My on the spot street game isn't very good but I have been chatting up two young women who work near my apartment every day for the week I have been here. Yes, perhaps what I miss the most about Mandarin is the food. I mean it wan't top notch Chinese, but it was actually the only Chinese food I could get in Kiev at that time, as few others available were totally overpriced and terrible. Mandarin at least served decent Chinese food at moderate price. I don't remember if Scarlet serves Chinese food. Maybe they do if Scarlet means Red Chinese.

But in recent years more and more adventurous restaurants have entered Kiev, and I'm happy to see Musashi now have several locations around Kiev.

Oh yeah, there's so much variety these days in Kiev! Chinese, Vietnamese, American, Italian, Crimean Tatar, Georgian, fusion, - anything. Affordable and great fast food or expensive upscale. Abundant. Great food culture.

Scarlet serves the same as Rio. Sushi and other simple to prepare options. Perhaps facilities are not as great, as they were on Mandarin boat.
