Using the bus is much easier and is very affordable for less then 10 bucks you can go almost anywhere in the DR. I takes 4 to 5 hour either way bus or car. The buses are comfortable and sometimes has talent on them. I would get a room and spend the nite. SD has discos, casinos and SWs. It is not Sosua but you can have a good time and see another side of the DR. I would not rent or hire a driver unless I had more money then I need. I would rather use the money to pay for my fun. IMHO the buses are excellent.

Posts: 320Tour to Santo Domingo from Barba Negra
I'm thinking about one day sightseeing tour to Santo Domingo from Barba Negra. There will be 2-3 people. We do not mind buses (if they are comfortable and air conditioned) , but car with a driver would be better. What time should we start? Any ideas on transportation (rent a car is not an option)?

I use to like the Haitian club in Puerto Plata, Kakoabaka (now demolished to make way for a taxi parking area) because the music was at a more bearable level. But I guess that was down to Haitians not having the money to buy big speakers (or whatever is needed to make eardrums bleed) rather than any more refined sensibilities on their part.
I do seriously wonder about the staff who work in places like El Consulado (where the same decibels are confined to an even smaller area) for 8 or 10 hours a day, six days a week. Some are there for years. Surely they must suffer hearing problems later in life?

OK, if she then immediately agrees to my price I will still take her if her attitude seems right. Some chicas new to the gringo market have heard exaggerated reports of the money to be made and may try on a silly price. I explain what is the going rate (or, if you prefer,"my" going rate) and many then cheerfully accept, but that hardly constitutes "bargaining hard". I may afterwards add up to 500 pesos propina for a totally satisfactory experience.
I am an ex-pat in the DR and mostly hang with other ex-pats and frequently returning visitors. I have found that the more time guys have spent there, the less patience they have with haggling, probably because cheap pussy is no longer a novelty and they are under no pressure to cram as many fucks into their precious vacation time as less experienced visitors.
The other point is that, as we all know, the chicas exchange info on the punters and if you are a regular face it is not good to have set too many precedents of paying higher prices as they will all expect the same. With occasional visitors this is not an issue.
Once I again I would stress that I am not contradicting you, just pointing out that many have a different strategy. As ever, mongers will find out what works best for them and should pursue that, whatever anyone else says or posts.

In mongering venues you can be sure for the right price almost all girls are ready to go with you.
These are prostitutes and you need not worry about wining and dining or act of seduction.
Once you go and hang around disco bars nursing a drink just look around to see if a perticular girl interests you. Just like anything everybody has their likes and dislikes. More so in mongering because you are.
Buying sex. Most often looks are not everything. Big boobs do not mean real. It maybe heavily padded or fall like a rock. Pretty looking face maybe hiding pock marks behind make up. Flirty in bar may not translate.
In good sex in the room.
All mongers have experienced good and bad experiences and anywhere in between. Bargain hard about the price so that if it is a good experience you can give her a good tip and repeat her later. If the girl is not good.
Chalk up to experience and you have not invested lot of money. Always check the girl as to friendliness in the bar before taking her.
2. Sex happens without any language problems. Just try to learn basic spanish words. Most girls know basic english. If not there are always fellow mongers and bar staff who will translate.
3. Thanks to viagra and like even a man of 80-90 (heffner?) can get it up and have sex. There is absolutely no need to satisfy the girl. If you are happy that is good enough.
Ofcourse there are some girls who will go with somebody and will not go with somebody. It has nothing to do with age or money.
4. Hot chicas does not mean excellent satisfying sex. If you are into arm candy, yes they make that. If you have money to splurge you go to O2. BB will be cheaper than O2 but expensive than getting girls on your own.
Ofcourse BB is a brothel and resort sewn together. Girls are right there at set prices.
For me I like thrill of the chase and catch.

But it is mainly a dancehall with the usual mix of Latin dances (bachata / merengue / reggaeton / salsa) and most of the clientele are local couples and groups going there to dance, rather than pick up putas. It is in Cangrejos, which is the village on the main road between La Union and Montellano. The club is adjacent to the iron bridge over the Rio Verde (which is indeed a "green" river). A good place to mix with the locals if that is your idea of fun. I don't think there is anywhere like that in El Batey? Maybe in Los Charamicos?

Hey Folks! New guy on the block with a question or two for experienced BB travelers.
I am planning a first trip to POP this winter and looking at staying at BB's due to several factors (newbie with basic spanish / convenience / running solo) as well as the FANTASTIC background info / reviews I have gained from this forum. I have signed up for
The newsletter (WOW!) but there are a few q's concerning "etiquette".
1. I have discovered the rates for "companionship" via previous posters, is this however a "fixed" donation under house rules or will I be expected to negotiate individually with each chica?
2. I have also seen comments concerning "Mamasan"-does she handle all the particulars or is she more of a reference / guide to the girls and what they offer?
3. Tipping policies for cleaning / wait staff. What is the consensus-is it better to tip maids daily / at end of stay and if so what have folks found works best (money or small gift?)
Appreciate the input folks! I am really looking forward to this trip and hoping to begin a regular thing. I have been utilizing escorts here in the states for sometime however I am looking forward to a more mongering type experience.
Nos Vemos!

Hi guys when I do post it is on the SD board but last night in Chicago I met a Dominican 10 by my standards who said her sister works at a club called Rio Verde in PP. It sounded like a pick up joint with the chicas having rooms on site. Anyone know of this bar?
