    A thanks! And a promise

    Boys,

I am amazed, surprised and delighted with the great information that you provide in this forum. You are a Bible for a beginner DR monger. I am reading posts on Sosua and Santo Domingo and I'm going to spend a month there. From December 28 until January 25. The first week in Santo Domingo, and then way to Sosua, indefinitely. It will be my first time in DR.

The monger map, which I think is a creation of Boricua, is simply excellent.

I'm from Argentina, 40 years, of course I speak Spanish as their native language, so I will try by all means get semi pros or regular street girls, discos, bars, etc. If all else fails, I have all the information on the forum about where to go for water in a dry night. I have some experience mongering on Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico and Colombia. I think I'll be doing ok on DR.

I will book the first 3 days in Hostal San Francisco de Asis, for pricing, but especially for its proximity to the Jaragua Casino, Pure Disco, Sky High, Latin Dolls, Girls House, and the Malecon. You see, guys? I have a great plan for the first week of my trip thanks to you.

To all beginners like me: Invest the time to read the hundreds of postings about DR before asking, and thank all the generous colleagues. I promise to return the favor with brief daily postings with new data.

One question: I will spend New Year in Santo Domingo. Do you know any big party to spend that night? If other cat hunters are alone that night in SD maybe we can arrange something. Maybe we can be the party, trashing upside down the San Antonio de Asis Hostal. Just kidding. Or maybe not.

Good trips for all of you.

Thanks mate, but it has to be booked from expedia otherwise I'd book an apartment from homeaway or aibnb. Can anyone recommend something listed on that website please, also any info on plaza del sol?

I think the women weren't used to seeing anyone be so decisive. Anyway not a bad session if I am honest.

I am headed back to Santo domingo mid January for a month. I need everyone's help in picking a good hotel for a month long stay. Obviously a place that is guest friendly with no chica fee and ideally large ish so it doesn't feel claustrophobic and ideally with a kitchenette. Does that exist anywhere in santo domingo. I must book it through expedia.com and the apartments I see listed on expedia look horrible and have even worse reviews.

can anyone recommend Hotel Plaza del Sol in CALLE JOSE CONTRERAS NO. 25A Zona Universitaria? price seems good

I don't usually hang out, get in, do my business and get out.

I tried to find that chick on Badoo but no luck. Maybe some different name? Any advice?

FYI her name is Vanessa. Getting hard just writing about her.

    Any pointers

I've only ever stayed at the riazor and san francisco de asis. Can anyone recommend GF hotels or aparthotels that are 3* or 4* in santo domingo? Want to pay the full amount for my stay online so I travel with less cash. The ones I'm used to say book now pay at hotel which is useless as it means taking extra cash or card.

The entry of the hotel is a locked door at the street level and you have to use the buzzer to ask them to open. I saw someone coming out and asked about it, I. E. , if he was pleased with the place. He said he was and so I went in to check the place out. The layout is unlike a hotel (it is a historical building -converted to a hotel so no surprise) but it is two / three storied only so it cannot be hard. The rooms looked nice and clean but the cheaper one did not have windows which would not do for me. I cannot imagine they have any issue about your guests even though I did not ask about it. The woman showing me the place was nice and friendly. She is in a room tucked away so the guests may not have to come through her line of sight. If I recall correctly. Overall, the price is good and location superb but to get something I like, the lowest price may be just a dangler to up-sell a better appointed room. I would try the place next time. And if wifi does not work in the room, the lobby or Pacos in front is always an option.
Good info on the place. I will certainly be not staying in the smaller room now. Its interesting that this hotel is directly across from Grands, or at "La Puerta". Google showed this location as well, but the Hotel Casa Conde's own website shows a location between 19 de Marzo & Duarte.

I have just been confirmed for a suite for 4 nights in February. The rate is $47.50/ nt which already includes a 5% discount for paying cash. The lower rates currently listed on the website are off-season rates per the hotel. So, $12.50 less than the Roma11. I will wait for more reports hopefully.

I hope some of you can chime in on The Casa Conde Boutique Hotel.

I generally stay at hotels in the $60 range when I go to SD, but am looking to save a few bucks on my next trip. I believe this hotel may be relatively new. I've read a few reviews online, and apparently hot water when the sun goes down is a real issue as that they use solar heat. As well, they have no elevator which is reported as annoying given this hotel's distances to rooms from lobby. The website also does not list in-room safes as a room feature.

    Can anyone report on:

WiFi in rooms vs lobby only.

    AC working well or not.

    Girl-friendliness.

Security boxes at lobby if no in-room safes.

    Any scamming or security issues.
