I am a frequent visitor to tijuana. I went from 7-12 to 7-14 same like you. I drove my car from los angeles to santa ana bus station and park my car over there. (1000 e. Santa ana, santa ana- 72 hour free parking). From there I take a bus to san yisidro. Bus leaves almost every hour or so. When I come back, I leave my hotel 5:15am on Sunday.

At the border around 20 min wait. Take a bus and arrive at santa ana around 8 am. So you don't have to worry about the parking and border crossing time.

Yes COMIC-CON is in town later this week. I live Downtown and it is a clusterfuck, Think of it as HK on a Sat / Fri night on the sidewalks / trolleys / busses / Gaslamp.
