A brief rundown on La Mayorista as it took me 4 weeks to go there, and I really missed out.

If you are in MDE and do not know where it is, all the Taxi drivers I have ridden with seem to know it well. "La Mayorista Por favor" should do it. From the back side of Poblado it is about 8k pesos to get there.

You can also take the Metro to Ayura Station (maps are on the walls of the train) and head West across the river. At the bottom of the stairs head west again on a main road and 10 minutes walking will get you there. This is certainly an option during the day, and at night I did not feel any trepidation either. Metro is 1550 pesos each way and the last train is at 10: 45 at night.

Mayorista is only about a 1/4 mile long on one side of the street. It is a rather raucus, Colombian strip of bars and small eateries that caters to a perdominantly Colombian male clientel. Although it seems rough and a touch out of control by US standards, I have yet to see any trouble there, and enjoy the rather seedy aspect of it immensely.

I took an informal census there Thursday night at about 10: 30 and counted 85 women either standing against the wall or sitting just inside one of the bars. Now I am certain this under represents the working population by 30 or more girls. I did not look inside the bars or make assumtions as to how many were doing the wild humpty-monkey at the time of my count.

Quality of tthe girls is wildly variable. Honestly 60% of them are 2 baggers (One bag over her head and the other over yours in case hers falls off). But there are 100 or more on patrol there, and finding an acceptable ride is possible almost any night.

I have included photos of 4 of the ladies I have entertained from Mayorista. Three were a lot of fun, Ledis was like screwing a dead Carp. You can't win 'them all I guess.

Usually I avoid payment before service when dealing with street chicas and stick to post-service payment. Is this difficult to do in Mayorista?

And to follow up with a word of caution. When going to Mayorista make sure you are somewhat alert and not too intoxicated. Many of these girls will go after any items you have in your pants. Including money, cell phone, camera etc. So make sure pants are in view at all times and never go into the bathroom w/o taking them with you. Especially be cautious if you are taking two girls into a room. I've spoken to a few guys that have been ripped off there.

Maybe YOU should take the bus Malodr mentioned. It will take you right to the Centro. Plenty of possibilities there, but do ask what time the last bus will leave for Rio Negro. BTW, are we talking the village of Rio Negro or the vicinity of the airport? The bus that is mentioned is the bus to and from the airport.

Last bus leaves the airport at around 8PM.

Vp, what you say about Mayorista seems to hold true about the casas as well. I have never been to Mayorista, and prefer the casas, partly because I am not into street girls, also because I am no longer a real night owl. But in the casas, el centro and the suburbs, the last time I was there (May 2010)

Maybe YOU should take the bus Malodr mentioned. It will take you right to the Centro. Plenty of possibilities there, but do ask what time the last bus will leave for Rio Negro. I'm not a big fan of the higher end places in MDE, but Client 9 invited me to go to Luna Lunera. There was a 10K cover charge. The beers were 15k and buying a large bottle of rum for 90K seemed like the best way to go.

I always usually hit Luna on Thursday nights after I been drinking heavily at Babylon. On premise I pay 100,000 or I arrange to meet them across the street at Mario Brothers after there shift ends for 120,000 straight to them. There is about 4 regular girls in there that I like including Patricia(real blanco girl). The rooms are not bad at Luna and the time limit seems to always go over. DO NOT BUY BEER here. Buy the 90,000 vodka or Rum. Get mixes and offer them drinks. 3 of us cut the bill down comes to 100,000 with mixes and 20, 000 propina, to one of the bald waiters, 3 of us 40, 000 for a night of drinking and dancing there equals lots of fun. This place is so hit or miss been there and it's been dead sometimes. But what's weird is this place can start jumping at like 3am. Sometimes around 4am I get a call from the girls gettting off at San Diego looking to make some money before going home. Unlocked local cell phone is a must for MDE.

Vp, what you say about Mayorista seems to hold true about the casas as well. I have never been to Mayorista, and prefer the casas, partly because I am not into street girls, also because I am no longer a real night owl. But in the casas, el centro and the suburbs, the last time I was there (May 2010), I never encountered a single other male customer, local or gringo. And when I made the choice, once she seemed to glom on that I wasn't a complete lunatic, and could speak reasonable Spanish, she would latch on pretty good.

I think there are a couple of reasons, first, as has been mentioned here, the euro is in the tank, so that whole section of tourists is gone, the local market isn't the greatest, and, certainly since I started going to MDE, there has been a huge influx of new money. This was most noticeable the last time I was there, the obvious problem being that virtually all the money is concentrated in Poblado and Envigado, with some in Laurales. The cost of living in MDE has soared, and they (the chicas) see the new centro commercials (eg Santa Fe), and the old ones like Tesoro, and want to latch on hard. So they are hit on all sides, higher cost of living, less tourists, locals not having the money to shell out for them, and it leads to a more desperate girl. I am not sure if this is +ve or.ve for us, but I'll take a positive approach to it.
