About 4 blocks behind the Hilton is a large University, UASD. You can enter and walk around the grounds, pretty chicas walking around there. I ate at a cheapy Chinese restaurant one day, that restaurant was on a corner of Independencia, probably a few blocks from the Hilton. In the lobby bar at the Hilton you can order food and the Hilton has a restaurant on a upper floor, prices are not cheap.
Being at the Hilton you will be a little closer to GBP, (gimnasio bar privado) which is on the south side of avenida 27 de febrero, between Lincoln and Tiradentes. If you go GBP, tell the taxi driver to take avenida lincoln to ave 27 de febrero and tell him to make a right on ave 27 de febrero. GBP will about 3/4 of the way down on 27 de febrero on the right side. GBP is in a building that has circular cutouts in the exterior wall and is right after a car dealer (Arysmendy Motors). GBP is on the second floor. One chica for 1000 pesos, two chicas for 1500, opens in the afternoon and closes around 11pm, rooms on site.
Foxys on the malecon I was told the prices are 6000-8000 pesos (I have not been in Foxys in a while, a guy I met in the street told me those prices). Baby Dolls is 3500 pesos.
I used to stay in an apartment on Pasteur in Gazcue and I got to know some owners of a few casas in Gazcue. Satin Dolls on Pasteur, the owner speaks English. Club 305 near pasteur and Independencia the owner speaks English. Girls House on Pasteur is not recommended. You can walk into any casa and check out the lineup, you are not obligated to buy a drink. Beer prices for a small bottle of presidente in the casas are usually around 150 pesos. Beer price in the Jaragua Hotel and Casino around 250 pesos. If you decide to buy a chica a drink in a casa, try to offer her only a beer. Cocktail or liquor drink prices can be 400 pesos or more in some casas.
In Coppa some pros are not overly aggressive and some are not wearing overly hoochie clothes, so can be difficult telling who is a pro. If you are not sure, you can politely ask one of the waiters in coppa their opinion.
Also walking on El Conde, sometimes can be difficult telling who is a pro and who is not.
The closest beach is boca chica about 30 minutes away, there are min-buses (gua guas) that go back back and forth between boca chica and Santo Domingo for 100 pesos or less. Juan Dolio is a beach town about 15 minutes past boca chica, which has a nicer beach, but less pro chicas at juan dolio than boca chica.
Near the Gazcue casas is the hotel navarro (across the street from club 305) , where you can rent a room for a short time period for around 800 pesos or around 1400 pesos for a night. The cabanas are about a 10 minute drive from the hilton and about 15 minutes from gazcue.
If you have a dominican cell phone and you meet a taxi driver you get along and who doesn't try to gouge you with the price, you may want to use him throughout your stay, get his cell number and call him when you need a taxi. Mardonius has the number of a guy he recommends (you can PM mardonius for that number).

Posts: 65Jaosousa, thank you very much for your advice. I appreciate it. I have a ocean view room at the Hilton, looking forward to it. I will not rent a car there, I prefer to walk around.
Is there any beautiful beach close to SDQ worth going to for a day?

Posts: 1547Santo Domingo pre-travel report
Why do I book a 6:00 am flight when I usually sleep go to sleep from 2:00 to 3:00 am? I am crazy or what? From Puerto Rico, I have two choices to travel to Santo Domingo: a plane or a ferry, only two airlines fly to SDQ from here: American and Jet Blue. Jet Blue has 2 daily flights only and the first one is the 6:00 am flight so I booked that one. This time no reverse flight was booked as on my last trip, LOL. My dilemma was: how can I manage to sleep and woke up early to arrive on time to the airport? Sometimes alarms do not work on me. So I have a plan, I decided to activate the alarm of both my dominincan and puertorican cellphones plus I drunk over half gallon of water before going to bed. It actually worked, at 1:30 I had to wake up to go to bath and the amount of water I expelled I believe was fairly enough to cool down the japanese nuclear reactors.
I called my cab driver Ariel at 9:00 pm and told him to be ready to pick me up at 7:30 a. M.
I will stay at Riazor, their policy for early check in is that if a room is available you can check in at 11:00 am. I will arrive to my hotel before 9:00, I left my bags there and take a walk to el Conde for breakfast at Pacos and to exchange money at Franks.
I had to exclude a couple of chicas I met from internet from my lineup because they do not fit my agenda: the " I want you to meet my father girl" who wants me to spend all my trip with her and the 35 yr. Old chica which is going to celebrate her novio's birthday today and Invited me to a domino tournament the next day. I can't spend a second of my 72 hr. Trip playing dominoes.

Hilton has a mall and a casino located in the same complex. Closest chica venue to the Hilton is the Dollhouse (I have never been inside) , I have read Dollhouse has international chicas, supposedly with prices of $200 or more.
The next closest venue to the Hilton is Casa de Modelos, about 5 blocks from the Hilton.
The Hilton sits on the Malecon (Avenida George Washington). Before your trip you may want to contact the Hilton and request a Sea view room. Hilton rooms are nice and modern. When you use the elevator there, you have to insert your plastic room key card in a slot in the elevator and then press what floor your room is on. Hilton has a shallow pool with an outdoor deck and a bar near the pool. The lobby bar has a big screen television, where you can watch sports.
5 Star International Sports betting place is, from what I understand close to the Hilton, where you can bet on American sports.
Driving west (with your own car or in taxi) there will be streetwalkers on the Malecon and around Avenida Churchill (also called ave jimenez moya) .5 minutes or so from the Hilton.
Driving East on the Malecon or driving east on Avenida Independencia, (there will be street walkers on Independencia, the street behind the Hilton is Independencia, some SWs can be found behind the Hilton).
Depending on the time of day and traffic, going east on the malecon or independencia will take you to a neighborhood called gazcue. 10 minutes or less away from the hilton.
In gazcue there are about 6 casas with chicas, coppa bar which has pros, hotel jaragua casino corner bar and casino which has pros. There are usually a few SWs walking around on Independencia in gazcue.
If you continue driving east on independencia, there are usually some SWs from avenida pasteur to parque independencia on avenida independencia. On one side of parque independencia you will see the entrance for el conde, pedestrian only street and the beginning of zona colonial. Some pros sit inside Pacos cafe at the beginning of el conde. Palacio de Playboy is a brothel located in Zona Colonial, open from 2pm to 2am, prices starting at 1000 pesos. There will be SWs on El Conde, more so in the early evening.
Some guys like casas and other guys only like certain venues. Some guys only want to spend 1000 pesos on chicas and therefore they will never enter most casas. Other guys don't mind spending 3500 pesos or more on chicas.
Casa prices (venue prices) vary from 1000 pesos to 8000 pesos. Putas in coppa may ask for 4000-5000 pesos. SWs ask from 1000 pesos and up.
The bars on Avenida Venezuela have "normal" type chicas. Coppa gets normal people and pros. Friday and Saturday bars stay open later, coppa stays open very late, every night. Some casas say they are open 24/7.

I will be in SDQ in April for 3 days. It will be my first time there. I have been to Sosua, POP and STI before (4 trips). But I don't know how to roll in SDQ, even after reading some of the reports (it seems that casas are not really worth it?). I've booked the Hilton (HHonors member.). I know about the guest fee. I have access to the executive lounge with free drinks. But I actually am not really interested in taking a hardcore puta to that place. GFE is a must.
Anyway, I actually would like to make some sight seeing; do you have any specific recommendations? I also would like to see a common night club (will be there on a Friday night too). Doesn't have to be full of hookers like in Sosua. .
Thanks

So we agree that we have to ride out our good fortune and try to reschedule a new flight for the next day. The Dutchman dips out the back of the tent to call Spirit to see what the damage would be. He comes back in about 15 minutes and tells me $200. We both agree it is a no brainer to pay $200 for a once in a lifetime chance. We head back to the Jaguar so I may make the appropriate emails to let my job know that I am being "bumped" so to speak.
At the Jaguar we let Rapheal know that we will need and extra night and he obliges without hesitation. I make the appropriate emails and we both freshen up and head back to the party. As we enter the tent, a group of Dominicans had held our seat while we were gone and we settle back in to the festive mood. One guy Nelson who was part of the group of Dominicans who held our seats was a true gentleman and even was worried about us. Good people.
We watch the procession of dancers and various themed groups pass the tent while we sipped on our on procession of endless cold Presidente cans. We joked with Nelson and the group anytime trannys would pass in the parade while I would catch glimpses of eye contact from the good looking chica I had chatted up on the way to the tent. We would catch each other looking in one another's direction every so often and just smile. We were having a blast.
Day turned to night and the party kept going. In the fear that the beer would grow scarce I paid one of the workers who was handing out beer a few hundred pesos to make sure he would head to our group first when he brought out a fresh batch. A dark skinned, light eyed Dominicana had been catching my eye for the past hour or two. She was about 6 feet away enjoying the party with her own little group. I made my way over and we chatted and swayed to the music the DJ in the tent was playing. The Dutchman had begun talking to another group of Dominicanas who became part of our designated group. The party dies down and even the guy who I paid to get me fresh beer has assured me there was no more to be had. Security begins to empty the tent in an orderly fashion. (to be continued). I uploaded a pic of me and the Dutchman with the hostess who was filming the live TV broadcast from the tent.

Sheila Tours might be another option for airport transfers, it their contact info can be found.
I have seen airline personnel staying at the Hilton Embassy Suites in Juan Dolio and I met a UPS or Fedex pilot whose company put him up at the Barcello Capello for one night.

pequeno follows behind and i take one hundred pesos from my pocket. i peel off and walk towards pg and hand him the 100 peso bill. i place it in his hand and tell him "no quiero nada mas contigo." he got the hint and the dutchman and i crossed ave 27 and settled our nerves on a presidente grande while we waited for our taxi. i was still pissed about spending this much time on our last day to chase pussy in vein. i calmed down and we headed back towards the jaguar. we both did a preliminary pack and decided to see the sights of the carnaval before our 6:30 flight.
we go through the back lot of the jaragua towards the malecon. there was a definite excitement in the air and a pair of dominicanas walking 10 steps ahead of us. one was markedly better looking then the other. i start chatting up the less good looking one as to not make my intentions so transparent. we talk a bit and gain rapport very quickly. i then ask the good looking one what her name is and we begin small talk. i tell her that she is very beautiful and i was not lying. i ask her if she has a bf and she says yes. i then ask her if she is happy with him. she answers less than enthusiastically. i ask her if i can have her number and meet with her for a cup of coffee the next time i return. she punches her number into my cheap dominican cell phone as we approach the back of the presidente tent. the girls start speaking to the security at the stairs leading up to the tent. the less attractive girl tells us to follow them as she speaks to security. they place the green presidente wristband on our arms and we climb the stairs to the party. as we enter there are beautiful presidente girls handing out shirts, hats, and beads and the atmosphere is electric. i walk another step and workers hand me a cold can of presidente. the dutchman and i don't know how to react, forty minutes ago we were possibly facing being mugged, and now? we drink a beer and the girls settle in close to a small group of dominican guys. the dutchman and i settle in about 20 feet away. i am not sure if one of those guys is her boyfriend and i don't want to make the situation awkward. the dutchman and i can no believe where we are and ask ourselves,"how do we leave?" we somehow weaseled our way into the presidente vip tent complete with live tv broadcast.
