The argument re per capita income and mongering spend in India compared with the US is not quite valid. The rates you mention are not what average citizens would even think about paying. Bombay has a lot of people whose income far exceeds that of the average New Yorker and some of them are quite willing to splurge. A large peg of a rare scotch comes at $ 600 in one of the top Bombay hotels and a guy who can down three of these in an evening can well afford a high priced escort (and probably buy her a few pegs as well).

Some of the points you make are valid in your recent post. The P4P scene is varied in india's financial capital, ranging from the equivalent of $25 for ST to upto $2K for LT's. I see your reports from the DR and PI that are predominantly mongering destinations. Mumbai is definitely not categorized such.

Just like in Brooklyn and some parts of queens you can get a quickie for less than a $100 bill through backpage, such cost / quality equivalent / comparitive options do exist in Mumbai too. The problem comes to independents that are few and far between and the good ones realize that they are a rare commodity and price their services accordingly.

Wow you are so clueless. Mumbai is not a place that you can categorize under one label. There is a lot of deluxe stuff here for the taking. But there is no uniformity whatsoever in the distribution of wealth, which is probably what confuses you. You could say that we have real capitalism here. People make vastly different sums of money and still manage to coexist. About 60% of the city lives in slums but we also have the highest number of millionaires in India. It isn't uncommon to see a sportscar and a starving naked beggar kid on the same street, and that's the beauty of this place. Yin and Yang. The free market. If you can't appreciate that then that's too bad for you but by no means is this is a third rate city. You just need to know where to look.

I have looked at the prices for escorts in Mumbai and they are absolutely outrageous. I will be going there in March and there is no way I am going to pay more than $200 for sex.
