I have had couple of office encounters, trust me its not worth the risk / time. If the girl is under same reporting manager then definitely no. All the office romances I have seen either end up in marriage or one person leaving the company, very rarely it will be a normal breakup. After breakup, you cannot avoid communication with other person, it will be awkward / uncomfortable for both of you, if the things go south being a guy its very difficult to defend yourself.

In this duration, received almost 40 messages from Senior and Regular members asking me for contact.

Though I have tried replying to almost majority of them with details and contacts, only 4 or 5 of them actually shared contacts back.

Majority replied no contacts available and remaining did not even bother to reply back.

Not sure if this is normal in this forum.

Initially I used to share contacts with all the Senior members and very few shared their contacts back.

I observed a pattern here, members who doesn't share their contact back, they do not have much FR post on their profiles (they will usually have several obvious stupid query posts which was not required if they simply RTFF).

So I started sharing contacts only with members who has more FRs in their profiles and mostly they will share their contacts back.

It could be a simple general office talk as well. I would suggest first few interactions should be within the office premise. Coffee break, or lunch together etc. Do not even invite her for an outside dinner or lunch. If there is any special interest (in an office setup) it will take few weeks minimum, if it is a hook up interest) or if it is serious lifetime relationship then even longer.

Don't imagine anything and land in trouble. She is just talking to you as a colleague as per what I understand from your conversation. She might just be having small talk which you would have had while in office lunch or coffee hours. I / we are missing that badly. But back off if she doesn't agree to it. This is where rules or sexual harasment policy comes in. Even if you back off if she is like a person who is lacks confidence and over thinks, can link her non progress in career in same team to you because she rejected the proposal. So if you are her manager or mentoring her, strict no. She is just your colleague no more than that.

I would strongly advise you not have any romantic / sexual encounters with any girl from the same company, even it is not "policy". A casual social connection may be OK, as long as it doesn't go further. Avoid home visits.
