looks but who still had the body of the dancer that she once was. We had a couple of drinks and she agreed to accompany me back to my place. Back there, she proceeded to take out some crystal meth, which she began to grind on the metal kitchen table. Under the bare bulb hanging from the ceiling I could see she was a lot older and more careworn than she appeared in the bar, that combined with the thought of a raid by the cops (perhaps she worked with them) to arrest the gringo with drugs, I paid her off and showed her the door. I went back to the hotel and settled for a mojito on the lawn.

I never felt the need or desire to return to Cuba again. Sure, the regulars will post about how us lily-livered sex tourists don't know how to find real Cubanas, how we need to put the effort in, how we have to go here, do this, say that, and then we'll get all the passionate sex we want.

Yeah, whatever, there's the whole of the rest of Latin America and Asia awaiting me with none of that shit and hassle. Good luck to the long-term residents, enjoy living in a clapped-out country where toilet paper is a luxury but the girls still get to be so picky. The rest of us have a whole world out there and we don't need that sort of dicking around.

I've read through the last 100 pages of posts here. I've also looked at the licence requirements to travel from the US and I'm comfortable that I'll have an itinerary that will satisfy the "support for the Cuban people" category.

So. I'm travelling to Havana in May! This will be my second trip. My first trip was in 2010 and was purely non-mongering related (I didn't even know what a monger was at that point). This trip is also not monger-centric. I am travelling with no expectation of meeting a chica. But if I were to find a novia for my trip, it wouldn't be unwelcome.

    A few questions:

Is anyone here likely to be in Havana during the last 2 weeks in May? It would be great to meet up for some company.

Would anyone be willing to share any casa particular (entire place) recommendations that are guest friendly? I've been searching airbnb and I have a few shortlisted that don't have any strict rules, but having contacted them, they have all said that guests need to register. I get that response. But hoping to find someone friendly who won't mind one, two maybe three guests during different points on my trip.

Does anyone have good contacts with a huster or two who I can perhaps chat / meet with to show me some of the better clubs and / or chicas? I'll only be there for 5 days and a lot of the daytime will be activities which will be "supporting the Cuban people" so my actual downtime will be limited. It woudl be good to get a head start in terms of connecting with one or two guys who can help facilitate a pleasant downtime.

    Thanks all.
When they say that guests have to be registered I wonder what that means. When I stayed in a casa particulare a few years back they said they had to register anyone I brought in, but not the same as being registered as a co-guest. Might need clarification. It also could be an airbnb thing, I'm not sure how they operate in Cuba. I know that the casa particulares all had to be government licensed before they could display the little symbol for a casa particular, and their fees were also regulated. I'm assuming airbnb has to fall under that system as well. But I don't know for sure.
