Posts: 26Looking for the nicest girl-friendly hotels in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh
Probably been asked before a bunch of times, but looking for updated info. Looking for best hotels in both cities, preferably nearer to where action is. Would prefer a name-brand hotel such as a Sofitel, Interncontinental, etc, as I travel with huge amounts of points.
Thanks for any help.

I have no idea of the stats, but I would say that the worst of the sex-pats are worst than the worst of the drug-pats.

they were arrested for "drug production". the picture shows hard drugs and marijuana. imo, they were arrested for selling hard drugs. i've seen people ask to borrow a spoon; lol!
wondering if the cambodian police have evidence of selling. the owners (2 of them; not 1 as the article states) did not allow locals in their establishment. if the police raided the place, they would have found the evidence for "drug production".
it seems the happy hippi had way too much pr. i saw many references on the internet. plus they advertised openly in snooky; they advertised the "amsterdam experience".
i doubt they will spend much time in jail; this is cambodia; money talks. i bet money will talk because the western media will not have the spotlight on them (unlike the **** stuff).

Five or six busted at the Happy Hippi in Sihanoukville. Plus another death at the Walkabout. No recourse to anything except an atm if you get into trouble.
Not saying you should not visit, just keep your nose clean (no pun intended).

Another report lifted off 440:
'On a side note I heard a scary rumor from my friend. He told me that police may now stop any foreigner on the street that they suspect of being under the influence of drugs and take them to the police station for a mandatory drug test. If you fail it or refuse to take it, you get 30 days in the clink. Hopefully it is just bs, or there may be a mass exodus of people out of here since the police would most likely abuse the hell out of this law by randomly pick out foreigners and threaten to take them to jail if they don't fork over some cash. '
True or not, who knows. Be careful is all, of moto-dups and friendly barangs offering to serve.

it can't be for ganja.
hard to believe it would be for hard drugs.
only thing remotely possible is that they were tailing a ****. from the articles i've read, after a tip, the ngo group puts the guy under surveillance. then he gets arrested. i'm assuming all the guys arrested i read about were guilty.

This report just out on khmer440. Girl mentioned by name is a well known thief and addict. She is in cahoots with a fairly large clique of local and western scumbags. Tempting as it can be to use, best to avoid all illegal substances whilst visiting the Kingdom. Several drug users, rather than servers, have been set up and busted by khmer cops, who are 100% corrupt, in league with the above mentioned clique. Here's the post on 440:
This country never stops to surprise me. Yesterday evening around 9 pm I observed four Cambodian individuals (3 male, one female) using a so called IMSI catcher. They sat across a guesthuse near Rue Yugoslavy apparently observing an american guy and his khmer chick inside of their room. I sat right behind them in a restaurant and they caught my attention because they were using expressions (in khmer) like "american dog, american motherfucker, stupid american" and several times the word "ganja". The woman had a towel on her head hanging down left and right of her face and between the two ends of that towel she was trying to hide that device which looked very similar to this one: http://www.neosoft.ch/products/emerg_tr. LOCK_ID=39
The device she held not only transmitted a very clear audio signal but also a video signal clearly originating from a handset inside that room. Always when their mobile phone was moved the device across the road displayed parts of their faces, limbs, other body parts, the ceiling, the door, the bed. I could clearly hear what they spoke about and they were apparently smoking something. One of the Cambodian guys wore earphones through which he received translations and he passed that information to the girl with the device next to him. I was watching that scenario for about one hour when the girl upstairs said goodbye, I heard the door shutting and two minutes later she came out of the guesthouse, crossed the street and exchanged some words with that four people operating the device and disappeared. She didn't see me which was good because I know her. Haven't seen her for many years. Three or four years ago her regular hangout was the Walkabout and some other bars down that street. She speaks a very good command of english and that time she was going under the name "Ari". In the meantime the guy upstairs decided to write a SMS. Through his secondary camera in his mobile phone I could see his face and the text he was writing! ! Well, after that I had seen enough and I left the premises.
My question would be now : has anybody on this board witnessed things like that already? What's going on in this little shit country? Don't they have better things to do than using $ 500, 000 hardware to spy on some ganja smokers? It doesn't make sense. Any explainations?

Posts: 56Buy Vietnam Dong in Cambodia. Everyone a winner
Today, Vietnam devalued the dong 9% again.
You can swap US dollar s for VN dong in Cambo. Do so if you are going that way.
Just avoid the rip off places. With ingenuity described below, the 8% slug can be avoided, and the have few bucks more for mongering activities.
The Vietnamese go to Cambodia using bank ATM card, specially from Techcombank, to withdraw US$2, 000 (the max allowed every transaction) for multiple transactions. Then, they sell US$ for vn dong in Cambodia. The different rate of what they get is 8% more than in vn.
