Last I was there, I saw they also allowed old people, mothers with young children and monks.

Could well be that they have not lived the tough years when HIV was hitting also on "normal people" (ie no druggies and people living borderline) being also an invisible desease people can't actually spot a carrier.

The lattest either get a card on the plane or, if flying Thai, just need to show their boarding card showing the flown class.

They do check the possession of those titles, mind you. Usually one doesn't have more than a couple of people in front.

The passport scanning sytem will only be for thai passport holders, they have no idea what other countries are up to in their particular IRFID passports, and they cannot deny a thai entry, so no need to check them out. That will take all thai nationals out of the usual immigration queue and should considerably shorten the waiting times when it happens. Of course, employing people who speak english would be a big help also, but that will never happen.
A correction? The Thai Nationals aren't using the "usual Immigration queue " (Foreign Passport) They have their own already which is basically the VIP (Thai Passport) there are usually no more than one / two waiting to use their queue. So creating a so call machines for them is even more stupid when they generally don't have to wait now?

This is an example of the article you are talking about.

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/...-check-system/

It leads on that these machines can be used by anyone. However in a more recent article that I read a couple of weeks ago, it says that these machines are only for Thai nationals. They are supposed to begin using the machines next month.

Some posters speak about Thailand going downhill since some 20 years ago. The following may give a different perspective:

"When I first came here 20 years ago every girl insisted on condom use for fear of HIV. Now they all say they don't like condoms and don't want me to use one. And I'm not talking about hookers here, but girls you would consider educated and with an ability to think about the future."

"The 20-25 age group in particular seem to have no fear of HIV at all."

My trick is I usually slip my way up the ramp on the side once I get to the top I do just that I try to look at a booth where both are open. I also look at the lines that don't have too many couples or tour groups standing in them. They just seem to go much slower? Needless to say I certainly don't get in a line that seem to have Indians or Middle Eastern (sorry) in general the waiting time increases? The bad luck part finding two immiration officier in one set of booth is that as soon as I get close one goes to lunch?

Last year I noticed that a few immigration officiers were directing Chinese tour groups to use the Thais National section and so I tagged along but got busted when one saw I had a USA Passport! I also read a report last year in the Bangkok Post that they are testing Automated Machines? Has anyone seen them being tested?

The one thing I have to give the Immigration Officiers is that they never seem to get excited? They are consistence, smooth and rarely smile or break out in a sweat. Like mentioned they work or are trained like the USA Postal agents that they are the government and got you by the balls. In Thailand that translate into Mai Pen Rai?

Any of your advice is welcome. Should a mid-30s man buy it?

    Thank you.
You should buy it in your mid 30's if you are in shit poor shape and lack confidence. Why would you need it? I am in my late 50's and can fuck 3 times a day. Stop drinking, start eating right, exercise, don't smoke, don't take drugs and you will get many, many woodies all day.

I would be extremely skeptical with those kind of products. Most are nothing more than modern day snake oil. There was a company, I think it was Enzyte, that put on a pretty big marketing campaign. And eventually, the only thing that got bigger was their bank account.

In fact each time I have come in during those hours when Eva arrived, my bags were no longer on the carrousel belt they were pull off and put in a area next to the carrousel so that they can process the next flight arriving. So the last thing I'm thinking is being impressed!

You're right, no way are they coordinating / syncing baggage delivery with immigration processing. The main point here is that the Thais have identified this problem themselves and are trying to fix it. They just seem to be taking the most circuitous route to reach their solution. You wonder why it takes on average five minutes to screen a passenger before they can pass through immigration, what are they looking for? There's got to be a faster better way to say, enter or denied. I heard some people actually have fainted waiting in line because of the temperature and the wait time. The good thing about fainting though is that it gets you to the head of the line.

The system they are using must be way behind times or it could just be the majority of the immigration officers who seem to take pride in making people wait in line. A lot of them remind me of the workers at the soon to be bankrupt U. S Postal Service who ran themselves out of business by operating inefficiently and never seem to care because they had no incentives to. Whatever the reason for the delays, maybe they should hire some consultant from some of the more efficient airports around to give them some pointers, just don't use the consultants from Ninoy Aquino International, that would lead to a another coup.
