In defense of Thai girls, I've yet to smell one with a rotten cooch. Unfortunately, I can't say that about some of the falang girls I've had the unpleasant experience of being with. I would say most Aussies I know over here are pretty conservative, but they have health care, education, vacation, and a good pension. I agree 100. Many of the working girls here know very little about sex, even though they have been with countless men. Their skill set both technically and psychologically is poorly developed. Not communist at all. In the US we have socialized the risk and privatized the gains. We basically forgave and bailed out all the banks in the US, but let the population rot. Communism is defined as gov ownership of the means of production. I would and have never advocated that. Certain things work quite well in a "market," consumer goods to mention one. Some things do not, health care and education are two things that do not. Banks have always been self serving unless regulated properly. Canada had no banking issue during the latest crisis because there is proper regulation. In the US our banks are under-regulated and the stock market is over regulated. Let the stock market free wheel and keep the banks tight and solvent. Communist enough for you?

Actually the world could have withstood the bad loans easily. It was the repackaging that crashed the economy. There should be only small student loans. It is insane that US Uni students have to go into the workforce heavily in debt. School should be paid for by tax money as should health care. If there is any left over let the military and the Justice Dept fight over it. Would love to see the pres forgive all student loans and force the banks to write them off. Would do the US population good.

Of course, it's not some hidden treasure trove oasis, that's for sure. Definitely still worth a regular look and dip though, at least for me. Well stated analysis and sounds like you really appreciate what's available in Bangkok. The question that interests me is how (ignoring all other costs: housing. Food, transportation etc) lets say for example $50, 000 per year (USA) directed at female "entertainment" in a city like Bangkok for an average middle aged full-time or part-time resident. Would compare to the same amount spent in a city like New York. Its my impression based on 2 brief visits over 3 years and this forum and other info I'm hearing. That its probably not duplicable in NYC even at 5 to 10 times that amount.

And yeah, when you limit the number of licenses (whether taxi or private vehicle) , you're invariably increasing the 'value' (and hence price. Whether up front or under the table) of available licenses. There's too many vehicles of all types, IMO. Money is the best way to weed out the market, especially when it's becoming increasingly more difficult for the masses to acquire it.
