Obviously LE would not have gone knocking on every door in the 5 * hotel. They had specific info. Guess where did this specific info originate from? I think in this case, the monger had enemies and the enemy had knowledge or a poor monger got caught in the cross-fire. Collateral- damage?

As I have mentioned earlier,"The act is all encompassing". Customers are considered to be "abetting the crime". Yes, LE needs to establish that money changed hands for sexual gratification. For this they will ask the monger a 1000 questions. Usually a monger caught with his pants (pajama, dhoti?) down will claim that the lady is his "consenting adult friend". LE will ask the monger a few personal details of the lady, viz family members, their names, residential address etc. And the monger, most likely, will be clean bowled. LE is smarter than many of us here think.

But but, evidence, charges, trial all come at a much later time / stage. Scare-ing & intimidation start immediately and on the spot. LE uses monger's social status & personal / family life as the medium for this intimidation. As you said earlier, many a times monger's MOOLAH comes to his rescue.

In the present case, considering that a political leader was involved, the hotel may not have been a very small and seedy place. I really do not know how big are the subject hotels (Green, Deluxe Green). But even big hotels (* hotels included) are not spared as in the case of Tamil actress.

In both the cases there was a tip off. I think, (Guys, I am very careful about my choice of this word "think") , the tip offs originate from business-rivallry, business-transaction-gone-sour and a disgruntled previous customer, mostly in that order.

Well, HL & fellow members, again this a very vast subject and I am not an expert on this. Those smart guys that are trying to profile me, rest assured that I am not from LE. Neither am I from legal fraternity. What I have written is just some plain common sense, which BTW, is very un-common now a days.

For the really serious, here is the 2006 amendment to the act.

Just as we discussed this few days ago below raid and nabbing of a congress MP with a prostitute in a hotel room is interesting read. To be noted that hotels also seem as shady ones!

FEROZEPUR: In an embarrassing development for the Congress party in the state, Malkit Singh, who contested assembly election against SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal from Jalalabad constituency, was caught with a prostitute in a hotel room on Sunday and has been charged under immoral trafficking act.

The local police arrested 10 persons, including five girls, during raids at two private hotels, situated in Cantonment area.

Hardial Singh Mann, SSP, Ferozepur said, following a tip-off that some hotels in the Cantonment area were indulging in immoral trafficking, a team led by Raghubir Singh, SP (D) raided two hotels, Green Hotel and Deluxe Green Hotel and reportedly caught six couples.

The accused have been identified as Malkit Singh (Congress leader) , a police officer Gurbachan Singh, Sunny, a resident of Jalalabad, Sanju of Guruhar Sahai, Satnam Singh of Naurang ke Syal village.

The police have also arrested two hotel owners including Narinder Kumar alias Sweety and Ashok Kumar Garg.

A case under various sections of Immoral Traffic Prevention Act 1956 has been registered against the accused in the Cantonment police station.

most certainly it will be bribe money for being let off.

exactly as i mentioned they go after providers. also being in india everyone is accustomed to the fact that bribe would be necessary even when you cross a red light so when you happen to be in such a place during a raid you too would have to pay up something or the other as i had mentioned. although for them to charge you they need evidence mere presence does not suffice that you were there to buy sex. unless you are caught in the act inside the room then surely you too would want to pay up and get out from them.

searching without warrant is permitted under the law.

in a brothel it might be an option to do so without a warrant. but a registered hotel with guests unless it is a known shady place they won't allow the police to enter unless they have a warrant. a hotel would primarily inform their guest. no hotel would want to take a hit on its reputation by creating a scene so they would hush up and request for privacy of others to be respected. in cases where they have entered hotels i have read it has been when their decoy customer paid the money to sp not when someone takes a girl to a room on his own. as i said they need evidence to charge someone and mere being with someone in the act in a hotel room would not be classified as prostitution. more or less rather than worrying about the police in the hotel room you should rather consider the intent of the lady not to claim that you raped her which is a far serious crime to blackmail you.

--- hotel is generally safer as they cannot enter your personal space nor hotels let them in on this pretext. the hotel would turn a blind eye to you having a guest when its gfriendly. ---

To protect our privacy, even from packet sniffers, is it advisable to have an encrypted system
