I basically use these apps that provide vouchers for negotiation for the counter rate. ONLY for negotiation purposes. Usually apps like Nearbuy (and Freedeem, as someone also has mentioned) have multiple spas listed on them with competitive rates for the counter charge (and usually far less than if you are just walking in, or calling and arriving). So, before going to a new spa, I check the apps to see if they have a voucher rate, then I don't buy the voucher. I reach the spa and then show them the voucher rate, and then tell them to take in cash for the same amount.

Most (almost all) of the time, spas accept the voucher rate in this way, because (a) they know that the spa is listed in the app and they know it has an advertised rate and (b) paying them the same rate in cash is more beneficial because they don't have to rely on the app to clear the amount to them, because I believe these apps usually deduct a finding fee or something when they clear the amount.

So in effect, win win for monger and spa.

The information is quite useful. I will call the spa before paying through the app. However, being inquisitive can you list down the spa that is receiving the payment through this app? I can recall now and has been discussed in this forum previously that some spas even enlisted in nearby app don't receive the same amount and they have different counter-charges. My second concern which is optional that paying in nearby app will keep a record and I do not want it. So what do you people do in such cases?

Basically, I use the NB rate to negotiate the counter rate. Some of these spas are listed on the NB app, which sells vouchers. While I don't buy the vouchers, I usually quote it on the counter and they accept cash at the same rate in the app. Quoting the NB rate is a good way negotiate the counter rate, in my experience.
