What you could have tried is getting Help from the security in VM (some are police). Even better take a 5 minutes walk to the delegacia of Polica Civil (in the direction of Feira de So Cristovo). Following her home to where she lives could get you in really deep trouble.

You learn by your mistakes. Bringing a iphone to VM is asking for trouble. You should always put your stuff where you can watch it, never close to the cabin door.

You better forget your phone. I guess you will make a police report at the tourist police in Leblon for your insurance claim. They might help you, but maybe a gringo getting robbed of his phone while humping a VM girl doesn't have high priority?
If you really want it back you could head back to the bar and offer a reward to anyone who happens to "find" your phone. Just be careful so you don't get robbed of your reward money.

Hey all,

I wanted to see if anyone has any connections in Vila Mimosa. I was there tonight and got my iphone stolen while doing a girl. Morena goes by the name Bruna, tall young girl wearing yellow thong, went upstairs with her and the door wouldn't lock, but no one else was upstairs. She had knocked the clothes off the end of the little bed, while we were goin at it, which I didn't think much about, but then when I was finished, I realized someone had taken my underwear and my iphone was missing. I know it was the other girl there, as I saw her go down the stairs, and no other guy was around. Then I saw in the room next door my underwear and of course no iphone.

I tried talking to the original guy I had to pay, and he was like, No one took your cell phone, get out of here.

Interestingly the one girl I saw left to go home right then, and was escorted by one of the guys working there. I saw her get on the metro north but couldn't follow her any further as I couldn't get a metro ticket fast enough to board. I'm so tempted to just waiting for her one day now, and just follow her home, but I know the phone is a lost cause now.

However, wanted to see if anyone was connected there and knows if there is someone who can help recover it. Its an international iphone, and I've already sent everything to deactivate it.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Just a quick question, will taxi prices be higher than normal? During the pan america games, some taxis did charge more. Just wanted to know.

Also, have a 1 bedroom apartment to rent, available from the 15th June. Located on the corner of Rua Bolivar and Av Atantica.

Taxis tell me that they have asked for an increase but as of right now the rates will remain the same. If there is no increase one option is to allow them to use band 2 all during the Cup (the same as in December and after 9:00) which increases the rate a little bit.

Coconut prices, however, are an entirely different story but I do not want to steal Sperto's thunder.

Honestly I wouldn't hold much hope. Get a Claro / Tim local cheap phone and Sim Card for next to nothing-don't carry round an expensive iPhone-especially in a place like VM! Thats taking unnecessary risks-you can get hurt over a phone like that in Rio. I've seen it many times and even myself at 6 ft 6 and an ex kick Boxer fro many years, I leave good stuff in a safe-had a few altercations on the street and they wd have been worse if I had valuables. You would have to bribe someone at bar where she worked but a) its illegal -b) the phone has been sold c) you're a gringo.

I will post on a mixture of Tier 1-3 Termas, Privees and Non-Pro action + hanging with GDP's for free outside.

I have lined up 6 non-pros due to upfront legwork on date-sites + my old gdp friends who are always up for a bang bang.

One I already did the business with in MG-one flying in from SP,2 in Rio and one in Porto Alegre.

Its so easy on dating-sites I find, but I will always hit my have termas high and low to find new gems + some privees.

I agree. I havn't read the forum for one week and was hoping to read some reports about how the situation is now with the World Cup so close. No reports, just people looking for company to visit VM. Why not using PMs?
I hope all the Rio newbies don't do these meetings before visiting the prives in centro. It could damage the priv situation with a bunch of indiscreet gringos knocking down the doors in centro.

With all the people supposedly coming to town in the next few weeks -- and apparently using this forum to do your meet-up planning in public yeesh -- it would be great if you actually post actionable new intel. The SP thread is so much better, go see how they do it! Thanks.

I'll be either at Solarium or Monte Carlos Sunday night June 15. I will drop by Balcony, the same Sunday night, to see the talent there after the terma visit. And relay to the board what I see.

On Thursday 19th, I think a good meeting place would be the FIFA FAN FEST at Copacabana, which should be right in front of Balcony. I think noon would be a good time to meet. If we want to watch the england-uruguay game then we shoulb be at VM BEFORE 4 pm, so we must leave Copa at 3 pm the latest.

Location is going to be a headache for me. The only affordable place I found to stay in Rio is with a carioca friend's family in Vicente de Carvalho, which is about 90 minutes (according to google maps) from Copa by metro. So getting to Copa and meeting a group should be carefully planned.

For 48 hrs, I am all elated that a terma is open on a Sunday when I arrive into GIG airport Sunday morning, and now I'm going to see the be & see level squads.

I am in Rio 8 nights, so I was saving Christ, Sugar Mountain, Santa Teresa and Lapa fun for Thurs, Fri, and Sat later in the week. (Going to Maracana stadium on Wed Jun 18 and Sunday June 22) And squeezing in 2 Termas, 1 Prive, 1 VM run, and 1 Balcony girl, is my latest tentative plan.

Manny51 - appreciate your advice. And yes I know, protests, ridiculous world cup alcohol, coconut, and beer prices, and muggings are other obstacles to overcome the 8 nights I'm there.

(still trying to find a wingman for Sunday evening and / or a Monday 11 am prive run).

Finally- (Tuesday I know all bets are off, for prives and termas, as Brazil plays Mexico that day at 4 pm Tues. June 17, so I assume all the terma & prive girls are at home with their loved ones to watch the Brazil national team play).

Glad you are going to Rio. I went recently as a first timer, and posted my thoughts in the General Info section. I hope you have a great time.

But as some advice, I would again reemphasize that Sunday and Monday are actually the worst days for punting in Rio, and Wed- Fri considered the best. This is in terms of the number of options you have and the quality of girls working. I know that you have to work around the World cup games, but I am worried that you have your scheduling backwards, and could miss out on some things.

Guys, help me out here.
