Las americas airport to boca chica
Hi, I'm going next month to Boca Chica, I would like to know the cheapest way to get from the airport to Boca Chica, there are buses? Do You know the price or where I can look at the timetable.
Do you recommend some cheap place to eat seafood or any restaurant in boca chica? Thanks.

"always" is a strong word

It really depends on the gringo. The easiest way to avoid a ripoff is to call a taxi. Somebody should list the phone numbers of Lino, Apollo, Aero, etc. You can even call more than one to compare but that's not usually necessary. A good rule of thumb is anything within the city limits. Especially if you aren't going to cross the river. Should be no more than 200 pesos. That price may shock some because it is not unusual for taxistas to ask for 1, 000 pesos off the street for a 150 peso fare. The taxi you call will show up within no more than 5 minutes because the dispatcher puts out a radio call and the closest waiting taxi will respond. You should ask the dispatcher for the 'tarifa' so you know what to pay in advance. Also, don't be shy about getting somebody you can trust to make the call for you. Watch out for the taxista making a deal with the caller to hike up your fare and split the difference.
Have fun!

Taxis are US$20 from SDQ to Boca Chica but you should bargain for US$15 going from Boca Chica to SDQ. The ride is only about 10 minutes. 15 minutes at the most.

But not in Barahona, as it turns out. After waiting in line for 20 mins in the Banco Popular, I was then told I had to go to another desk for which I waited another 15 mins.
You have to get in the "withdrawals" line, usually signed "Retiros".

Welcome to the DR. First few times I used banks here I was astonished at how clerks would ignore customers and chat to colleagues or any friends or families who happened to drop in. And God help you if the family photos come out, you will be in for a long wait.

That is bullshit. Did you have your passport? If so, I would have made a real scene until senior management came out to sort it. And I am a very quiet guy whose normal advice is "bite your lip and walk away".

Yes. In DR taxis are not like taxis in airports in other countries where you can go to a different part and get a better price or make them use the meter and it comes out cheaper. There are no meters and everyone goes for the same price.

Cab $ 25. 30. I was told that you can get a cab cheaper upstairs. Does anybody know if thats true. Me and wingman will be there and at Costalunga on June 17.
It can be hit or miss. Sometimes you can get lucky and make a deal with a taxi who has just dropped someone off, other times not. I have seen a near fist fight between the airport cab supervisor and a taxi driver who just dropped someone off and was attempting to pick up a new fair.

I spent one night there a little over a year ago. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. The rooms are bare bone basic. I think you would have a better time staying at Costalunga, El Candil, Hotel Garant, or Hotel Zapata. At one time or another I have stayed at all four of these hotels and they are much, much better than Mozart.
