Those with more experience in Korea may be able to fill in more of the details than I can but I think you'll want to take the Incheon Line 1 subway into Seoul Station. From there pop on to the line 4 and go down to Samgakji. Then take line 6 over to Itaewon Station. I would guess you might spend a couple of hours getting into Itaewon but that's a ballpark figure.

You may be disappointed as the scene doesn't resemble much of what you're describing from the old days. Even as someone who's lived here for a relatively short time the scene has gone down hill. There was a fire not too long ago that wiped out 3-5 shops on the hill and one can only wonder if that's a straw that would break the camel's back. I could see people recommending they bulldoze that side of the street now.

If you read a lot of the posts here, the actions limited and or changed from what it used to be. I understand the interest in visiting for old times sake but I think people familiar with it wouldn't even bother stopping in Korea for mongering. Your mileage may vary but a big issue for guys trying to find some fun is the fact many (maybe the majority?) of providers in some of the RLD's won't even smile at a foreigner let alone spend time with one.

Even Miari had glass houses that used to keep the light on for the Korean guys, but it sounds like they now just keep the doors closed and beckon guys in once in a while. I've been to all the RLDs in Seoul. You're right in that the hotties won't accept a foreigner and even cuss us out for asking. Still, it's fun to walk through them for old time's sake. As for Itaewon, I had read the story on the forum of the GI who poured kerosene (or other flammable) on the space heater in a club and wiped out several clubs. First, I have no documented credibility on the ISG forum; however, I have 2, 300+ posts on the domestic front. Found it to be a bit on the darker side but nowhere even remotely as dark as the street walker scene in the USA. The entrance was literally right outside exit 10 of Gireum station. Just hang a sharp right into a dark grimy alley with some nasty lookin curtains that resemble the brushes of an automatic car wash.
